ARRMA Outcast 8s BLX 4WD

Overview

Driven by 8S brushless power and an ARRMA®-tough design, the OUTCAST 8S BLX 4WD delivers the torque, acceleration and speed you need for extreme action in 1/5 scale. This ready-to-run stunt truck comes equipped to defy gravity right out of the box. From the heavy-duty front bumper to the wheelie bar in back, it's engineered to do it all: long, tall wheelies; tight, fast donuts; standing and aerial backflips; high leaps into the air; and more — over all terrain, in all conditions.

Just add your choice of batteries and charger and go. The OUTCAST 1/5 8S BLX 4WD includes a Spektrum DX3 Smart transmitter and SRS6110AT AVC® (Active Vehicle Control®) receiver that take full advantage of the Spektrum Smart Firma brushless motor and ESC's innovative telemetry capabilities. Download the free Spektrum Dashboard App to your mobile device and follow motor RPM, ESC temperature, receiver voltage, drive pack voltage and more data in real-time. Dial-in extra stability with the radio's AVC® system to carve corners and nail jumps without letting up on the throttle.

Bigger than big and engineered for brute power and toughness, the ARRMA® 1/5 scale OUTCAST 8S BLX 4WD Stunt Truck features a metal-reinforced design that lets you blast up, over and through bruising obstacles. Metal shafts, turnbuckles and outdrives, plus all-metal internal gears, give the drivetrain and suspension system unstoppable strength. Even the included Spektrum S905 digital servo boasts the strength of metal gears.

The extra-rigid, laser-etched, anodized aluminum chassis plate has a multi-structured center brace system, rear lower chassis brace and strong composite chassis side pods for the durability to support extreme stunts. Extra-thick molded composite front and rear shock towers hold massive 20mm bore, oil-filled adjustable shocks to soak-up bumps and jolts.

ARRMA® keeps your maintenance time to the minimum with an efficient, driver-friendly design. A sliding, 3-bolt aluminum mount provides fast motor access. The vehicle's front, rear and center modules and waterproof electronics module are also engineered for quick and easy access, removal and maintenance.

The ultra-tough OUTCAST 1/5 8S truck body arrives factory trimmed, painted and decaled. A center protection tower on the chassis interfaces with the roll cage for increased body durability. Its tough stunt truck wheels come outfitted with metal 24mm hex inserts and multi-terrain dBoots® BACKFLIP tires that provide all the traction you'll need to flip, grip, wheelie and spin. A high downforce wing helps keep the vehicle grounded — and a wheelie bar is there for when only 90 degree wheelies will do!

My question is this was it fully tested prior to release as it’s clear the 8s Kraton wasn’t and have they addressed the flaws from the 8s kraton or just carried them over ?

Not really that X Maxx killer everyone was hoping for just another flat pan chassis revamp

Does look pretty cool.... Let's wait for the arrma community to tear it to pieces all day on fb first... Before anything else... 🤣🤣

Priced around £950 in the shops...

why will the arrma lot want to rip it to bits, looks a superb rig, i would buy one tomorrow but im about £800 short for the price

.. sigh. Looks way more interesting than the Kraton, not gonna lie. Standing backflips with a 1/5th could be interesting.

My DBXL-E is a little lonely.. Might need to cancel the EXB (which isn't that far off in price after electrics), lol.

Looks bloody gorgeous but that chassis doesn't fill me with much hope, maybe the shorter wheelbase of the outcast will mean less bendy bendy

Nah, it'll bend much like the Kraton, i'm pretty certain.

That said: it's £1000 (around there anyway) - it's not something i'd drive like i stole it anyway, personally. I leave the bending to people who get theirs from Arrma directly as review units, for free.

edit:

£930, wheelspin has it listed already.

Did we need another brushless 1/5th truck? And that chassis looks interesting with the pressed in sections, i guess that they are trying to maximize rigidity without upping material thickness. Hmm.

Maybe not so much for the UK market but they are a big hit in the USA.

Personally 1/5th is a bit too cumbersome for me and where I live but this looks awesome.

Well, being shorter than the Kraton, basic physics says that it will be more rigid (assuming its made from the same material, dimensions the same etc, and has same bracing, similar weight etc). How much more rigid / less bendy, well who knows?  I've no doubt those guys who get their rigs for free will manage to bend it (though some prob won't admit that through fear of being black listed by Arrma...), and likewise those who can afford to smash & repair a £1K truck.  But for most peeps buying with their own hard earned, and not being overly reckless, well I guess it will prob be an OK basher, assuming you have the space to hurl an 8S 1/5 truck around...

Biggest problem with a second 1/5th for me is that i'd need to include the price of a new shelf as well, my current "RC-Storage Unit" wouldn't be able to cope with another 1/5th lol.

Now that the first "MUST have this!!!" moment is over, i still kinda would like one, but seeing how everything is more difficult with the DBLXE, i'll probably sleep over it a day or twelve. Realistically, 1/5th is fun, but it's not really practical. It's also pretty small for a 1/5th - not necessarily a bad thing, but it's smaller than X-Maxx, it's considerably smaller than a DBXLE - it's smaller than an SBR even. Now, it's of course very subjective, but if i buy a 1/5th, i buy it for the size. If the 1/5th is smaller than most 1/6ths.. Kinda defeats the purpose for me personally.

my final comment, i think this looks like a stunning basher, but i can only look from a distance as i would not spend this kind of dosh on an rc plane (first hobby) let alone an rc car, sadly my pockets are just not deep enough to blow close on 1k for an rc of any kind, but there are a lot of people that can afford to drop this pot on a basher like this and good luck to them

Ever been on one of the arrma groups on fb...?

They're not backwards in coming forwards about things.... Usually the more experienced hobbyist part of the arrma crowd is more vocal.. As I suppose they have a higher level of expectation from a platform... based simply on a larger amount of experience of other platforms in general....

It's down to how vocal they where about issues that they developed the exb range... And models like this outcast 8s...

When I saw it I was like nice body, apart from that I guess you need to wait for the v1.5/2 in around Oct time ...

Having sold my Kraton 8S and enjoying the Xmaxx I cant shake the feeling this comes too late for me at least
