Got other body shell in the post today ,and slipped the basher TT01 chassis under it, only to taken out for the shell to be sand blast at work tomorrow,

Took the wheel weights off the SCXY24, they were rubbing on the brass knuckles

Decided to finally fit the steel gears to the diffs on my Mauler. Opened up the rear diff expecting to find the stock plastic items to be bone dry only to discover they were already steel and lubed from the factory. When did this start happening? A lot of what you read on Maulers are complaints about the diffs stripping 🤷‍♂️

I think it’s the plastic part of the diff that strips and gets upgraded to these? https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/ftx-mauler-aluminium-38t-422681

That would make sense , its the only plastic part i could see in there. Who would have thought i'd get it wrong again 😂

Left the house for the 1st time in a week (I caught covid having my work medical 🤬I digress!) and needed to let off a bit of steam, I think I spent longer catching my breath than playing! At least the recent weather has softened the ground up.

 

 

Spent a good 5 minutes trying to be a jetski, until I got a little bit too cocky 🤣

 

 

Still one large stick later i got it out - I had full control, expect for the fact it wasn’t touching the bottom - a big stick prod onto the bottom of the pool and it backed right out. To celebrate how clean it now was, I then went tearing through a wet field 🤠

Took it to the woods.  Got about 10 minutes out of the first battery when it suddenly stopped.  Powered it back on and it seemed fine with nothing too hot before it did the same.  Went to unplug the battery to find the deans to traxxas adapter but I assume the are melted together as they arent budging!

 

Bought some XT90 connectors ages back so guess this is the push to actually swap them.

The mother-in-law came over today and brought with her a party pack of FG shells - some with their original protective film.

 

 

She didn't bring any of the buggy shells though and those are the one's I've finished!

 

I don't know what's doing with the F150 at the front mind you...

Dude...that Beetle looks mega!  Quite incredible what a colour change can do to a rig, looks so much better in my eyes than the stock yellow.  Love the union jack too.

Started working out my fastest crawler build. Ditched the gearbox, direct dive into the transmission retaining 4wd.

 

Ditched the towers, some small spring shocks wanting it to just sit off the diffs.

 

Mocked up the drive line, aiming for all changes to be reversable, no extra holes, uses existing mounting points, element servo plate with a tamiya motor mount bolted to an offcut, no expense to spare.  

 

Aiming for 35mph first, run if it goes well, have to see how it does at ROSSA.

Did more bending and screwing. Wasn’t happy with how my homemade rock sliders were turning out, so added this extra bit. Still not finished but happier with how they look now.

Indeed, all the builds rocked, i dont have a vanquish so its a banggood special for me 😛, got the steering sorted, shock's mounted and a couple of test passes. Its so bouncy

24mph needs faster sensored motor for sure.

Yeah, I was fiddling with the bias - think I've got the front balanced but was considering back to front. Being 4WD belt driven then there's no slip, therefore it should be 50:50 as what brakes the front brakes the back equally and vice-versa.

 

Or am I wrong, hideously, hideously wrong?

 

Another annoyance was that I sprung £12 for a new fibre disc the other day. Opened up a random box of "odds and sods"... Half a dozen of the buggers looking up and laughing at me.🤔
