  1. Welcome to the start of my Hyper ST Pro kit and brushless build This build is a bit of a nostalgic labour of love πŸ™‚ Nearly all of my RC gear got stolen a few years ago (which included my Hyper ST, KM Baja, Tamiya Blackfoot, and a few other RC's, tools, electrics, etc etc) I wanted to get into the hobby again and really wanted a kit to build. The Hyper ST is an old design now but its a solid platform to work on and the truggy is an absolute tank I'll begin the build tomorrow evening starting with the diffs πŸ™‚

  2. Basically an ftx outback chassis and axles, axial bomber body, longer shocks in modified mounts, bigger tyres, charisma arc 1 esc, goes well on the garden course, will see how it performs on the local club course tomorrow

  5. Painted the mini shell, this is th first time I've done free hand masking and it turned out ok. I couldn't decide on just one colour so I'm going with three, red, British racing green, and metallic blue. Blue will be my M03 shelfer as that's what was on the box, red will be little 4wd rally car but I'm not sure on the chasiss I'm going to use yet and Green will be my everyday one that I might actually use!

  7. Painted the stampede body was going to do it the original colour that @Kpowell911 had the original body or bright red but as I had a spare tin of ps18 thought I’d remember my trx4 body shell that’s swimming with the fish’s 🀣

  9. So decided to see how fast the TT02R was. Set up is a 1060 ESC, Superstock RZ motor (23t) and a 2S Lipo. Im running a 22t Pinion. Im also on Rally Blocks which arent ideal. Because Lancia Delta Obviously I done the speed run on a smooth car park, not the above gravel...... I also removed the wing because it broke after one roll over. End result was 25mph I then spent the next 25 mins hooning about in the gravel and even getting some air time. Motor wasnt too hot after this so Im going to gear up quite a lot (27t) and go again. Then it may be brushless time πŸ™‚ Really enjoyed that peaceful little hoon. Even if I forgot it was half term and the kids were off.....

  13. So since I bought my newest drone I thought I would give this a go today, I set the drone up to do its own thing and began, for a complete novice at this kinda stuff I am well pleased with the result, I haven't attempted editing videos yet 2023_06_11_14_59_50.mp4

  15. I am running 2 21T motors and stock pinion configuration (steel 32DP 13 teeth). The ESC in the kit now is a genuine HobbyWing 880 but pre-programmed (RTR). Indeed the ESC datasheet says motor limit is 24T if using dual motor (the stock silvercan is 27T). But I have read that people are using two 15T HPI firebolt without any problems. I have run my two 21T motors for two weeks and almost 10 full charges (2S Lipo) and everything seems fine. No cutoff, no overheating etc. I also checked the motor temperature regularly and they are mildly hot even doing wheelie or full throttle. What I feel now is this ESC leaves a lot of "reserved" capability. On the other hand, 880 can handle 80A constant current and 400A burst. This is from what I know pretty high for two brushed motor around 20T. To compare, Tamiya sport tuned (23T or 27T with advanced timing) draws around 13A during normal usage. To go "over the limit" or not has to be decided by you as after all it is not within what the datasheet says. Here is the link of the 21T motor (Β£16) I got from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09NTZPM2L?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details. A lot of other brands use this motor with their own stickers/paints but with a higher price tag. It has an open endbell and ball bearing and comes with 0 timing. I am not sure whether its timing can be changed as the slot showing the timing mark has a plastic notch that prevents it from being rotated. Also I dont know whether the screw holding the end can be slided to rotate the endbell. I have seen some cheap motors that look like the endbell can be rotated but inside there are only two fixed screw hole...

  17. You should see about getting some wee floats and and a life boat or two for this one. Or a wooden door even, for that Hill Billy/Titanic look - 2 if you want to save Leo as well as Kate.

  18. found the combo i linked to a bit cheaper here https://www.kingslynnmodelshop.co.uk/spektrum-dx5-rugged-5ch-dsmr-tx-wsr515/

  19. Im pretty sure the receiver in that combo doesnt have the gyro feature so you would have to look at another receiver theres also this 1 bit cheaper but you would still need a gyro rx https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/spektrum-dx5-rugged-dsmr-tx-with-sr515-receiver-437375 found this rx https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/spektrum-6200a-6ch-avc-surface-rx-1333081 whatever Spektrum receiver you get make sure its DSMR as they do air receivers (DSMX) as well and they arnt compatable

  22. Unusual glitch. Do you have other radio gear you could install to then try and replicate the glitch? If steering was affected as well as throttle, it definitely sounds like a radio issue. Traxxas radio's are usually pretty reliable.

  24. Broke it somehow. No jumps or big crashes so not sure if this is a weak spot of the DR8? I broke the front 2 shocks last year but that was driving full pelt down a hole in a field I didn't spot so wasn't surprised about that occasion. Thankfully I had already run 1 x pack and was nearly through the 2nd when I noticed the handling was odd and saw this so not a total bust.

  25. I might have ruined this truck bodyπŸ˜… Other changes recently: 1. 21T brushed motor (0 timing) 2. Steel pinion gear 3. Replace Tamiya connector with XT60 and start to use 2S Lipo 4. Rear tyres are glued as Lipo power makes the rim slip... I used silicone seal and its perfect. 5. Waiting for the gearbox guard to arrive 6. Removed the super clodbuster decal and ordered some from Amazon. TBH its worse than I thoughtπŸ€ͺ

  26. Remove the servo arm, if the steering then swings free, the servo is borked. Probably.

  29. Injora parts arrived - had some fun replacing parts. I feel like watch maker while working on 1/18 model πŸ™‚ Wheels are too big (62x20,5mm) - ordered closer to stock (56x22mm). And since we had a "car" crash - didn't see my sons Bronco and ran over it with my Xmaxx.... Had to order new body πŸ™‚

  34. Finished the wiring, made and added window nets to hide the mess and added some fake exhausts. Filled front diff with some 10k (yes it has an open dif from an EXO .. this thing is weird). Then bashed it around garden and got it all covered in dust. Pretty happy now it's done, need to take it on some trails when not full of cold.
