Doh.. Totally forgot to say that no, I've still not decided on which reciever box to getΒ πŸ™„

Maybe the traxxas one if it fits nicely on top of the servo or the centre diff

  2. Its been a little while since my last update so thought I'd pop back here and upload some progress pics. This build is very much a slow burn and it'll take as long as it takes, which I'm fine with πŸ™‚ I've recently bought a few more essential bits.. I always wanted a Spektrum transmitter and really liked the look of this one. The one handed control option, impact protection, and water resistance definitely made me want this. I needed a charger as well I think this one is pretty decent? Got myself some batteries from Amazon as well. Hopefully they're not too terrible.. They came with Deans connectors which I don't think is ideal, especially as the esc is fitted with xt90 connectors. I've bought some bits that need soldering up Its been a few years since I've done any soldering and yessss I know that I could have purchased pre-made connectors which would've been cheaper and easier but I wanted to do it this way lol I'll be doing a bit of practice soldering first but that'll happen once I've decided what solder to buy/use I've got a couple of other bits and have done a little bit more on the truggy too but I'll post those up this evening if I get the chance. Its getting there slowly πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Cheers πŸ™‚
  3. Just been reading through this thread as I need a soldering iron/Station as I can't find my old one (I have a feeling that I may have given it away years ago..) Bookmarking this solder for later on πŸ™‚ https://www.flyingtech.co.uk/accessories/tbs-multicore-6337-rosin-core-solder-wire-real-100g-05mm just need to find a half decent soldering station now
  4. Wowsers! Thats a great meccano set! I didn't know stuff like that existed, is it brand new? Definitely following this thread πŸ™‚
  5. All I need to finish my ST Pro brushless build is...

A decent lipo charger, lipo batteries, mod1 pinion, transmitter and reciever, straps to hold the batteries in place.. what else.. possibly a new bodyshell?..Β

    Expensive stuff!

      Good shout, I'll have a look πŸ™‚

  6. I went for a losi 8ight battery tray I did get another tray to use just in case I didn't get on with the losi tray. The other one came from a Hyper Ss/sst/vs2 It worked okay with the losi one though πŸ™‚
  7. Not sure if I've mentioned this but I'm basing my build on an old forum members build Its quite helpful when it comes to the battery tray πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
  8. Build update Its been awhile since I last updated the build so thought I'd give it a little update this evening πŸ™‚ When I was preparing to drill out some holes in the chassis for the battery tray and the motor mount I realised both diffs were leaking I stripped back the diffs from their housings and sorted them out - I'm pretty sure I'd already done this once before.. maybe twice before.. In between sorting the diffs out and drilling out the chassis I also picked up some big bore shocks from ebay. I decided to give them a clean up as it was a great way of putting off drilling the chassis whilst still doing some valid rc stuff The shock oil definitely needed changing I used this for drilling the chassis Next time I do any drilling like this, I'm definitely buying a drill press. I had the dremel already (which I love) and saw that you could get the drill press accessory. Thought it was a cool idea at the time but it was mostly just annoying to use lol. I've drilled a little bit more since then and fitted the motor mount and battery tray I may drill one more hole to secure the battery tray but I'm still on the fence with that one..
  9. Stripped the rear diff completely, cleaned it all out and refilled it. Hopefully this time I've done it correctly. I'll see how it goes this evening - fingers crossed it doesn't drain out everywhere.. If I'm still having issues then I'll get some new rubber seals etc and try, try, try again.. I still haven't touched the leaking front diff yet...
  10. All the seals should be fine as its all from a brand new Pro kit that I'm building.
  11. Thanks for the replies guys, I'll open both the diffs up again and see if I can fill them up correctly this time πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
  12. Also, if the paper gasket seal feels drenched in silicon oil, is it still alright to give it a wipe down and then reuse it? Or would it be better to order some new ones? Cheers
  13. Both diffs are brand new and were put together by me so its definitely user error lol.. I put the rear diff up ended, screws side up before heading off to work this morning. Came back to find a little bead of oil on one of the screws. It must be over filled if the oil is being pushed upwards because gravity doesn't work like that does it? πŸ€”πŸ€¨πŸ€¨
  14. Heya everyone, hope you're all well πŸ™‚ I'm still very slowly building my Hyper ST Pro kit and noticed that the front and rear diffs are leaking. I only realised they were leaking because I was stripping everything off the chassis.. πŸ™„πŸ˜’ How much diff oil needs to go in to the diffs and how much is too much? Bit puzzled over this one as its been quite awhile since I did any diff building and filling.. Any advice as always is very appreciated Thanks πŸ™‚
  15. Good morning to any and all that are reading this πŸ™‚ its been a little while since I last updated this thread so thought I'd post some pics of where I'm up to I didn't want to cut the graphite (?) radiotray that comes with the pro kit sonI got the rtr version I cut it to the shape I wanted Then sprayed it black Did a quick mock up of what the servo and motor mount will look like once they're installed properly The servo is a savox 1256 and the motor mount is from a Hyper SS or Cage (I think) I've also made up the shocks but I think I'll be swapping them out for some nice big bore ones at a later date This evening I'll be going over what I've already built and putting threadlock where needed And lastly... My motor and esc have arrived πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Its all slowly getting there πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»
  16. Just about to buy this motor and esc combo for my Hyper ST build.

Are there any alternatives or is the one to go for?

In the end I went with the one I sent a link for.

I used Paypals pay-in-3 option (which is really handy)

After it's paid off I'll use paypal again for when I buy the radio gear, the charger, and the lipos πŸ™‚

      Vr5fx

Max8 and a castle 1717. Nice big pinion and it's solid on 5s, rocket on 6s

  17. I think you need some new tyres.....
  18. Tbh I'm not sure what brushless system I'll be using. The one I had years ago was 4282 leopard motor 2000kv and a Hobbywing 150a esc I'll start having a proper look around as all of sudden I seem to be a lot closer to needing one than I was like a week ago lol Budget wise I'm also not sure, PayPal's pay-in-three has made things a lot more /affordable manageable when it comes to better quality/more expensive items. It doesn't mean I'm going to spend a small fortune but it does mean that I probably will 🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣
  19. Those backflip tyres look nice I've never even heard of Applianceelectronics before, are they a reputable store?
  20. Got any pics of them fitted on to your hyper st?
  21. I'm currently building a Hyper ST kit and am thinking about getting different tyres for it as I'm not a fan of the stock ones If I wanted to get some Proline Badlands or a similar design, what size do I need to get? Pretty sure 3.8 are for MT's which will be way too big is it 2.8 I need or is that for 1/8 buggies? Advice appreciated Thanks
  22. Thank you 😁😁 I probably needed to do some real life stuff, getting ready for work tomorrow, washing up, washing clothes etc etc. I managed to quite successfully put it all off until now lol Go me πŸ€£πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€£
  23. Stuff I did today.... Firstly realised that I'd overfilled the diff I'm now going to get the front diff out to make sure that isn't overfilled either πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¬πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ Used a drill to help tap the threads for the turnbuckles That made life easier Then started work on the back end And finally, the centre diff and chassis braces There is one mod that I'm going to sort out as soon as I can I'll be ditching the e-clip and replacing it with a nut and bolt I'm really happy with what I've gotten done today πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
  24. I think the chassis is different and the front and rear shock towers are cnc pieces. Is there anything else you've noticed thats different?
