  1. 15 years since the Slash came out, jheez 🫣. Do get the impression this is flogging the dead horse that is Short Course though, don't seem to be anywhere near as popular anymore.
  2. I've been running a Procat Classic for a bit! Tried some Xray shocks on it as apposed to the standard ones, but my spring rates are a bit off. I got the pro transmission kit with it, well worthwhile to not have to worry about breaking stuff with modern brushless. There's a couple of companies re-doing the period upgrades from what I've seen, Schumacher also are doing a lot of the carbon parts.
  3. I think the fact that there's generally a much larger spread of ability at even then biggest meets and high amounts of entry, everyone knows that realistically there's probably only 5-6 people capable of the top 3 steps unless something wild happens. Everyone usually puts in the same amount of time, the early start, the distant travelled etc. it's nice for more people to have something to show for it. I feel just as proud of my E final podium trophy at Regionals this year as I do trophies from Top 3 overall at club level championships
  4. Having said that, I may have managed to pick up an Atom 2 for a ridiculously good price a couple of days ago. Will see if it actually turns up before bragging too much, could well be a brick in a box! Going to tuck into those videos in a bit!
  5. I'm not sure what I'm doing compared to everyone else as chunking has generally not been a problem for me so far! Running the ball diff in mine, which is about as smooth as I can get it, could try loosening a little more. To be honest, it could be weight distribution related too as I've never checked that. Running 12k all the dampers currently, Black front springs, silver side and a green rear spring (no sure on the origin of this, heard people refer to a schumacher green spring but can't find any reference to it, but it's significantly harder than the nickel spring). Car is generally really nice/quick to drive, apart from the occasional time when it shoots off to the left under power. I'm not sure how quick it is in comparison to others as there's some quick guys who run LMPGT with us which really blows your mind how much more rear traction they have until you clock why 😂 Surprisingly, class options are plentiful near me. Norfolk/East Anglia in general is usually a bit of a hobby blackspot but i've got clubs racing on 3 nights midweek and a couple of weekend clubs covering Mod and stock TC, silvercan TC, GT12, LMP, Minis, Fronties, Indoor 1/10 buggies, outdoor 1/10 buggies, 1/8 buggies and trucks all within a 30 minute drive. Push that up to an hour and you've got 2 1/10 buggy regional astro tracks and some outdoor tc and probably more clubs I've missed out! Think some outdoor TC would be fun at some point, but would need a car I care very little about to be able to put myself through the destruction of running on tarmac!
  6. I've only done some once to get them 'square' again! Amazing how 'coned' they can get. There's so much more going on with these cars than say TC. Checking tweak, changing ride-height with inserts/shims through the night, additive timings, roll-out. Haven't quite got into cycling lipos yet, seems a bit of a dark art for minimal gain. I picked up my atom 1 for very cheap to 'give it a go' and am finding myself in that grey area of wanting to push on but reluctant to spend! The chassis is a bit battered, almost definitely has some permanent tweak and has lived a hard life before me. Seems to always want to track in a different direction depending on accelerating or braking and takes ages to compose itself after any contact. I race it on the typical tiny village hall track, so I think I get away with a lot of it's inadequacies by driving pretty clean. It's annoying the Atom 2 is holding it's value so well as it's a decent cost to get a significant upgrade. It's an enjoyable class but not sure if I'll stick with it much longer, plan was to get it as another class to run when racing TC on a Tuesday night, but I can't make that one now so GT12 is a dedicated night sandwiched between 2 nights of rugby training! Think I said it before, but I really enjoy checking in on this thread with someone going through their racing life. I find myself much more on RCTech nowadays to find racing content. Hopefully the updates with your BiL start flowing soon!
  7. I picked up an Atom 1 with the same upgrades recently too for a bit of extra racing. With the weather being so wet, I've not been outdoors for months. Do you tend to run the Contact Controls all the time? Everyone seems to be on T-foams where I've gone to but the controls seem to work really well and last ages too (4 meetings with minimal truing which is apparently unheard of otherwise!)
  8. I remember loving a visit to Kellers when it was in the big glass fronted building. Lost the magic when it moved into Castle Mall in my opinion. There was a short lived shop in Lowestoft that I got my first car from that was great too. Funny story, I now work on the business park built on top of the old Snetterton shop. There's remnants of the old track there, but nothing you could run on!
  9. Yeah I've never really been too impressed by it. I understand the whole risk of tying up money in stock being a risk to a small shop like that, but when you go in and anything you ask for "Can be ordered in", you're just gonna order it online yourself aren't you? A shame really, there used to be another one in Norwich which was ace and that one in Gorleston I mentioned was one you could get lost in for a while too. Suppose it's just impossible to keep up with the big dogs online.
  10. Nothing really worth going to! Used to be an alright one in Gorleston (about 5-10 minutes from where you are). I think the only one in the county worth going to is Model Hobby but that's Kings Lynn so you're talking an hour+ to get there.
  11. Was this from the bloke on Facebook selling all 4? I very nearly sent you the link if so 😂
  12. I run one of these in my touring car with 17.5t, awesome esc and the size makes it so easy to wire in!
  13. New project! Also had a couple of receivers, a servo and some bearings come through.
  14. Might have accidentally taken a page out of @Kpowell911's book and ordered a new RC after a few beers last night 😬😬

@Stormbringer got a ProCat Classic Re-re! Wanted something to run at the classic buggy meets and the occasional run out on the 4wd track up the buggy club!

@Gaz! Yeah, i've been umming and arring for a few weeks about getting one so not like it was a complete impulse buy! Read they're a bit of a 'fun' build so looking forward to that

  15. Thought I'd split into a second post to make it read a bit better. Today was the final round of the Winter Championship. There was about 12-13 rounds but only 5 of them were to count. I think I said before that I had no real chance if moving anywhere in 2wd or trucks but there were still some opportunities for other people. I mentioned changing roll centres on the TC on Saturday, and I did a bit of this on the XB2. Almost like this week was when I finally clocked how they worked and how they can be used! 😬 Weather was a bit all over the place during the day, wet morning but loads of wind dried the track out quickly, a bit of rain before the 4 heat meant basically 4 different tracks through the heats. Qualified in P2 but there was a faster driver behind so realistically P3 was the best outcome. Ran around in P3 for most of the race until the final corner on the penultimate lap where I put it in a barrier trying to take a 'safe line' down the straight which put me in P4. Finished the day there. Managed to finish P4 overall in the Championship which I'm happy with for my first year back! Was really surprised at the trophy ceremony at the end that due to the number of drivers who had entered 2wd, they'd bought trophies for more than just the top 3. Which means..... Not quite as good as @PraetoR's P1 the other week but I'm still happy! No idea where I ended up in Trucks. Slash was once again fun but slow. 7 cars started the day but only 3 of us made it to the final, and one pulled off during that so I ended up 2nd out of the 2 cars that finished the day! Had my own close call with a spur gear getting fully stripped. I think I done some damage to it in the second heat and it finally gave out in the 3rd. Luckily I bought a second spare last time that happened. A couple of Tuesdays ahead of me, and then I've got a triple header on Easter weekend when the girlfriend is on holiday with her family!
