Yes its been raining non stop, so i am fitting ZOHD Ko-pilot GPS flight controller to the Rambler flying wing instead

Rain and 50mph winds down my way!  Typical for it to be on a day off when time out RC'ing isnt an issue!

    4. Gaz!

      Gaz!

Luckily rain has stopped play here too, saved me shredding up a set of off road tyres on tarmac, hopefully my road boots land tomorrow.

kids break up for summer hols=rain and wind for most of the time whilst we were melting last month…

  2. Very early finish from work, i really should get the Volantex Phoenix 2000 V2 out of its box and finish building it...........but its just to hot, it can wait

  3. Looking for a 313mm scale body, is the Axial cherokee clear shell worth getting, or any other suggestions

  4. so still wanting a TRX4 Ranger XLT, may have to sell of all but one of my other cars to fund it might not be such a bad idea though as not using all the cars, even new flux 80HD has only been run on street just once

Still very undecided on this, i could sell the Carisma, Maverick and Jumpshot flux and put a small amount to it, but one thought i had what if i get a bronco i wont be happy when it rolls 30ft down a climb and gets banged up, the shell would be VERY expensive to replace

    3. Redback

      Redback

Imo the bronco shells quite tough but as you say costly, yet to crack the shell on mine but its started to fail in places mostly on the plastic inserts where the screws mount,Get an expensive model, pay the expensive repair price... You could sell all your models if your only going to trail drive. But i dont think you will enjoy it as much as you expect, ive never fallen in love with mine, i like the difflocking but its barely used (unlocked) unless im sending it. So full of frills but no thrills.

    4. Lone-wolf

      Lone-wolf

I will say i am ruling the bronco out, but still gonna sell a few other rigs and put the money into a trail/crawler, its what i run and enjoy

Maybe its time to sell up some planes and associated bits as i now have to do a 48 mile each way trip to fly, concentrate on the rc cars and see if i can raise a tidy sum toward Ranger bronco

@turok007 no matter how you look at the options its a very expensive rig, this was main reason i bottled out last time, and ended up getting the Ford pickup

  6. Just had a weeks holiday, just had second AZ jab, gained another days leave for Monday and just had email to say new RC being delivered Monday, i call that happy days

Yes, I've had issues over the last few days.  It was showing zero views for quite a time during the 48hour period, total views of some videos had actually decreased since the previous day and so had subscriber numbers.  Seems to have sorted itself in the last hour or so.

  9. Had the Hobao on a FB sales page started to get the "whats lowest you will take" messages so pulled it, might have to consider breaking it

  12. When i joined this forum flying rc was my main hobby, but due to no longer being able to fly at local club i think my flying days are coming to an end, this makes me feel like archiving my FB flying group, and selling up the planes

@Bert_w164 its because the cell tower has started knocking out my 2.4g radio, its not safe and irresponsible to fly knowing your getting signal fails, plane could crash or flyaway, i have 3 choices, call it a day, spend a lot of money and go open tx radio to drop to 933mhz or try to find another place to fly

    3. Lone-wolf

      Lone-wolf

Trying to be proactive, i have just ordered a ZOHD Drift motor glider as this is small and quiet maybe get away flying it from a park

  15. XT90`s suck ha ha, just tried to solder a 90, iron set to 370, touched on and got solder to flow and pin collapsed into plastic, done what i should of done and used EC5`s

I found a great way to click the brass into the plastic using a small metal dowel and a pair of grips, no hammering and deforming, and i would always observe any caution if doing a lipo this way..........no shorting out, dont want to turn a lipo into a "flashbang"

Once the battery reaches a certain level, it cannot go ordinary parcel post and quialifies as dangerous goods. This needs a special carrier, with special licences.....which costs a lot more.

The regulation isn;t specific about quantities.

That's cool Jack. If you want any help with stuff just let me know.
Ideally you're going to want a spool for the centre, heavier diff fluids all round and some decent road tyres (sure you know all that 😉 ). GRP 1/8th tyres are what you want in that regard, available from Trackside Spares online.
      Good luck with it.

Bright colours @Jack Reacherfor definite and two tone imho is always good as it can help you tell which way your car is facing at a distance.

      Bright green?

Either white (or as mentioned, bright silver), or if you want something different.. Purple. See in this video, i marked the time:

The interior of that monster is purple/green, and it actually looks really good. Unusual, but i like it.

  21. "Buy a hobbywing for speed runner", "oh look it wont fit, no probs cut the wires down cut some chassis away" its in, and faulty, send it back oh wait i cut the wires down, cant send it back, so its in the bin now, project has come to an end, not happy

  23. brushless for speed question, is sensored better than non sensored

    1. Show previous comments  3 more
    2. Tug

      Tug

They used to switch from sensored to sensorless once the rpm was past a certain point. So for speed, no sensor required.

    3. pieman5

      pieman5

As far as im aware, all the records in all ROSSA classes have all been set with sensorless motors. Only one im not 100% sure on is the 1s class, but its more than likely sensorless.

    4. Redback

      Redback

@Tug This is true however you can only get boost / timing features with full sensored, whilst less efficent you get more power im to belive. Least with the xerun esc's? Is this not true?

  24. Amps question: so brushless car, is it right that on 2s lipo it will draw more amps than on 3s lipo in a given  same setup?

    1. Show previous comments  1 more
    2. Jens

      Jens

From what I remember 40 years ago in physics at school. But correct me, if I am wrong. A motor doesn't draw any amps. Its consumption is measured in watts. Then together with its voltage supply the amps are calculated. Watts = VA. --> Watts = Volts x Amps. Then I would say a motor takes what it can get up to its max wattage limit, limited only by the ESC. (Cracking my brain now)...  Sorry, I give up. It's too long ago...

    3. Tug

      Tug

No. On 3S there's more Voltage available, so more Watts will be consumed, so more Amps are needed to supply those Watts.

    4. Jens

      Jens

Doesn't higher Voltage alone already increase the Watts? The Formula "Watt = Volts x Ampere" clearly still holds. Just double checked that. So when the Volts increase, the Watts will increase with the same Amps.

  25. quick ESC question....surpass 60amp rated 2-3S, will it smoke if i put 4s through it on 1/10 touring speed car with 3300kv 3660 motor?

    1. Show previous comments  11 more
    2. Lone-wolf

      Lone-wolf

Alex i did buy a 120amp esc but it does not fit, i could dremell the side out of the chassis, but that would make it very weak, this is my first go at speed runs and at some point i will adopt a better chassis

    3. Alex97

      Alex97

Stick it on the top desk?

Edit - I just had a look and from the pictues it would seem there's plenty of room to go up. It could hang over one side if the battery was getting in the way. There's always a solution.

    4. Lone-wolf

      Lone-wolf

ESC is to big to go on top deck, just been and tried, the strada project is not worth spending silly money on getting a 120amp hobbywing, thanks for input and not being rude this was just a simple 3s or risk 4s question and thanks to all for the input
