VERY NICE JOB MATE!!

'MM' did an amazing job in Monster Jam the other year - beat itself up, but not before cleaning up the Freestyle!

You do realise you'll have to drive like a nutter and trash it once a week for a year? !!

Replaced the ESC / motor connector (deans now) on Evoque and added longer wires to motor.  Mounted ESC / RX at front which has improved weight balance.  Re-wired and mounted ESC switch on tuber project. Took both to woods for a test.  Daughter drove Evoque into all the trees available and a group of toddlers chased the tuber around until I led them back to parents.

Tuber needs a touch more wheel speed so will look for a 55T to replace the 70T.  It also needs stripping down, cleaning and painting.  The wheels are far too big and the open diff at front limits climbing ability but think I'll leave as is just to be different.

Evoque survived but double sided tape failed on ESC and RX.  Lost FWD too: grub screw on drive shaft extension needs Loctite.  Rear suspension is a bit high and a bit bouncey so needs a tweak.  Lights need wiring including replacing the front set which I blew.  Happy with speed and torque and grip were fine for trailing / a 6 year old.

Bad phone camera footage of Evoque the one time it didn't hit anything:

Finished the paint scheme on the Panther G. Quite pleased with how it turned out. Next step I am going to white wash it and hopefully it turns out like it's seen hell in war! Also notice the Gi Joe figure sitting on the manlet [emoji23]

Looks very smart mate, top job on the painting, and I hope Joe is glued on to stay, can't beat a dash of humour on a scaler :P

Made some padded skid plates for the axxe. I had some 5 mm foam sheet & .5 mm alu sheet in the drawer.    The motor protector was wearing really quick due to super soft plastic.   Looks good & should do the trick on the beach this weekend :)

Dropped the metal gears into the Amp. Diff felt dry, was actually packed with grease so spread it around a little. Only two planetary gears, however fit is good.

Noticed some wear on one part of the spur, further investigation suggests this is down to flex in the motor plate. As this is moulded into one side of the box, there isn't an immediate solution to firm it with an ally plate, so the Amp remains brushed for now.....the weight and torque of my chosen bl can would, I fear, cause issue....

Tried starting the Mini Inferno again after taking advice of putting some light oil down the carb to try and get some seal on the bearing, still runs like crap and cuts out randomly. Said screw it and made an offer on an eBay engine, messages the seller beforehand and apparently his engine doesn't have the back and fourth movement in the crankshaft like mine does which I am thinking could be the problem here so we'll see.

Replaced ALU struts with c.fibre tubes.

Was more of a p*** take than it sounds, as usual.

had to make some custom inserts for one end, and some tube brackets/fixings to affix tube struts at other end.

Whole thing was made from stuff lying around.

- c.fibre tubes, from an old umbrella!!!

- inserts made from modified thunder tiger wheel stays.

- black nylon 'over tube' fixings made from thed 3 way tube connectors off an old child's canvas wardrobe, chopped etc

These replaced the old original ALU struts, that will now form the rear section of cage , having been bent into shape ( work in progress)!

After receiving the 'Race Packs' for the X-Maxx - 4S 5Ah 90C continuous 'Graphene' on offer, I received them as anticipated, on Friday.

Space is very limited, and the cables are 'plug in'.

X-4S%20Battery%20-%20RHS%20-%2020161028-

They JUST fit, but I wouldn't be able to plug in the balance leads - only needed for charging - I hope.

Turned over, I can protect the sockets and keep the main outlets exposed.

I'm not a Forum specialist at soldering, but not too shabby ... but ... it just wasn't happening!!

Fortunately I had (quite) a few spare 8 mm bullets, so I thought I'd sleep on it - it's a Silverline 100W soldering iron and the element was glowing (too?) nicely - this was last night.

Seemed to melt the Pb free Ag solder, but not that well, so called it a night ...

Thought I'd change the soldering iron tip - then found the one in it was too short!! That's why the element was glowing so much, wasn't transferring the heat into the tip.

NIGHT and DAY change - soldering done. All seems solid. Gave all joints several good tugs and no sudden movements ...

Here's hoping.

I'll finish off tomorrow, cover with heatshrink, etc., then have a go at charging and, erm, try them out!!

Probably back-flip the X-Maxx if they're as good as they say!!
