  1. Haven't posted in a while, but have to warn everyone: i just fell for a scam, beware. I've ordered an expensive dress for my wife, but was gobsmacked to discover this after unpacking. I'd never thought i'd fall for a scam like this, i don't even know how they got me. Can't send it back either, i've already opened the box and accidentally painted a few parts. Let that be a lesson to all of you, learn from my mistake.

  7. So i got Rexy out of the workshop yesterday as my of my mates popped round and i needed to have look at his Discovery over the pit, it was annoying me that it was getting covered in dust in the workshop so i have ordered 1 of those stretchy car covers, so when that arrives i will give Rexy a wash and dry and put it back in the workshop and put the cover over it so it doesnt get scratched as it was concerning me especially as i got it Graphene coated last year, this was the first time it was outside since September last year, i missed looking at it outside and i am still smitten after all the years i have owned it

  9. Had this delivered this morning from Appliance Electronics The plan is build it into a Ecto type truck, I absolutely love the look of the Matt Black RTR version, but not a fan of RTR electronics/wheels/tyres/lower spec parts and not being a kit 🀣🀣🀣 I’ve studied the differences between the kit and the Ecto and ordered the parts and body required, also I’ve ordered all the electronics off Aliexpress I’ve gone for the 6 channels ally wheel with foam version of the Radio So for now I’ll make a start on the kit and hopefully the Ecto parts will be with me by the end of the week, I’ve also ordered some beadlocks off Amazon, but I’ll keep them a surprise fir now πŸ‘

  10. So according to my photos I started this in late April or early May, and as is typical of any of my builds the tantamount of my planning is "I want to make something I think is cool" and that's about as far as any plans ever go. I'm never in a rush and burnout and enthusiasm are sporadic and random with all of my projects but I'm rarely not doing something, even if it is just doing the "stare and think" part of a project. There is a rough plan but not much more and I can never actually describe what that is. The size i have going here is 48"W x 28"D x 20"H and its not going to just be a prop, its real purpose is photo booth and clean bench. So to start i made a floor and 3(ish) walls from scrap wood i had, seemed a logical place to startπŸ‘ I got an LED strip that was being chucked out by my Mum when she redid her kitchen so that was a bonus. It'll do fine until i get a better direction of what I'm doing. Then I found some stirling board and replaced the rubbish walls with slightly less rubbish walls. I was lucky enough to be graced with a deal for a boatload of scale stuff from a top man which gave me an amazing start. Then painted some stuff grey with the finest cheapest wood primer i could find in town and a couple of coats of varnish on top of that. I got some sheets of embossed brick paper to see what i think of it and help me decide where to go next and am using a sheet of thin plywood as a door to decide what layout to use and am moving everything around to decide on a layout I like while i wait on inspiration to hit so I can progress further. I scored a plywood pallet from work and that has given me the material to get the final walls made at the right size, I did think about buying a sheet of ply to use but I knew if I was patient something would turn up that was freeπŸ˜‰, I'll tear it down and replace them at some point. So now I'm just slowly grabbing bits and bobs along the way to add to the garage to fill it out, shouldn't really be buying more as I could probably fill two with the stuff I have but that's not always really the point. Last night I changed it up to a different layout to see what i thought. Of course I needed some shelves above to make other projects be in arms reach incase the notion hits. And an idea of the chaos surrounding the garageπŸ˜‚ So thats it for now until I feel the want/need/inspiration to do more. Could be days or months, but I'll update this when there's something worth showing......

  13. Mika HΓ€kkinen tribute body shell, for my Schumacher Atom 2 GT12 race car. Now it's just a case of driving well enough to do the name justice... no pressure, then!! Body is a Bittydesign Seven20. I'm not a fan of McLaren road cars, but as this bodyshell (one of the best on the market) is a McLaren, there was only one livery for me! Based on HΓ€kkinen's 1999 McLaren MP4/14, as seen at the Belgian, British and French Grands Prix, where they weren't allowed to use the "West" cigarette branding. 14. You are all making me blush... haha. πŸ€— Appreciate the support. As much as I can come across as a bit of D**k Head sometimes (my wife reminds me weekly daily) I really am just a normal guy enjoying this hobby. I'm really lucky to get to do it as a job now. I think it's hard for a lot of people to see past the stereotypical 'YouTuber' thing, we all just get chucked in the same pot. I've worked full time since leaving school at 16... 24yrs of that in the RAF. I've got 3 kids... live in a rented house and shop in Aldi & Asda. No shame at all... As for Kev, he's also worked hard from what I've seen, but he's on a very different path to me (a very different path) and he's doing really well for himself and I hope he reaches his goals. I may be wrong...but I'm sure he doesn't do eBay anymore, his YouTube revenue will be his biggest income. Anyway.. thanks again. 🫑

  15. For those interested in the development of my old 190E 2.5-16, I've been frantically putting-in the weekends. Most of the work has not been cosmetic. However, the highlights include: - ditching those horrible alloys for some gorgeous, period-correct wheels. - ditching the horrible grill for the right one. - swapping back to orange indicators and side repeaters. - custom stainless exhaust system (sounds glorious!). - swapping springs to get the ride height sorted (still going to add 5mm, all-round). - full service. - coolant flush and change. - Greenstuffs performance air filter (panel). - interior work and fixes. - undoing the previous owner's sound system mess... and basically everything else they've done! Although I initially had buyer's remorse, I've fallen in love with it, not going to lie. Next major thing on the list is to have the damaged bodykit and bumper repaired, which includes having them painted body-coloured. Before and after (so far)...

  25. 10k a day is way off.... It says he gets 1.5m views a day, which could be anywhere from Β£1500 to Β£6000... in our niche, Ad revenue varies that much. However, according to social blade (pretty accurate), Kev's getting about 500k views a day, and I'd say a fair few of them views are from 'shorts', which pay pretty much nothing (1 million shorts views would be like Β£20 ish). Either way, he's doing well, and good luck to him. I don't think it would matter how much money I had, my Wife would still shop in Asda/Aldi..... and she'd also still ban me from turning the heating up and using the tumble dryer lol. We both work hard, we have a roof over our head and food in the cupboards, anything else is a bonus.

  26. A special one for me In my midlife crisis! Im trying to get as many "iconic" at least to me cars from Gran Turismo 3, but in Tamiya form. Ive also tightened my rules and where possible, they need to be very very good condition, preferably on a new to me chassis. I present the Xanavi R34 GTR on a TB-02. Built but never ran. Please note the wheels have spacers and the body has no body clips so it wouldnt run like this. Cant wait to get a pic of this with my others. Dont think Ive ever had a TB02, seems A very nice chassis for 2003! All thats left now is a Pennzoil & Calsonic R34 GTR and a Raybrig NSX! And a lottery win!

  27. Starting work a little later today, and Ive pulled my shoulder so no gym time which was originally my plan. So cracked on with some RC. Got the Egress decalled up. Servo is on order, then I may actually run it, the undertray means it should stay clean ish? Also "finished" the BBX. It needs tyre glue then itll run. Ive not got the driver in, or the window netting, or all the lights but yea. Theres what 30 years between these two if you take into account the original Egress? They look like theyre from the same era IMO. That must mean Tamiya have nailed the BBX as it looks so old but is modern?

  28. So here is how yesterday went: I noticed a facebook post, at 12:55 yesterday, MB Models selling Tamiya Egress Black Editions, a grail RC for me for Β£299!! Half RRP, although they do sell for Β£449 ish. I dont believe Ive ever used MB Models before, but I ordered and paid at 12:56. 12:56 I paid for it 13:30 Order Status Updated and Dispatched The next day: 13:06 Item Delivered 24 hours and 10 Minutes from pressing pay to being in my arms. Shout out MB Models. Also a Motor/ESC and paint from Modelsport Look how beautiful this is!? Now what, I dont know? I shouldnt have bought it but its here now. Do I build it? I think so

  29. As a 'YouTuber' that does these Raffalls (in fact, I think I was the first), I felt I should give you some context to why I do them. I started them so I don't have to do 'sponsored' videos for mobile games, ball shavers, smart wallets... and all the other 'QVC' adverts people do. I've been doing 1 ish a month, and nearly all of them have been RC Cars I've built...put time in to, or have some value to me/the channel. I also give 10% to charity. Kev doesn't need to do them, I mean that's pretty clear... but it's up to him what he does and not us. My motives are different to his. I 'm not in a position yet to be able to sustain a full time channel without other sources of income. I don't do patreon, or memberships..and I've stopped the 'buy me a coffee' as I don't believe any of them offer value to the person spending their money. I can't believe some creators even have a direct PayPal link in their description! I spend Β£17k last year (Apr 22-23) on RC Cars and Equipment, and then around Β£20k on 'admin' costs... ie a workshop, fuel, power, internet.... tax etc... So Β£37k+ before I'd even taken a wage. Yeah, I could spend less.... but then I'd not be able to do as much as I do, and keep the momentum going. Nobody is forced to take part, and I try to add more than just monetary value to my competitions. Anyway, I really don't need to be explaining myself lol... πŸ˜‡

  30. So. Took a fair few of them out: The E Revo was ballistic. Forgot how fast it was! The Maxx needs some ESC calibration but was faultless. Featuring a DJI drone, Im awaiting footage fro. The drone Then time for the GOATs. The XRT and the X Maxx Great day. No breakages. Other than me! My girlfriend accidently reversed into my leg with the X Maxx, knocked me over, Banged and cut my face on thr floor. At least that repair wont cost me any money.

  34. I appreciate this means nothing to most of you. But I work for myself, and sub contract to larger companies. I did a job a few weeks ago with a guy. Job went fine, I invoiced as normal. Was working with the same guy today, he met me and proceeded to give me a bunch of Β£20 notes. Confused I asked huh? He said there was a lot of scrap from that last job we did and that was my cut? What a nice guy! He didnt have to do that! Id have never known!

  37. A TT02 Chassis cover as Im actually using my TT02 this time. I also noticed Carson do a reasonably priced Tamiya Bag, similar to the old school Beatties bags you could get as a kid! So picked one up! Shout out to TTP for the excellent service as usual! Now as Ive said before, my Dads a comic collector, and he has always lived by one mantra when collecting. First just obtain the product you want. Regardless of condition. Just obtain it. You can still look for a better one, but first of all, get it. So. As we know Ive recently decided to relive my youth, and pick up the Tamiya's I wanted as kid. Combining this with Gran Turismo 3. This isnt the rarest or most expensive on my list of JGTCs, the R34's take that award, but this is the one I wanted most. Ideally on a TA02W, but for now I have the worst condtion TL-01 TOMs Supra. Ive also already got a slightly better one on the way that I won last night πŸ™„ For now Ill make one up using the until I find a MINT TA02 Variant. I also got a Manual for my TL-01 Focus. Cause I forgot I already had it....

  42. Did a bit more on the SRX. Theres more in my thread. Its not finished yet. Leaves me here: Cossies: Martini: Random: I think maybe sell my E Revo 2.0 & both Revo Nitro's to get some cash together then I can move into 90s Touring Cars. Mainly JGTC first, Castrol TOMs Supra and a the trio of Skyline GTRs (Loctite, Calsonic, Pennzoil) are the hit list.

  45. So im going to tell this story exactly how it played out...... at least thats what my girlfriend thinks....... As I stated prior to buying the Pennzoil R34, I was 'banned' from wasting money on R/Cs, at least for 6 months. That went out the window when the Pennzoil came up...... However, truth be told, Ive only ever 'understood' and wanted the Touring Cars from the 90s when it comes to Tamiya. I started this hobby in 1994, with an M-01 Mini Cooper, and I lusted over the Rally cars and Japanese Touring Cars in Beatties and the Tamiya Catalogues..... Now Im in a better position financially, mainly because Im no longer 8 years old, Ive been doing that. But other than the Hotshot, that my friend had handed down from his Dad. I knew next to nothing about anything Tamiya did in terms of off roaders. However, on my Tamiya journey, I've realised that theres some really special off road Tamiya's that exist. So as Ive been part of various Facebook groups and forums, Ive ended up wanted some of these off roaders, and have been lucky enough to obtain an Avante Black, Egress Black, Astute 2022 and a BBX. For some reason, the Top Force Evo stuck out, and it became a model of interest. Id been eyeing them up brand new.... Recently, I was also lucky enoough to nab an RC10CC, from my LHS, on the first run. I got the text message it at had arrived and straight away went to pay and pick it up. I got home and was like, hmmm. I dont have any emotional attachment to Associated, or the RC10, or even RC Racing. So I stuck it on eBay before Xmas, for a not stupid but higher than RRP price, and truth be told forgot about it. It sat sealed in my collection. Randomly, I then got the notification it had sold, for a decent price, nothing crazy, but hey that wasnt really my intention to profit massively. So off it went. Now back to the Top Force Evo. I noticed one for sale on a facebook group. I never buy off Facebook unless I personally got and collect. However, some beer's may have been drank, and I may have struck a deal for a 2021 Top Force Evo, built but never used. I feel it was a good deal, so off I sent the funds. Today this arrived. Its beautiful! Ill get better pics, but its all there. Now thats the story my Mrs heard. Truth is, I bought this on Sunday, after a few beers, in Pizza Hut for her nephews 13th birthday........ I then lucked out, because earlier today, someone bought my RC10CC that I forgot I even had for sale on eBay and saved my bacon! So the one in one out policy worked, and I even made a little bit of money. MAN MATHS!!

  47. Not really the postie but story time. As most of us know, Tamiya seems to tug at our nostalgic side. So I decided to apply that logic to buying a model, being as this is Tamiya's nostalgic release. These days, I (and others Im guessing) are guilty of just ordering things online, paying with Apple Pay/Paypal/Credit Card and it turning up a few days later. I decided to do this differently. I couldve got this sooner with "online" methods, but I went to my local modelshop, and ordered the BBX from them. I put the actual cash away in an envolope and waiting for a call to say it was here..... Today was that day. Thanks to Bobby @ FTD Models in Coventry
