What did you do to your model today?

Bent it!

took it for a speed run, was going well, then I couldn’t stop it and it went straight into a kerb, just stripped it down and the grub screw was loose on the motor pinion, which was obviously why it kept going when I applied the brake (had just put a 19t on for a speed run), I didn’t put any Threadlock on.

But it seems that it is just a bent CVD, which of course is out of stock everywhere☹️

Been quite busy with RC stuff today.

Put my ET410 back together, so that's ready to rock:

Changed the ESC in the granite from the garbage BLX100 to a Hobbywing WP SC8 SCT, so that's ready to rock:

Then I went to re-assemble my MT410, and realised it was missing a really annoying part... the motor mount cover thingy. I considered ordering one, but I know what Tekno prices can be like, you have to order a packet of plastic parts, most of which I will never need... so I just designed it in Fusion 360 and did a test print:

Happy with that... does it fit?

Aye, that'll do 'er. Going to do a print with Nylon now. Might even do a version with a spur shield so I don't get cables tangled up in it. Anyone interested in one if I make a few sets? Probably like £15 or so?

Took apart the 2 damaged Carnage diffs and a front axle.

Put in linen bag and into the washing machine for a good clean.

Then they will be rebuild stronger.

Now I put my Lego through the machine, but I never thought about RC parts....

Modded the battery plugs on my 30dn sdt.   To xt90 plugs. Took a while to get it right.   Sorted front shocks on it. Feel much nicer.  Got to wait for my other ois before I can sort rear shocks.  Set esc up ready.  Can't wait to get the other bits for it now.

Ian..

Works like a treat.

Just don't get caught by the Mrs.

How I washed the parts in the washing machine:

Result:

90% clean.

I consider the remaining grease as something like a water repellent.

Then I had a plan of throwing them in the dryer, but I think that would be too much.

You can clearly see the rounded diff pinion that caused me to disassemble the whole diff.

Some images of the nylon version of the RC part I previously mentioned. Notice I use a heatset insert for the thread. One of the weak points of 3D printed plastic is the threads, usually not great but these things work awesome.20210322_005807.thumb.jpg.fa6f7810f8dc7a8e52bdcea9e632aa6f.jpg20210322_005741.thumb.jpg.1639141e9a71c2a07bac031ed9200507.jpg

Dimensionally, they're spot on.

Here is the design for a version with a spur cover:

Edit: two short runs later and the gears stripped! DOh. Might have been because I added grease when I reassembled the servo....

My PowerHD lw20 servo stalled on full lock when I powered up the car.

When dismantled I found the legs of the potentiometer corroded and one had snapped.

Now I know this is a budget servo, but I hate throwing things out so I went searching for a replacement pot.

Found one that looked very similar:

Futaba Y-l39668, Pot VR TR133-15

Example here: https://www.gravesrc.com/futaba-vr-tr133-15-pot.html

Not readily available in the UK it seems, but found one on eBay, the packet looked about 20 years old. Not exactly cheap (£6) for a simple pot, but decided to risk it....

Happily, it fitted perfectly and was easy to solder the wires on. The servo is now up and running again in my Axial Wraith.

Pulled apart my 30dn sdt to sort center diff.  As a few people said to check them  as 30dn use any old oil to fill them. Take it all apart. Diff is perfect.  Good oil.  Nice and heavy.   Shimmed spot on. So back together it went. Lol I'm now happy the cars been built really well.
