I looked and didn't find a thread for these, if I'm wrong please delete. Just got mine today, after going back and fourth about buying one for a while. I've never been huge on buggies to be honest, but this thing is a little weapon, so much fun! Will have lots of pictures to come and video of the maiden speed runs and beat down.4 points

People with the means to buy up loads of ReRe kits and then sell on for a profit. He/she is currently listing a good number of what's in that cupboard. Obviously bought with the sole intention of selling on at a later date for profit when the models are sold out/unavailable in the stores. Yes, I know there's nothing illegal about it, and some might say it's just good 'business' sense, but to me it just leaves a sour taste in the mouth, not what RC is about, well any hobby for that matter. There will be people out there that can only really afford to buy one at a time, and then when they have saved enough/budgeted for it, they find there's no stock because various greedy so & so's have bought up all the stock to sell on. Grrrrrr..... Rant over. (yes I know, market economy and all that, but remember, just because you can doesn't mean you should...).3 points

So the Max 6 is all ready to go. I did give it a little test out in the street and I'm not going to lie I'm now absolutely terrified of it. Partly due to it being a while since I've soldered anything and I don't entirely trust one of the connections 🤣 Will give it a good run tomorrow.3 points

My eldest found a PS5 listing that sold for over five hundred quid, but the listing clearly stated "box only", no law broken.2 points

I saw some Xboxes going for £1,400. People are stupid. You can't possibly be THAT desperate to play a video game. RCs aren't that important either, but I think there is a fine line here, so if the vehicle is no longer available, like you say, potentially decades old, then fair enough. I recall a chap who had bought a Rolex back in the 60s, he paid $175 for it or something similar, because he never wore it, never took it out the box and never even filled in the (STILL valid) warranty, it was worth upwards of $750,000. I don't like to see other people ripping other people off. I believe the hobby is about community. I'd give stuff away before ripping people off. I've turned down sales because the item wasn't right for the persons application many times. I guess there's two types of people in this world, I know which ones I'd rather have, world would be a better place if less people were profit minded. The irony is if the world was full of the kind of person who agrees with this, then nobody would be able to afford anything, eventually.2 points

Well as much as I would love to take credit for the metal fab work I can't. The bed is actually made by King Kong RC for the zil trucks so it's all their doing.2 points

Thanks for the welcomes guys, I already feel at home with a bunch of like minded people. Your never too old to play with toys more expensive than some people's actual car!2 points

So it's been a pig to figure out but also a breeze to do in other aspects. Measurements have been checked too many times to count to make sure this would work. But the result even before paint is a perfect harmony between front and rear. I present to you the almost complete 76 Ford F150 farm/stake truck 🙋♂️2 points

Maybe I'm strange, but i don't see anything wrong here. It's just how the market works. If you can afford to make an investment then you do it and hopefully turn some profit on it, everything works like that... Morally wrong would be stocking up some life essential products and then sell them in case of shortage, just to make profit. For example food or water in case of some big natural disaster. That would definitively be wrong in all aspects... But making profit on reselling hobby stuff? Perfectly OK to me, if you want it, you pay it. I'm quite sure that RC cars are not life essential , are they? It's luxury product just like many other nice things that we actually don't need, but we buy them because we can afford them.2 points

Found this on the ROSSA page, so linking here so i doesnt get lost to time. Really worth the read! Airflow dynamics around RC cars. On the point im considering this for my speedrun 100+ body, shape looks like it would cut throught the air well and hold the line.2 points

I have to fess up and say i have toyed with this at times, as i am in a position to buy up some stock and hold it till i can turn a profit, but 2 things hold me back, as said while its not illegal i dont really agree with the notion and more important dont know what to stock up on lol, my luck i would buy 10 new model "X" and end up stuck with them2 points

Well that's everything now ordered, so I think by the end of next week I'll actually be able to start putting things together. The build will be done in the spare room, once I sort a desk out. @Yrkoon That's a good video, I think I've got his build bookmarked. Thanks for the extra tips, I'll keep an eye out for when i need them. And just briefly coming back to the fishtank (sorry), @Stormbringer If you did get the tank from PetsatHome, it's unlikely to be a Clearseal, as they only supplied them with basic tanks any nothing over 2 foot.2 points

She’s took a hammering this morning , rear tyres worn out after 1 lipo , rear tower bent and wing mount snapped , but who cares it was blooming awesome trying to keep it straight , after all the different builds , once lockdown is over and head back to the woods , I think the truggy version will be best for me , I can use the backflip lp’s for the rough and my fastrax truggy tyres for big flat lawn areas2 points

Yeah If you’re not using a stock body or wing you’ll have to drill your own holes .2 points

when i built mine i used the main kitchen table and also hijacked dads tv a bit, had my own tv upstairs but needed more space for this build as it is more complex than any build i have built before, built a lunch box on my bed no problem and a grass hopper but one look at the parts on this build meant i needed proper space. mum normally goes clear your stuff before bed to dad, i had none of that as i could leave all my tools and stuff all over, think mum likes me better go autism 😛2 points

found a sweet vid of a dc1 crawling earlier pretty immpressive the stuff it gets up and a lot quieter than mine, it is quite mesmermizing just watching it 🙂 oh when you come to the shocks, they are a bit meh and you will need to file down the sides with a hand file on the wee plastic ring that fits between the circlips and there are some discrepancys particialry on the body which slowed me right down and both me and dad had tons of screws left over..... lol dad and i both had no holes for the wiper screws which hold the dash board to the shell, a wee hand drill sorted that 🙂2 points

A bit more progress, I bought another chassis cage ( they are dirt cheap) and painted it, then swapped everything over, stripped the axles, replaced and greased all the bearings, rebuilt with loctite. Its all wired now, the wiring needs a bit of tidying, plugged a battery in and each ESC bleeped, but I still have to calibrate them....Im not happy with the body panels I made, so Ill faff around some more, or possibly pop a Kamtec Beetle body on it.....need to source suitable sized Lipo to fit and its pretty much done. With the widest wheel hubs fitted the tyres dont rub on the links Less waffle...photos!1 point
