  9. Not my models, but for a mate, fixing up some broken / old trucks. Old nitro 4wd, kyosho maybe something else, bent chassis back to shape and a deep clean, the front ends ruined and needs some way to re attach to the chassis. Next up was fixing the top plate that had snapped , used the bottom of the old battery box to bodge it. Biggest issue was the screw holes for the diff housings are shattered with only one good screw holding down the front was a tricky thing to fix. Solution a fabricate a plate that holds the diff down via the hinge pin bar, clips over and affixed to the chassis also strenthening the front end. As the old battery / reciver box was deleted, made a top rear brace for esc / batteries. Final thing was convert it to electric. Popped a spare motor mount to the chassis and max 8 esc flat 4s battery and 2400kv motor for a quick test. Next up is this 1/10 kyosho

  11. Okay its been time to get a bit more positive with the "Pig in a poke", first up it was time to tackle low speed modulation, it comes with a 1060, not bad but could be a lot better so fitted a Hobbywing 1080 and took a bit of time setting it up just nice, low speed modulation is now a LOT better. Next up was not happy with the wheel hex`s, i found the wheels did not seem to fit just nice then remembered i had a set of Brass 12mm hex extenders, so on they went, seems better and as a result the truck now has a slightly wider track. As a future mod i am tempted to remove the rear silver bed, (shell is bolted 2 part) and get some Black 3mm plasticard and attempt to make a kinda flatbed/pari daker type bed for it and have the lipo mounted in a box right behind the cab, i would likely double up the bed base to 6mm, with 3mm sides

  12. Just a reminder for people like me who own lipo’s but rarely use their RCs lately. Just check your lipo’s. Condition and voltages. I have 20 or so Lipo’s, stored in BatSafes. Just checked the voltages and all seems ok, but two appeared to drop out of balance. Nothing major but one cell was 0.2v out. Just trying to rectify with a charge/discharge to balance out. Hopefully be ok as theyre quite expensive 4S Lipo’s

  13. Took out one of my hard body builds. Scx10 ii axles, injora chassis with two speed forward gearbox. 35 turn 540 can with a 1080 on 2s. Injora jeep wrangler 313mm wheelbase body. Really good fun to drive. First body I have ever used magnets.

  14. Well yesterday rather than today 😊 Started on the Baja Flux build, started on the rear end first and will move to the front once the rear is complete, obviously. Few places just mocked up for now with what came in the kit but will be changing them to either carbon fibre or alloy. Changing majority of fixings to stainless steel as I go.

  17. Something I have wanted to do for years with an RC! Was a lot of fun but sadly underestimated how much extra juice the paddles and the sheer open space would end up draining the batteries super quick! Will do this again in the future with more batteries.

  20. The Pay and Play day was great though we did cut it short due to it being extremely muddy which was very interesting on road tyres. That being said I was really surprised at how capable the Navara was, I wasn't convinced it do half of what it did. The Hill decent control works extremely well. Only got one pic but I think there were a few people taking videos so if I come across any I'll post them up.

  22. The old Shell Oil Refinery on Anglesey. I wanted to go for a look round years ago when some buildings were still there, sadly all gone today when we went for a nosey. Took some photos of what is left of the pipework. And yes, I did open the small valve in the middle and yes it started hissing! 🙄 The above shows the base of one of the eleven 'tanks'. Can just make out the curve of it in grey, huge things. Bit of research online shows that some of the pipes led underground to the coast at Amlwch Port, a few miles away, where they would unload the large oil tankers using a floating pumping station. After this was processed it was pumped down some other pipes which go all the way to Ellesmere Port, which is about 60 miles away. I believe the pipes are still present underground. The land is currently for sale (203 acres), there were plans to build a prison 😕 originally but that changed to building a Centre Parcs 🤢 Now it's highly likely that it will be purchased by the government to build housing for the construction workers of the nearby nuclear power station, which is going to be rebuilt on the previous nuclear power station (Wylfa).

  23. That's a bold styling statement. and an interesting pricepoint. Put those two together, and you have a recipe for a truck that will stick to the store shelves like a limpet.

  24. In no way the fastest but, posting as after months of this gathering dust I finally got on a BP high an painted the sod! So stoaked on the results as this was my first 4 color job. I did do a patina layer after the first main color coat ann it came out so subtle! It made the over spray look intentional 😄 Proline 66 F150 crawler shell with numbers from Chingy!

  27. So I stayed up well into the early hours this morning to get this finished. Must admit I was very impressed with the MCI Decals! Only thing I struggled with, theres some Chinese lettering that was white on white backing…. I must have missed this and binned them. Also the MCI Ones arent numbered so I had to use pictures on Tamiya Base to find out where to put them all. Black on Black on Smoke. Easy enough The Porsche’s so far With his 1995 JGTC Opponent! Theres some gaps appearing as Ive spaced them a bit better. Theres also something else on the way going next to the Supra 😉

  29. I own a Axial Wraith which I love but for my sons I got a FTX Hi-Rock and my youngest has a Axial 1/24 scale Jeep in all goestly for the price if the Hi-Rock you cant go wrong, my so. (Age 7) has put that thing through the ringer, broke some parts but its cheap to fix and its amazingly capable. Goes everywhere my Wraith does and that thing is more than Double (Vanquish upgrades) the price! some pics for comparison of the two bigger rigs

  30. I'm not OCD or anything but... Printing this to drop straight in (including the radius at the bottom) is very satisfying! I could of done an extra top layer to make it slightly cleaner.

  31. Thought it was about time I got the WPL E-1 properly wet and muddy! Well the real one is supposed to operate in these conditions so I thought it only fair to test this in a scale-realistic manner... BlackSeaRC

  36. There's two routes you can go with this- -Stock style body for more of a scale rig, looks great however you'll be limited to the wheels size and amount of suspension travel you can have due to binding on the body. - Injora tarantula style cage where you aren't that limited to what you can run however you don't get the scale look. Personally I went for the cage style as that's what I prefer.

  37. I've been doing a few hard bodies lately, never put them on any crawlers as the weight put me off. But I think they do look really cool. I picked up this Injora cherokee pick up body (jeep pick up truck is a comanche). Fits really good. Most of the trucks I have need lower rear shock towers or a cantilever shock setup to allow the rear bed to sit at the right height. Straight on at the correct height on the scx10 pro chassis. I tried to get the nardo grey Audi colour. The nearest I could get was ts32 haze grey. So in the picture the body is sat on the stock rear body mounts and the front bumper. Magnetic mounts would probably work. It would be good if I could swap the bodies reasonably easy, both bodies on magnetic mounts and the front bumper to change. The pictures aren't great and the body isn't finished, I was just curious to see if it would fit. I do think it looks pretty good.

  39. Here’s my thoughts, £780 in the states plus a typical delivery service say £20, yeah so thats a bargain considering its an American based company selling to an American customer. now if we want one we have to pay more, first off, shipping, yes “by the boat load” but that and having it flown over has gone up quite a bit recently due to the situation were in at this time. Then when it does arrive to the U.K it has to be unloaded, processed then ready to be shipped off to next, the cost of diesel has also risen along with staff wages and again the world as it is. then onto British trucks, we had a massive shortage during COVID to the extent where i even had a letter asking me if i wanted to return to driving, so wages increased massively if you where a dedicated trucker oh and that old diesel thing again too… so at a regional hub, smaller vehicles delivering to their own distribution hub etc. etc. etc. by the time its in our hands, its been in twenty others too all at a cost to us at the end of the chain. but some people (myself included) choose to, shall we say, suck up this cost, because its what we have chosen to buy, its the reality we live in today im afraid. Don’t forget that all us rc’ers are fortunate to have this little bit of luxury when so many cant afford to “exist” the other option would be to fly over and get one in your luggage for the return trip, would that cost more than £310 to do?? I genuinely have no idea so yeah, thats my thoughts, also just to mention, the hobby shop slice of the pie is very small too….

  42. As stated above you can get lipo voltage checkers on ebay/amazon for just a few quid and they work well. A word of warning though, don't leave you lipos fully charged for more than a day or so....otherwise they will become stressed and balloon, which will ruin them.

  43. good thinking, the bumper is pretty solid plastic but, yeah I didnt think of that. There is a cross brace that the body clips into. I'll give it a measure later. see if any other brands parts will fit..
