That's a beast of an ESC, @Ant.p hope you get on well with it. That castle data gathering feature looks awesome. Might have to get one of these myself down the road 🙂

In the meantime, my puny 1/8 sized 220a ESC and Reds 2800kv 6S rated motor will have to make do 😞

That’s by no means puny for 6s!!

Took the TRX4 for a walk in the snow.

(Not the greatest pic as the dog wanted to help take the picture 🤣)

Awesome I bet the TRX4 was good fun in the snow.
I can't wait to take my Losi SBR out in the snow if we get any. Has to be easier to clean than mud.

Worked out the internal springs for the old Integy MSR10s are a perfect fit as coil overs for the alloy shocks you can pickup for WPL C24, and are much softer that the touring car spec springs you seem to get with them.  They are tapered and the small end fits inside the spring perch doodad.  Also found some soft tyres and greased the portal gears.  Need to decide on paint next.

Took my son down to a BMX track with his Losi 8ight and came back with no breakages, which was a result. Yes, he could have bashed it a bit harder, but he still had fun.

Until we got home that is - when I made him clean it himself. He used half a pack of wet wipes (I was out at the time) and didn't do a bad job considering it was caked in mud and he's only 11. I don't doubt there are younger kids out there doing a better job of it, but it's his first time cleaning a car and we all have to start somewhere.

Still lots to do.

I always let them dry then just hit the chassis to remove any big bits then use a brush.

I got to spend some time with the TRX4 kit tonight and have mounted up the tyres, built the gearbox and put most of the chassis together.

Then, I made a wobbly pile of the bits to see how it might all end up sitting inside the van body shell.

I suspect I’ll try and start a build thread soon as I have some questions that I might need a bit of help with from people who’ve put these together before.

Wow the body shell fits great and covers the wheel arches! Cant wait to see finished up!

Insomnia so spent the night wrenching and drilling 😂

Re inforced bodyshells with bits of thin aluminium, seemed to work well on the highrock doors so did the same for the trx4 bronco shell as its getting a bit floppy.

Also rebuilt and stiffend the rear corners, helps hold the body in place and not pop out the rock sliders.

Did the same for the ftx highrock shell, rebuilt cracked corners, body post mount plate, wheel arches fixed.

Then moved onto fixing the Highrock chassis as it had multiple issues since its tumble, Fixed broken axle pinion, lower link, added back missing bearings & screws.

Replacment front drive shaft installed, i use axial wraith drive shafts fit a treat they weight a fair bit and its unsprung win win, replaced the transmission output driveshaft with a cut down mauler shaft as it kept popping the universal joint pins on the plastic version.

Made up some beefy high clearance links from element spares, got them to work and fit on the back!

Another recovery point, fixed towing line, block and tackle ground anchored winchline.

Also put single stage foams in the back and 2 stage foams in the front, now heading out for testing!

Put the finishing touches on the 3d printed battery tray. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out 🙂

(Apparently grey wasn't good enough and my son demanded I make it again in red!)

Nice work looks sturdy, what printer do you use if i may ask please, is that abs or plea? Might have to pick your brain as looking into getting a printer at some point 🙂

It's printed on an Ender 3 in PLA.  Printers have come down in price so much now that even if you're vaguely interested I'd recommend getting one. Just bear in mind that you need to treat it as a hobby, just like RC. The more time you put into it the better your results will be.
