Thanks folks. No this is not a hoax, and no I have not gone nuts. This has been sat on my shelf in the Garage for 7 years hoping my boys would want to bash with it, but the eldest isn't in to RC at all and the youngest likes the smaller buggies. Jariworsley has first refusal on it and is local. N4 points

So my mum has accidentally ordered 8 boxes of Coco pops, not sure what we're supposed to do with 8 boxes but if my TRX4 sells I'll throw a box or 2 in for free.4 points

Folks My HPI Alza Flux XL is looking for a new home. I simply can't bear the thought of throwing it in the tip, so listing here in the hope someone can find it a good new home. This started out as a Savage X brushless conversion which already had the LST2 shocks, ally lower arms and hub carriers, and RPM upper arms when I got it. I then installed the bulletproof diffs, I then got the Alza Racing XL conversion with the 4mm aluminium TVPs, Castle 1717 centre diff conversion, HPI lightning centre diff and a beautiful machined aluminium front driveshaft from the lovely guys Alza Racing. Here is my build thread from 2014: It also comes with an SF5 servo and a painted GT2 Gigante body which is in pretty good nick. To finish it needs a 1717 style motor, ESC and radio gear Snags It corners like a blancmange as it has no sway bars, but flies down the straights and jumps liek a champ. There is a little crack at the base of the mid body roll cage. There is a mixture of Philips(original HPI) head and hex hardware (Alza stuff). There is play in the hub carriers in keeping with the age of the model. It's nearly Christmas and I have gone a bit crackers - I am asking for just £1, but here's the deal: You have to come and collect from the Cambridge area. I will not split it - don't message me for bits. I want the whole thing to go to a good new home. Pictures follow Gigante GT Bodyshell: Massive LST2 shocks 4mm TVPs - the ESC plate needs a better mounting solution Small crack in the mid roll cage SF5 servo and that beautiful machined front driveshaft HPI Lighnint centre diff in diff mount / motor mount2 points

Hardbodies on light chassis are pretty top heavy, if your getting into it a lexan shell fiber taped is much more durable too. The outbacks are shortwheelbase with a small motor making them a bit harder to modify, a ftx outback highrock is much bigger and really capable, they are also sold as the RGT EX86110 the 50£ extra vs the outback is worth it imo.2 points

Just do the registration, Its 9 quid and a very simple multiple choice test. Then your covered no matter what you fly2 points

Drive shaft support installed today. Thing thing is looking a bit more purposeful now and I'm still feeling like I got a deal. Maybe some day soon the weather will clear up and I'll actually get to run it!2 points

having to check calendar to see if it is April the 1st. £1 ? if your choice really is putting it in the bin or someone collecting it for £1 ... then dont put it in the bin, I will collect it for £1. I will use it, then when you change your mind you can have it back for £1. or Why not just stick it in the loft for a few months?2 points

Just watched a movie. they were using go pro cameras but they used the term tapes and not SD card. I bet a lot of people were wondering what the hell a tape is. Im off to listen to the latest album on wax cylinder2 points

Freakin’ Props!!! So some may remember I run SDi propshafts. I love them, they are super skinny and very minimalist.... Sadly they’ve not been available for aeons and now seem to be breaking some 🙈🤬💩 Uh oh!!! Not being able to get replacement parts for ages made me have a look around.... I found some UJs from China that measured up good on paper so I ordered up a few.... Unfortunately when they arrived I noticed that one of the UJ pins was held in with a circlip! 💩💩💩 That was never gonna stay on there long!.. At first I thought perhaps I’ll throw some epoxy over it... Nah!!!... Get Willy out!!! You remember? Willy the welder!!! So I took the circlip off and gave it a blat!!! A wee bit of filing later and this was much betterer!!! And back together ready for action!!! And before you all wonder.... Here’s an obligatory perv shot of the rig ❤️👍 Sho Shexy!!! ❤️❤️ Keep On RC’ing folks!!1 point

The outback ranger 1/10 can be made into a decent little crawler but will end up costing more, the FTx mauler is not bad but not a scale rig. The Carisma adventure scale coyote is pretty good but a little over budget1 point

A Close Shave!!! So been looking at this mod for a while.... Basically you cut the bottom of the diff section off the axle and replace it with a 3D printed part that allows way more clearance than standard and is designed to be nice and slidy!!! Here’s the new diff cover - The Barber - By Progressive RC Oops! A bit of tweaking bit by bit and we get here 👍 Very nice!! And here’s how we’re looking now 😎 Cant wait to get out and try them! Certainly be less hang ups 👍 Oh, you may also notice I’m now running Pins on the rear. This was to tame the rear a little as I was finding it still had a little too much grip on the super grippy rocks I was at the other weekend.... Ta folks!1 point

Is it wrong I’m just as excited about the 1/10 Henry as I am the Tamiya Hilux 😁1 point

Axial SCX10 or SCX10II is your best bet. Probably worth just saving up and spending a little more and buying well to being with. You won’t regret it1 point

looks like i will be joining this club just so i have a faster truck than a crawler to run with wifes outlaw when we go out and ordered a battery tray from everclear1 point

If that's what I think it is, that's super rare.!!! I had the Blazing Blazer many many years ago 😉1 point

So, i am thinking about closing down my facebook RC Traildrivers UK group, it just has not grown any thing like it should of done, still only about 15 members after nearly a year of being up and running1 point

I think the flared wheel arches and perspective make it look worse in the photo than it does in the flesh. This is a picture I took after trimming the fenders and getting the shell centred as best I could over the two axles. It still looks a bit off, especially with the shadow on the wheels, but I’m person it all seems nicely lined up.1 point

Rebranded hobby wing systems can be good value for money, Robitronic razer ten systems are good ive got two of them and theyve been faultless' even after i managed to fill one motor with water just changed the bearings and its been fine since. Reedy, absima also do rebranded hobbywing sytems1 point

Kev had a vid out a couple of days ago, he didn't break it, that says something?1 point

Nothing more for me to say, Its not ‘new’ enough for me to change from my two, and still looks like its needs steel driveshafts. Still if you were after one and didnt already have one its a bonus. Good to see its not more expensive either.1 point

Oooh nice. I used to go here https://thedepartmentcqb.co.uk/ I would like to get back into it but that probably won't happen until the COVID situation calms down.1 point

Work has started converting this 🍋 to a useable 4s basher! Aluminium motor plate is in, replacing the crappy stock plastic one along with a more substantial slipper setup and steel 0.8mod spur/pinion The weight of the motor is known to bend these motor plates on heavy landings so I went and printed a support. Not my design but I wish it was! It's very well thought out Power wise it's running an Absima system removed from my Hyper 7. 2300kv motor, 120amp ESC I just need to shim the diffs then it'll be ready for it's first run 🙂 I'm interested to see what gives out first, the plastic drive shafts or the plastic crown/pinion gears!1 point

Early models coyote v1 etc were prone to sticky shocks (even my kit ones were) but wearing them in and rebuilding a couple of times normally fixed the issue.1 point

Sorry ignore my post, just spoke with their tech support and its a dead fan. I got straight through on the phone to the CML tech support, quick convo, emailed them the invoice - 20mins later they email to say a new fan is in the post. Can't get better service than that! Edit: New fan arrived already, 20hrs after calling their tech support. Amazing. Man this car is fast....1 point

Good location shouts! I'll certainly be in touch we can plan together. 🙂 Just 1 day, I was thinking of keeping it casual, 10am start, finish early afternoon, 3-4 hour crawl. Can have a bit of fun without it becoming too much of a long drawn out day, especially those who might travel far.1 point

Took the minis out for a run with the kiddos. It's a nice change of pace from the madness of 1/8 bashers 🙂1 point

That looks great, very inventive! Does it affect the handling much as far as wanting to roll over with a higher CG?1 point

I'm just finalising the design. It'll be deeper than the one a posted previously as I found the battery needed more support. I'll post up some more pics once it's finished printing.1 point

Hey guys, this is a LONG time coming, I think it's nearly 10 years since I had a proper RC. I got sidetracked with life and the people I did RC with kind of went their own ways, you know the story that is life! 😄 I've got a new RC setup, I was pondering for a while if to do something silly crazy again but the more I thought about it, the more I just wanted to have something I could get out and enjoy without tons of maintenance or requiring a runway. I was thinking along the lines of a Traxxas Slash 4x4 again but they've had their time and a lot of the hopups that made them to the standard I like were all discontinued. So I've gone with a... Hyper! because they are tough out the box, good drivetrain with potential to beef up further if I ever wanted to - and they are real good value for money! So here we are, spec list: HoBao Hyper VS 1/8th Buggy Roller https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/396617 Hobbywing EZRUN MAX8 2200kv Combo https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/397267 Sanwa MT-S https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/404759 Intellect TX 2400mAh Lipo https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/440622 Overlander SuperSports 2s 5000mAh 35C (x4, I'm running 4s) https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/378702 Etronix 30kg Digi HV Servo https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/1334075 Fastrax Heavy Duty Servo Horn https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/363122 Comes to about £700 all in. I was going to say it's a budget project but I hadn't realised how much I've spent until adding it up now. Oops. Probably the most weight my bench has held in a while too: However ! I am doing something a little different, I'm going to be mounting a Ford F-100 shell on: https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/pro-line-1966-ford-f-100-clear-body-376521 I just need to find out how to fix some new body mounts, it sits on a 1/8th buggy perfect! (as most Shortcourse shells do) For now it is just a 4s setup, nice and chill to zoom around and if you've been following Modelsport social media, it's also more ideal for the grass track we go to. I'll put it all together and then get some pics up once I've painted the shell, I'm thinking retro colours, not sure if to do 2 tone or not, ideas welcome but I like this kind of thing:1 point
-
Here we go guys! It worked really, I used Proline mounts, it feels weird to drive with such a high bodyshell, I'm expecting it to roll on every corner but being a 1/8th buggy underneath it's on rails. Very fun car!! I've lowered it after these pics as it wasn't catching shell as much as I was expecting to, less arch gap, of course the shell is much more battered now after a few laps!1 point
