Not today exactly, this took a while, but made a drunk driver for the Enduro. There is real whiskey in that bottle π€ͺ Used a Tamiya holiday buggy driver figure as a base and modified it slightly. Probably too much time and effort for something that you can hardly see when the car is running but it kept me occupied for a few evenings.7 points

@wombat unless you don't mind, your Addy and name is there for the world to see... I've reported the post so a mod can edit it, and going to PM you to let you know, though if its intentional and I'm being a busy body, sorry!5 points

So I ordered some parts from Vitavon in China, the customs sticker on the outside of the box says itβs worth Β£280, very odd the order was only for around Β£180, I asked Vitavon whatβs going on they said they marked it down as $50 and showed me a copy of the paperwork. So how have customs decided itβs Β£280 worth? Now thereβs been a customs charge of Β£65 raised, but silly Royal Fail have delivered it before I paid it π€£π€£π€£4 points

Nah bud, each to their own. If you go down that route, you absolutely do need an ESS One sound module for the "la cucaracha" horn though.4 points

That's not quite what (rather, who) whistlindiesel is π3 points

You might be onto something here . . . I think you've just inspired me. I legit watch US power diesel challenges, definitely big stance is the way forward. Baby shark stickers arriving today for the doors, so this is gonna be a really odd build. On one hand it's to appease a 2 year old, and on the other hand it's to appease my humour to continue being a part of the fleet. I'm sure anyone who knows me knew me buying a crawler wouldn't end well, or with any sensible or logical outcome.3 points

Lolz, i guess i'll plug one of them whistles into the exhaust too, for sututu noises. Or what those people think a sututu sounds like (for clarification, those whistles sound like a chihuahua squeaky fart). In fact, on the topic of spinners - my wife is still after the spinning hub caps for the GTE (the emblem in the centre of the wheel not spinning when driving). Working hard to prevent that. π2 points

Not in a million years lol. The Golf doesn't even sound bad (in GTE mode), no idea why people are so opposed to the sound aktuator. It's of course "enhanced" sound, but i couldn't care less. I can appreciate a good engine sound (especially inline 5 and 6, as well as V8 and 10 - even four bangers), but i take the economy over "real sound" any day of the week π I actually am quite fond of electric sounds as well, the Taycan sounds amazing - and the new Hellcat, despite being kind of blasphemous, sounds pretty good too. You can even "rev" it, lol.2 points

A sound maker doo hickory was already on the cards. You need one of these for Golf:2 points

Are you trying to accuse me of ruining a perfectly good crawler? π³ I'm merely improving it and giving it function in terms of fashion. Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo doo.2 points

Hi, This is a project I'm doing since 2014, in several iterations,as my skills progressed . The build is so old that the initial build pics were lost when PhotoBucket and TinyPic went down. Basically, it is a full custom truck with my very first scratchbuilt cab! After some months, started to think in adding portal boxes to the axles(remember that there was a time before portals were mainstream...). First, machined a prototype in metal to approve the concept and realized that couldn't do all this parts without a CNC. I was aiming for the "casted steel" look and decided to 3D print. First prototype came like this: (Note: my first child was born the day after ...) Improved version on a scx10 axle with custom spherical ends to resemble the 1:1 but also because the portal boxes added 18mm to the width and these ends(and custom shafts) reduced 20mm Prototype of the rear ones: They looked great on SSD D60 housings1 point

Looking great bud, nice choice of colour too, need to get your angle and lighting right to let that metallic really shine through π Soon may Lord Milliken come, to bring us sugar and tea and rum, one day, when the tonguing is done, we'll take our leave and go.1 point

Thanks, I canβt find away to reset I donβt think these can be rest, it hasnβt got wet or anything, maybe time for a new setup me thinks π€1 point

Yeah I wonβt be chasing it up π Hereβs the customs declaration for reference, this has been stuck on top of the original shipper label, Iβve tried to peel it off to see whatβs underneath without any luck1 point
-
Iβm not really bothered about the charge in general, itβs the fact they have just made the amount up thatβs annoyed me1 point

@Stormbringer It is indeed. It's a big mix of various Norton / Vincent parts I believe.1 point

Why would you turn a decent looking crawler into a donk? Gonna squat it too? Might be a case for whistlindiesel coming up here. π€¨1 point

Always. I've got some slightly smaller ones so I'll print up a bracket for testing purposes.1 point

Not much of an update from todays racing. We started late because of the rain, managed one heat before the rain came back and everyone decided to call it a day. Unfortunately, I missed both of my heats because the return spring on the wheel on my transmitter snapped! So not much fun for me. Luckily, I've been working on fixing up a Schumacher SST99 Pro that I've had in a box since trying to make a working car out of that and an SST Axis and failing. I've had a few parts turn up yesterday so should be able to do some work on it tonight. I'll add photos when it's sorted.1 point

Hi, That is a superb Unimog! Congratulations on this excellent build! So much detail, even the old "MX" white on black number plates. It brought me back memories of my days in the Army in Oporto and Trafaria, where we had the older 411, 404 and 406 (not completely sure about this last one, it has been so long...). Great video too! π1 point

alot of arrma speedsters are aimed mainly onroad and light offroad gravel sammy id go down the 1/8th buggy route personally 6s esc motor combo gear it up for onroad then swop out to offroad buggy wheel tyres and should be sweet offroad and longer grass π with brushless power nowadays speed isnt really a problem most can do 50mph+ stock on 6s setups, then gear up1 point

Thanks for the recommendation of the FTX tracer. It was spot on in terms of what I was looking for and giving my son the chance to learn and get experience. Went with a brushed version from a local shop in Chesterfield close to my in laws whilst visiting them today. The best bit is Ethan loves it. This is his first drive. 20221022_160949.mp41 point

Picked up a new RC Heli today from midland helicopters in Leicestershire. Absolute faultless service from them, they answered all questions and steered me away from spending more money than I needed too. Walked out with an omp hobby M1 evolution Heli with some spare batteries and a radio. Bring on those cold winter nights, so I can hover around my living roomππ1 point
