Popular Post chewbacca
Yesterday I stripped and rebuilt the gearbox and steering knuckles on "Matilda" my partner's Mauler. I don't know who did the mods on it but they need a slap with a wet fish. The wiring was a mess, there was a bearing missing from the output shaft because the gearbox shell was duff and they hadn't taken the time to get a replacement, the rear knuckles were each missing a large bearing on the inside and one of the front c-hubs is the incorrect one leading to a positive/negative situation reminiscent of Edd China's Outspan Orange! When Matilda hits the trails at Gurney Slade on Saturday she's gonna be a different rig to the one my Partner drove last Saturday!!

Popular Post tomr
I stripped every nut, bolt, gear, diffs, shocks, o-rings, the full lot! Rebuilt it all and even managed to take most of the paint off the body where it had been painted without being keyed first so was flaking . Blasted it over with silver for now, will be getting it dirty tomorrow anyway 👍 Edited September 11, 2021 by tomr

Popular Post Bert_w164
Lost all faith in whoever built the kit as I started to discover more gremlins including a missing pinion bearing in the rear gearbox (facepalm). It's not a complaint really as I expect this with used stuff, especially when you pay not much more for what a used FTX carnage costs for a Losi 8ight 4.0 with a few spares. The chassis isn't warped, bent or anything awry, shocks are healthy, diff internals are in excellent condition, but it's clearly in need of maintenance. The Mrs asked what I want to do on my bday, and my answer was for her to rebuild 4.0 according to losi specs. I'm doing all the clean up, refreshing of diffs, replacing missing or worn parts and prep work... All metal parts including screws are sitting in solvent to remove crud, take away any surface corrosion (thankfully hardly any of that other than on the turnbuckle metal) then an acetone bath to remove any oils and a low temp session in a dehydrator to ensure all water is removed. First stage of dish soap bath with a toothbrush, still crud on them but going to repeat the process and may be turn to something a little more aggressive in the degreasing department that is plastic safe too. Brian-2.0
Stripped down both front and rear axles on the Ryft, cleaned bodged and re'greased while I wait for the diff lockers to come back into stock 😔

Popular Post billyb_imp
I’ve had very little time for the last couple of weeks and only an hour today, I had previously had a problem with the CC-01 steering gear fouling on the gear sump, got this resolved today with steering links now in place and cover on, will hopefully have an extra day off work during the coming week and spend it on this build.
ghazghul
Pointed a blowtorch at front end of the tuber crawler thing that's not progressing and removed all the brass tube I had added. Will try again, but work out where the battery goes first!!! The I loaded Quake again and the afternoon vanished.

MrCake
Converted it to brushless and ran it as a test. Decided I should probably go down a tooth as it was a bit too much power. While cleaning it, I realised that the car had also decided it was too much and something has broken at the front end as the diff is no longer working. Popular Post Kpowell911
Got the Maxx Shell mounted using the new cage that has been back ordered since forever, also replaced two tyres that I blew To celebrate, for the first time in I think forever, all my Traxxas Model were in one house, not scattered so thought Id snap a pic 🙂 I'm quite proud of this, because other than the Maxx and Xmaxx (which share the same TX) all of these are independantly RTR, with batteries etc
