  1. Yes, I've some reviews on them, mostly positive, makes a little more surprised that they're not more popular on here. Good point re the spares, I've got a few (mainly mini's) that are borderline shelf queens, well battered ones, as I simply can't get spares anymore, either at all or for sensible money.
  2. Probably won't get any responses the way things are on here right now, but if you don't ask etc etc... Always fancied getting an Omni Terminator, but usually baulked as its one of those not quite this but not quite that trucks in my eyes. Close to a (smaller) 1/10 in size, like MT10, Mav Q2 etc, but bigger than a traditional 1/16, both sizes I have already. Then I saw the little 1/16, 1/14 Rog1, which I like as an alternative take on my HBX 16890. Then they release this new 1/12 buggy, the X12S, which looks like a slightly scaled up Typhon Grom, not really 1/12 though, more 1/14 or 1/13? Quite tempted by either the Rog1 or the AM12S as a skate park / general outdoor small space rig. Anybody have any experience with either of these? Or the Omni or even Rlaarlo in general for that matter? Oh, and there's a mini 1/10 rally car too, which I also like the look of...
  3. Mog... love it! Used to read those books when I was a nipper!
  4. JPS Lotus... I believe you're right 😊
  5. Love Group C, I was fortunate enough to be taken to the 1988 Brands Hatch 1000km by my Dad. Silk Cut Jags, AEG Sauber C9 (became the Merc Silver Arrows), Blaupunkt Porsche 962s. Sadly there weren't as many Porsches as during previous events at Brands or even subsequent races like the 1989 event. But I can still hear that Sauber V8 and Jag V12 like it was yesterday. Good times. Just wish Tamiya would do a short tail 962c...
  6. Finally got round to pressing the button on the new Rlaarlo Rog1 from Ali, and the damn thing has gone up £30 in just a few days...!!! My own fault for not buying when I first looked, but being a stubborn old bar steward I'm now going to resist and see what happens after xmas. Hopefully they'll come down again, the crazy price spikes and dips are one of the things that frustrate me most with Ali.

Yeah I'm in no rush, got plenty of other toys to keep me entertained. Prob a blessing in disguise...

  7. I don't doubt it does a reasonable job, but I like to run most of my rigs on my GT3C, to do this with the Vorteks I need to put an esc in as well. And even if I didn't change anything out, if the esc or rx side of the 2in1 goes out, I'm effectively replacing 2 parts as opposed to one. And I doubt a new 2in1 is going to be cheaper than a stand alone arrma 3s esc or rx? I understand it on minis and micros and general budget RC's, where space is at a premium and margins often very thin. I have one on my little HBX 1/16, and it works well in that car, but on hobby grade 1/10 I just think its a bit of a cop out.
  8. 2in1 esc/rx would kill it for me. no place for that on a so called hobby grade rig at circa 350 quid IMO. but no doubt it will sell like hot cakes because its an Arrma...😉
  9. I've given up using FB, never used reddit or IG either. Used to find stuff just got lost in the ether, very difficult to keep track of a particular issue/subject and much of it was utter nonsense anyway. At least here you can keep up with things easier, and its just simpler / more enjoyable to spend a few mins checking out the latest threads / keeping up with the latest news etc.
  10. Don't think anybodies moaning, just stating a fact - it is quiet on here, even for this time of year. Sure it will pick up again soon 🤞👍
  11. @Kpowell911 on here used some different springs on his Maxx, think from memory they were VG Racing, but check the Maxx thread, he mentions them in there.
  12. No seals in diffs, just some grease in there from stock. I've put some stickier grease in mine, but lack of centre diff or slipper means you're always going to get fairly major plough on understeer. Nature of the beast, you get used to it!!! Handling prowess isn't its forte, being near enough bomb proof is... On a side note, has anybody ripped out the stock 2in1 and gone from 2S to 3S? Thoughts? Worth doing? I'd like a bit more air control at the skate park, so tried some bigger wheels/tyres, but whilst the in-air control was defo better, the woeful handling got even worse, so I put the OG tyres back on. Thinking I may get the added centrifugal forces I need going 3S on the standard wheels.
  13. Obviously you'd need a hobby grade charger too if you went the new route, but if you plan on staying in the hobby then that's a must anyway. They pop up used on here from time to time for 20-30 quid (for a basic 50w one).
  14. The car price difference is only 20 quid (280 vs 300), and the standard battery that comes with the brushed is only a 3300mah, so won't get much run time out of that before you and your lad have to trudge home to wait the 15 hours before the battery charges back up again on your rtr charger... You can get a 5200mah Zee hardcase 2S lipo for a little over 20 quid from amazon, so for 40/45 more you have a much better car and a much longer lasting / better battery. Obviously if the used one checks out then that's a bigger saving, don't use FB now so I can't comment. Good luck.
  15. If the brushed was actually readily available in the UK, and the brushed/brushless price difference was greater, as it is/was in the States (they were blowing the brushed version out at Tower for some crazy low price, 179 usd springs to mind - £140!!!), then I'd defo go brushed and pop my own 3S system in. As it is right now here in crazy old UK, for 20/30 quid I'd just pony up for the Brushless.
  16. Seeing some of the absurd prices people are asking for (well) used examples, I'd be inclined to just bite the bullet and buy new, seen them for under £300. Lot less stressful and removes the risk of buying a lemon.
  17. Still mulling over this, though I have to say the circa 140 quid to the door price starts to appear very good value against the impending mini (mini?) maxx. I appreciate the micro maxx will prob be tougher than the Rog1, and whilst I do use my mini rigs at the skatepark, I don't go out with the intention of destroying them. So, although prob better (certainly better resale if that bothers you), is the new Traxxas likely to be twice as good as the Rog1??? Size wise, the Rog1 is closer to the micro maxx than the Omni Terminator, its also classed as 1/14, coming in around 32.5cm vs 34.5 for the Traxxas. So pretty much bang in the middle of the Grom and the micro Maxx. Just waiting to hear whether radiocontrolled.co.uk will be stocking it... and how much more I'll pay over ordering it direct.
  18. Hmmm...not many moons ago on here I'd have had half a dozen 'opinions' by now... things really are quiet 😟
  19. As title, just interested if anybody has taken the plunge yet? Quite tempted to get one for xmas, can get one to my door for around 130-135 quid. I know some people have had issues with broken CVD's / dogbones, but others have been fine.
  20. What speed meter did you get? Is there a sender unit in the car that transmits to the app?

  22. I have both, but then I've only bought a couple of trucks new, most being used models. I have no preference one way or the other, so long as parts are likely to be readily available for a good while. My little HBX which came from BG is prob my toughest truck in the fleet, so cheapness doesn't necessarily translate to weakness/poor quality.
