  1. Is that just a SWB Hoss? Or even just a Hoss with a better name? ๐Ÿค”
  2. Many peeps still running these little 1/16 trucks, or is it all MJX these days? Dusted mine off yesterday, couple of things to sort, then I'll start using it again outside the house. Really are tough old trucks these.
  3. Dropped Mrs Bertberr off in Exeter first thing then drove up the road to a lovely billiard smooth car park on an industrial estate, completely empty, and enjoyed half an hour with the drifter followed by 10 mins or so with the XK K110. Very windy, almost lost the little bird (the heli not Mrs Bertberr, I collected her later), but really enjoyed it, then back home to chores and DIY... ๐Ÿ˜’
  4. My heli journey is similar to much of the above, though influenced significantly by what I was lucky enough to be gifted by a generous and enthusiastic parent. I've only ever bought three heli's myself, an E119 FP and two XK 110 CP's. Started with the MCX co-ax, the yellow Mk1 version, remember those? Then MSR & 120 SR (never keen on the jerky flight characteristics of the little flybar equipped blades), then an MSRX - a very squirrely / tricky little bird, then my first XK 110, prob a bit much for my small indoor flying space at that stage in my heli learning curve. Then an E119, which whilst having a really rubbish transmitter, was a very stable and easy to fly little micro FP heli, great for practicing all the orientations. Then a 120S & 200 SRX joined the fleet, again gifted to me, and then more latterly, another XK K110, but the S version this time. In between these have come various quads including a La Trax Alias, a Blade 200 QX and a XK X251. What would I do differently if starting out again? Well, assuming I wasn't gifted anything this time, I'd scrub round all the FP stuff, and go straight for a little micro CP bird like the XK K110 or a Blade Nano. Both have full 6G stability modes and can also be dumbed down considerably when used with a decent computerised radio (DR, expo, Throttle Curve etc), making fairly early 3G / agility flying a realistic target. They can be flown, or at least hovered in most peoples front rooms, and can even be flown outside when there's little breeze. My job means I spend a fair amount of time in front of a screen, so I specifically didn't go down the SIM route, hence the little K110's, live SIM as I call it. Numerous lawn / carpet darts and almost no damage to speak of, well nothing expensive anyway. I try to practice most lunch times in our training room, and now no longer fly in 6G mode at all, and can fly the little K110 around my lounge without stability mode, doing basic circuits and figure 8's. I can't over emphasise the value of a small bendy 1S CP trainer if you intend to go all the way and just fly CP unaided or even progress on to mild 3D. My next chapter will probably involve selling some of the FP birds and either getting myself a 120-150 size CP like an OMP M1, Goosky S1 or Blade 150S, or just go for it and get a 380 size bird like a 450X, Align 470 or maybe even an OMP M4 kit. Who knows, but what I can say is the heli side of the hobby really is addictive, and a hell of a challenge for those of you like me that have left starting this journey rather late... Happy flying whatever you choose to do. My next
  5. That hit every branch on the way down...
  6. Nice! What do you think of the BBX?
  7. Blimey, it is quiet on here these days... Few years ago if something like this was announced we'd be on page 5 by now... I rather like it btw, and if I hadn't moved over almost exclusively to helis these days, I'd be tempted to give it a go. Always loved a nice SCT.
  8. My word... Gizmo & Elsa have got big very quickly! They look gorgeous. I must post some pics of our new rescue cats, sure Frank (avatar) won't mind...!!!
  9. Particularly interesting for me right now as I'm considering a 150S right now as my next bird. Like that it falls in between , size wise, of the M1 & M2, and that I guess I'd be fine using my old DX6i with it (without the telemetry). Keeps the costs down. Have also been thinking about the 230S or maybe a Goosky S2. Have really got back into the helis recently, in fact I haven't used any of the cars for some months now.
  10. Very cool! I'll take a looksy at that vid later. Always loved the look of the Holiday Buggy, particularly the original one.
  11. Very pretty heli you've got there. Really like the scale fuselages on these birds, though I guess you have to be a little more aware of temps on warmer days. Looks very much like a big XK K123, even down to the 3 blade head. Was that in 6G or 3G ?
  12. Dusted off the old MSR the other day for a little bit of nostalgic living room fun, and realised that the old girl was a little tired... Need blade grips (with hardware), blades, and possibly some other bits. WHY?
  13. 3 x little 1S 1000mah lipos, ยฃ4.26 each at a UK model shop, fair price I thought, I'll order those...ย  ยฃ6.50 postage... maybe not.

Maybe... guess I haven't bought any lipos for a few years now...

Unfortunately some smaller shops just offer a flat rate on everything and quite often it's massively overkill. Places profiteering from shipping always really annoyes me.ย

  14. What is the advanced flight mode on this? Is it just without stabilisation ie 3G or is it just higher rates?
  15. On the face of it seems fairly good value, but much really depends on condition inc. driveline / tranny parts, which obviously you can't see. Trophy buggies never seem to go for that strong money, nowhere near the value of a Vorza. And those 2S packs were prob run in series for 4S, so again what are they like? Slightly puffed and/or out of balance and they're pretty much worthless. Charger is OK for a budget item, but you can pick en up new for under 30 quid, so don't place too much value on it. Bottom line, if the buggy is mechanically spot on, with just cosmetic wear, the packs are good, then 160 ish is prob not a bad deal (check as above if 2.4ghz?), I mean what can you get new for that these days? And if paying PP then you do at least have some protection too.
  16. Evening msuk brethren, hope everybodyย  is happy and well.ย

  17. Hi can you let me know actual dimensions (not spurious HK listed size), and what plug does it have? thanks
  18. Out of interest, other than Currys are there any other UK based online stores you'd recommend for buying a tablet and other electronic / tech items?
  19. Thanks guys I'll look into those options ๐Ÿ‘
  20. Evening all, and HNY! I need to get an 8-10" tablet, mainly for my lad to play his brawlstars on as playing it on his little Google Pixel 3 can't be doing his eyes any good! But would also be used by myself and Mrs Bertberr for basic web browsing, YT vids etc. We want something in the 8-10" range, but don't want to pay too much i.e. no apple ipads etc. Realistic budget of 200 quid or thereabouts. Been looking at things like the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 but worried it may not be quite fast enough for gaming, and quite poss slower refresh rate etc than his current Pixel 3. So, what should I be looking at? Any non mainstream makes / models that I should be aware of? Thanks ๐Ÿ‘
  21. That's a very generous and thoughtful gesture, thank you, but I'm not going to leave someone else out of pocket just because I'm dithering over what to do. Thanks anyway, we have some really great members on here. ๐Ÿ‘
  22. It's never in the house, lives in my charging bunker in the shed/garage when not in use. Suppose I was just interested to hear from anyone who has run a similar pack with / without issues. It's a really useful size / capacity, so am loathe to chuck it out unless I really need to, but yeah I hear you, I don't think there's a right or wrong answer right now, at least until it let's go! Then I'll know what I should have done. ๐Ÿ˜
  23. Interested in people's views on a puffed lipo. Have a 1600mah 2S that i use in a couple of smaller trucks, balances really well (within 0.01v) and has low internal resistance. Good punch and decent run time. But it is puffy. Keep or sling? BTW, all my lipos are kept in the garage.
  24. Hmmm, I gathered that, as its taken 2.5 yrs to get the first reply ๐Ÿ˜†
  25. Lovely! I know it well, used to walk there fairly regularly with my family when we lived down that neck of the woods(!) Had a mate in Boxgrove too, I do miss West Sussex, well actually I miss the Downs, but I'm sure you know what I mean!
