Grogg
Just about finished building a mount for FPV for my Rock Socker, so that the camera, transmitter and antenna are all hidden within the body, lots and lots of cutting and measuring for that, I'm not joking when I say thousands of individual cuts. Still haven't started to paint the body yet, I really need to get a new Stanley knife now that I've worn out my favourite and only one with making the FPV mount, but can't find the cheap rubbish ones that you used to get in packs of 6 for a quid - and with a lot of replacement blades too, I actually prefer those cheap ones to the most expensive Stanley knives you can buy, I find the cheap ones balance better and are easier to control especially when I need fine control and to make fine cuts than any of the so called ''better'' ones no matter the price bracket or brand - I've tried them all for some reason I use Stanley knives a hell of a lot so am very very fussy about them, and of course none of the blades you can buy fit the cheap ones, nobody expects you to get over 5 years worth of use out of them, and I don't want to cut out stencils with a knife I'm not comfortable working with, especially very sharp ones. So I'm really having a hard time finding a replacement for my favourate cheap as chips plastic orange Stanley knife, and have resorted to ordering a few different Swann Morton handles and blades in the hopes of finding a decent replacement for my Poundland special that I will reliably be able to get replacement blades for. I must say it's gotten extremely hard to buy Stanley knives, replacement blades for them, and even hobby knifes nowadays, and the selection has become extremely limited and restricted - and I'm not looking for something to invaded England yet alone Normandy with or anything you would call a very specialised design or tool. If you are going to use a scalpel then be bloody careful. Do not put as much pressure on it as they can snap with ease. Being carbon steel it means they are bloody sharp but brittle. Stay away from the 10 blade (big curved). They are only good for surgery. 11s are just too pointy to be of use. 15s are ok, but ideally you want a pointed blade. 10a is the one you want. Have used these for modelling for past 30 years. PS-If you are using a rule to cut down, dont use a plastic rule, use a metal rule. The top 1/4 inch of my thumb can vouch for that. Single use Stanley craft knives £2.50. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stanley-Throwaway-Knives-10-601/dp/B0001IW5DG/ref=asc_df_B0001IW5DG/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=411318662632&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13654402245400789051&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046134&hvtargid=pla-632923468310&psc=1&th=1&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=92204640911&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=411318662632&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13654402245400789051&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046134&hvtargid=pla-632923468310 Edited June 6, 2023 by totlxtc

I ordered quite the selection. It surprising just how handy having a Stanley or other sharp knife around the house is, I've just always used what people consider to generally be throw away Stanley knive - the cheap unbranded middle sized copies of the real Stanley branded on and a specific copy design too. But even getting scalpels is quite difficult, Swann Morton was the only brand I could find in stock anywhere, and a limited selection of their scalpel range too, not just the surgical stuff, but also stuff marketed specifically for hobby and craft use. And the number of retailers that sell them, not just Swann Morton but any brand is few and far between, it really feels like they've clamped down on knives specifically the access to cheap ''throw away'' knives. If you know of a good source please share, as my blue ''everyday'' for opening mail and cutting things where blade sharpness is not an is is almost full rusted and need of being replaced soon. Stormbringer
Have you looked on Amazon they carry or used to carry a fair selection of craft knives including scalpels https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=craft+knives+and+blades&crid=3LHSAB740ZL8M&sprefix=craft+knives%2Caps%2C81&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_3_12 Edited June 7, 2023 by Stormbringer

I did more on my FPV mounting system, nearly finished it. And started to have a proper look at what's involved in attending R.O.S.S.A or such like event for RC cars, you know things like logistics, costs, what's involved, what equipment I will require, and if it's silly to attend such an event with just the one RC. Can't start painting or cutting my stencils out until all the Swann Morton scalpels and handles are delivered.

tanveer
Outcast 4s chassis snapped in half today, no fault of the trucks though. Hit head on into a kraton 6s both going pretty much flat out. 1
Popular Post Tadas
Injora parts arrived - had some fun replacing parts. I feel like watch maker while working on 1/18 model 🙂 Wheels are too big (62x20,5mm) - ordered closer to stock (56x22mm). And since we had a "car" crash - didn't see my sons Bronco and ran over it with my Xmaxx.... Had to order new body 🙂

Popular Post Alex97
Painted the mini shell, this is th first time I've done free hand masking and it turned out ok. I couldn't decide on just one colour so I'm going with three, red, British racing green, and metallic blue. Blue will be my M03 shelfer as that's what was on the box, red will be little 4wd rally car but I'm not sure on the chasiss I'm going to use yet and Green will be my everyday one that I might actually use!
MrCake
Broke it somehow. No jumps or big crashes so not sure if this is a weak spot of the DR8? I broke the front 2 shocks last year but that was driving full pelt down a hole in a field I didn't spot so wasn't surprised about that occasion. Thankfully I had already run 1 x pack and was nearly through the 2nd when I noticed the handling was odd and saw this so not a total bust. 1 1

Those are usually very large and a bright green colour? 😄

Or a wooden door even, for that Hill Billy/Titanic look - 2 if you want to save Leo as well as Kate.
