Managed to spend a few child free hours putting some of the TB05 back together this evening.

Finished the RS4 sport with Alfa body, need to sort front foam bumper as it spoils the looks

More bits have been put into the TB05; just need an ESC, RX and body now. Also tried out the other new wheels but don’t think I can pick a favourite without the body.

The second type of tyre is a pretty good allrounder in my experience.

I couldnt get the smoke to go back in 😇 Still I reckon about 3 hours a week use for 6 months of relentless abuse and submerging  isn’t  bad - wether its bearing siezed, brushes worn to nowt or just cooked will be interesting to find out! 30p an hour running costs for the accountants, its the first failure too!

It’s on the naughty shelf now, the shelf with new TRX4 parts (motor and bearings) but it was happily running free when I last rinsed and lubed it Monday. I kind of expected/anticipated it would happen eventually being a ham fisted big kid 😉

 

I’m half way through remodelling my garage/workshop so tear down will be next week, presently I’m trying to unseize my rivnut tool so I can fit some mesh baskets to a double skinned metal locker door. It may be 2 breakages before the sun goes down 😂

fitted all new bearings to the sandviper as its brushless now and the car is over 12 year old lmao

 

also fitted a new 21.8kg etronix servo and replaced some parts on the front and shimmed some to eliminate a lot of slack on the front wheels and regreased every thing in the gear box, oh and new drive shafts.

i think it needs new drive cups lol, i put in some fuel tubing so the drive shaft can avoid the worst parts of the cups lmao

 

 

lunchie all ready for action, replace some more broken body posts with tie rod ends so now it has 4 of them and i screw on the shell, elminated massive slack on the steering as the screw i had in the alloy servo saver was a little to long and i put in a tamiya torque tuned motor to upgrade the stock motor it had in it a wee tad 🙂

Filled the inside with mud even though I thought a couple of days without rain might actually dry things up a bit!

First run with the Quantum RX went great! Needs a couple of tweaks but overall  I’m really pleased with it👍
Ran two 3s packs back to back without a problem.

Need to do some cleaning now 😁

Just me been picky really mate but i reckon with some geometry changes and a bit of diff oil it’ll be even better .

Made a shorty lipo holder for my Xray T1. 3D printed by a colleague at work and then a couple of PCB stand offs, thumbscrews and a strip of aluminium that happened to be the perfect size finished it off really nicely

I stuck the Vauxhall shell on because the old git was a diehard Vauxhall fan.

 

I probably should have put matching wheels on but it was cold and they were the closest to hand!

The left shell was painted and stripped, the right is virgin (although quite dirty).

'took the ;sand viper out for a test run

 

 

after bringing it back in i rearranged the position of the steering servo and im thinking of gearing it up, it had a 17 turn graupner purple tiger brushed motor in it before and it used to get super hot but the hobbywing max ten 4000kv system on same gears is luke warm, needs more gearing plus the ground was wet so very hard to get the power down 🙂

i also misheard dad asking is it faster as go faster lol

 

edit: i wonder if i should shim the diff gears a bit?  it is a noisy car and has been getting more noisy over time and my dto3 is almost silent compared to it which has the same gearbox.

 

the dt02 sand viper is over 12 year old as are the metal gears in its diff lol

Quite fancy a sand viper, was looking at it last night on fusion hobbies site. Think it's the best looking 'modern' tamiya buggy, and I prefer dt02 platform to dt03.
