Thanks mate, it started life as a type of Ifor Williams looking but decided to go on and on, its a bit rough round the edges but that doesnt matter too much, its used as a display piece now. lmao, bacon and butties were cheaper back then again, fantastic workmanship and a cracking end result!! If mine turns out half a good, I’ll be happy. Cheers mate Yes it did mate, it won “best of show” at the 2018 Recon G6, i did manage to get it signed by the legend that is Mr. Brian Parker, i can’t remember if i got a pic, ill have to have a look.2 points

Some say that one is never enough. I'm contemplating turning the TL01m into a lancia stratos. With the low bonnet of the body the TL01m would be ideal.1 point

Definitely not brand new! A few of my parts date pre 1920...... most from the 1950/60s. Look on line for Meccanoman, a great source of spares..... some reproduction is also available.1 point

This is a nice little model and given a few little mods like oil dampers and some wheel weight should perform well but for me I would of preferred it to be a licenced 425 rather than the 4211 point

The M chassis family is growing, although the M07 was returned as I only planned to do the odd bit of club racing the M05 will fill that void however I felt that an M01 was needed. When I saw a tidy roller crop up on Facebook MP for £30 it was worth a punt, hopefully it should arrive before Christmas.1 point

Interesting question and I believe they do recognise their keeper. There's a YouTube channel I watch and the guy has a few big Reticulated Pythons that he'll often take out into his yard when the weather is nice for a bit enrichment. One day he had one of his Retics out and one of his neighbours walked across the yard and his Retics seeing someone/something unfamiliar turned around and climbed up onto him as it knew it's keeper was a safe person/object/thing. This was a 12-16ft snake that saw something or someone it didn't feel comfortable with and instantly went to it's keeper to feel safe. With my own snakes I've experienced something similar in fact that if I try and give them to my mum or brother to hold they're reluctant to climb onto them and often want to come back to me as they're something new and different that they're not comfortable with. Obviously with enough time and effort they will eventually feel more comfortable with new people but because their keeper is always working with them they know that they can trust them a lot more.1 point

Apart from forgetting to glue the tyres, I'm calling that done. Lad was happy when I gave the trailer to him earlier. (didn't wait until Christmas because the 'elves' would get all the credit 🤨). The small holes around the top edge are for clipping bungee straps into. Failed in my mission to make this without having to buy anything, £3.60 for some 3.6mm plyboard...1 point

I'm a bit further on now at least. Just need to sort out the wood sides and tidy up a few bits. Tried doing the tow hitch a different way to how I used to do them, wanted a lot more angles etc. Thought about a driveshaft joint but realised that I can get more angle from using an old portal drive. My drills wouldn't touch the hardened steel shaft so had to heat it til glowing, allow to cool, then the drill bit could cut. Still in mock up but you get the idea. I did forget that it also needs to be able to swivel, for when the truck leans at a different angle than the trailer. Solved it by cutting two grooves round the gear and fitting four screws into the grooves to keep it in place. I forgot to take a photo of what I did. Anyway this is how it works. @Gaz! £1.50 for a bacon butty sounds very fair. Nice looking trailer there, looks very realistic 👍1 point

Thank you The M04s are very rare now and maintain a good 2nd hand value. M04 replacement chassis parts are like hens teeth to find as they were discontinued before the M03s. Pretty much all of the M03/5 upgrades will carry across.1 point

It is a new release so may not be available in UK just yet. Modelsport (and others) should have it as soon as it is available as they stock the other FCX24 models.1 point
