NEW Tamiya Buggy/Chassis - BBX

TWINSET

Recommended Posts

That looks very nice!

However, I have to wonder how well the trailing arms can pivot. The front mount looks like it just rotates around the screw and doesn't allow the arm to pivot, unless it's just relying on the arm itself to twist. I'm just guessing (and we haven't seen the rear trailing arm mounts), but that would be a very Tamiya thing to do!

Interested in learning more.

Rumoured to be £300+ by RC Kicks, and has no electrics at all.

However…… ITS A TAMIYA WITH HEX HEAD SCREWS!!!!

That's where all the extra cost is going, the hex head screws 🤣😂

Tamiya truly have lost the plot with the pricing for the BBX, Modelsport have it down for pre-order £349..!!!

And I thought Arrma's and Traxxass were expensive...

Disappointed in ModelSports pricing on this one.
Cracking model, what a lot of people have been wanting for a lot of years! Can’t wait!

Disappointed that they knocked 51 GBP off the RRP?

This will be a 500 GBP kit to get up and running and that is before any upgrade parts.  The wallet is in for a "rough ride"...

It’s € 252.09 on Tamico so with tax/handling etc it’d somewhere at £300ish.

A bit disappointed would be about right. I wouldn’t say quite grudging though.

It's a Shame, it looks Superb, and a real throwback to old 80's buggy designs. But that price!!

on a second note. That's the first time I've seen Tamiya use a new mold for buggy tires, i wonder how well they will perform🤔.  I'm really digging the scale looks though interested in seeing what it will perform like too.

Why are you comparing pricing in the UK to another Country?

I buy from all over the world. I wasn’t meaning to create any upset. Apologies folks

No need to apologise, you are only stating FACTS and that fact is it's cheaper from Germany, end of of story !!!

I think I might investigate this option myself.  When you see the prices for Tamiya at AsiaTees you realise how much difference the cost is on the opposite side of the world.

Stick a set of those wheels and tyres on a Wild one, job done! :good:

Price wise, it doesn't surprise me at this time, i mean £1.99 for a can of Heinz spaghetti & sausage is as ridiculous as Tamiya’s.

the thing with Tamiya is, they hold a lot of nostalgia for gentlemen of a certain age, i myself are one of those, I remember salivating down Beatties and the local model shop, they looked amazing as a kid, who wasn’t from the richest of upbringings, now were older and (have/had/etc) the money to buy one, it just makes us feel younger. Oh and nearly forgot the IMMENSE parts support for them is a safer bet than other brands (not saying some other brands are worse because they are not!)

i still think every collection needs a Tamiya at some point, ive had loads but my weakness is/was always the lunchbox….

I bought a pint of milk today, first time in years because she buys all the milk in the weekly shop.

95p! Really? It's one pint of milk!

When I was a kid, it was about 15 to 20p!

L&L models have a post up on Instagram about the pricing on this one. Looks like someone at Tamiya in the UK messed up the initial quotes for this, so they have revised the price down a bit. L&L are going to be doing them at £319 now.

Edit:  looks like modelsport have dropped their preorder price too.

think i would be comfy around the 180 quid mark for one of them kit only, the look of it is awesome for me but that price and no proper leccys with it is a hard nope considering the last tamiya i built was this https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/tamiya-konghead-6x6-g6-01-409212

and my hyper vse was rtr and 325 quid lol

im guessing the roll cage is plastic?
