They should be with me tomorrow. Due to the printer the other colours are slightly different shades but still vivid and look awesome. I'll do a site wide announcement when they are ready to buy.4 points

So today has been quite productive on the UMG10. Firstly, I wanted to add a scale details to remind me of when I built this truck, so went for a local paper with a COVID 19 headline. As my truck is supposed to be on safari I thought the Mt Kenya Times would be a good paper. I hope no-one is offended by the detail but this will always remind me that it was built in lock down. Then it was onto cage construction, all went pretty well, no big gotchas and possible with two hands and a lot of body reaming lol Connecting the cab to the cage went pretty well, although I would have preferred a couple of bolts near the roof, all the connectivity is lower on the cab, but it does work. Note to self, don't pick the truck up by the cage. Then a couple of bolts at the back and the body was hinge mounted to the chassis. The interior is mounted when you connect the cab and the cage, with the front held in place the the screws for the windscreen wipers, it fits together really well. Still lots to do, currently I am waiting for some clear acrylic paint for the headlight lenses, and some RC4WD diamond plate aluminium to detail the bed. Overall, it was a great build, went together well and was a lot of fun. I have reinforced the rear spare tyre will with some gorilla tape as it was very thin from the moulding process and will be adding diamond plate there too, even though the tyre will cover it. Will post more as I progress with the detailing.3 points

This is where I'm at right now. I believe the worst is over I'm in no rush to complete this as yesterday I remembered that it has light buckets and I'm short of a few LED's so they've been ordered, probably going to take longer than usual.3 points

Clearly the car has been stolen by an individual that chooses to steal items rather than put some hard graft in at the mill to be able to buy such a motor (what was it BTW?), i have a very low opinion of people that choose this way in life, and if i caught someone doing it, they would find out why i use the name Jack Reacher because im just a big, just as ugly and have a similar attitude Just a suggestion rathe rthan using up rc funds, when insurance wey in get something a little less money, i run a 62 plate Honda jazz, its all i need from a car, had the fast cars had the car that gets stolen now this is all i want from a motor2 points

It wasn't towed, they have a 2 hour stay policy and thats it. All you would get is a parking charge. None of the guys who were working outside the store knew anything so I can't imaging it being that. It was done on the 29th as well so I'm sure I'd have heard something from a towing company by now.2 points

Totally feel for you man, awful predicament... And not wishing to add fire to fire ( if that is possible right?) but I also share your frustration with the amount of bleeders in this country. That is not to say that everyone on benefits fits the bill, of course not and I’m sure you know this also but certainly an awful lot of folk bleeding our system through many different avenues... Disgusts me. You ( all of us) just wait and watch what the repercussions of this covid scenario will cause re bleeding!! Goodluck sorting the car dilemma out, and don’t forget that you do not have to accept the first offer your insurance company makes. If you can prove value to be otherwise then prove it to them 👍🏻2 points

On furlough here too, finished my last bit of work at the end of April and no new work in the foreseeable future. My company (I am a salaried employee of my own company) has a bit of money so I am safe for now. On the ModelSport side of things, my Fiance has ordered me a birthday present for later this month. She ordered it first thing this morning, and has just received an email saying it is shipping tonight. Stunning service, hats off to all at ModelSport.2 points

Had a Hyper 7 about 10-12 years ago along with a selection of others before and after (RC10, LST and HN CRT etc..) Looking forward to contributing to this thread.2 points

Sadly here in the U.K. Arrma love to give us the short end of the deal when it comes to warranty or free upgrades that other countries get. Now this said don’t think for a minute other companies are better look at the Traxxas X Maxx hassles and there so called cheap upgrade kits for the old version that we here got ripped off on ! It’s sad but we are a very small market and one these companies don’t really try that hard with. logic are normally pretty good at dealing with claims etc sometimes it might take a while if they have to go back and forth with the company but you can’t really blame them for that2 points

Added to all that.... The wheels look damn fine mate and if you’d never had said we’d never of noticed or questioned!!...2 points

I just wanted to thank everyone on the forum. We are living in weird times, I haven't seen my fiance or my dog for 6 weeks, I go out once a week for shopping and this forum has become my sanity. So, a big thank you to Nick, to all the gurus, newbies, regulars and irregulars on the forum. Thanks you for your time, your experience and your commitment to the forum. If this forum helps no-one else, please be aware that you have helped my mental health and well being during these strange days. Carl1 point

The UMG is marginally faster but being old I don't have the reactions for a fast winch lol. My C1 is the only one without a winch currently, may have to address that.1 point

An extended chassis, long chassis brace, side guards and long prop shaft for my LC Buggy - project to convert to Short Course. (Courtesy of @.AJ.) Also ordered some paint for the shell and ordered a Phat Bodies Kaboom shell for my lad's MT (think it'll end up as a mini truggy)1 point

@ChrisT I wondered the same, but it can't be that as my masking following the shut lines of the lights, they were definitely good. It's also a pretty commonly recorded problem with a few builders on YouTube and the Tamiya forum too. Some seem to fit fine, some don't, my main theory is slightly differences in the bodies, 1mm here and there could create quite big gaps no doubt. I am glad yours is all good.1 point

tbh if someone was making a good income i'd doubt they need to steal a car.1 point

have I just hit the jackpot? found an old tool box in the garden full of old rc stuff an found a quicrun1060 brushed, is that nearly perfect for the sendero? I know a 1080 is recommenced but still? will it crawl on 3s?1 point

OK. I've made a start and so far not bad. @Oh How Original I've had a thought as to why some of yours and others stickers were off and didn't match up. Possibly the window masking was out? Iff that is too far forward it will throw everything off. I've nearly complete one side and everything seems to match up perfect with no stretching or pulling. The upper grill sticker should give this a neat finish.1 point

Thank you the Audi took me hours to do but was good fun Thanks for your suggestion on the body posts, I will order some, they seem like exactly what I need I did run the car on the lowest setting at first, not realising just how low that was, but it has been raised now. Having thought about it though, you are right about the handling as there is already a noticeable difference in handling and stability even between those two points.1 point

The finish is quite different. I've both the Chanquish and Vanquish wheels and the machining and polishing on the Vanquish is what you'd expect. Annodising is also satin rather than a gloss finish. They also have writing on the wheels themselves and the hardware is Imperial. But one set is £30 and the other £100! SLW hubs from VP come in black and clear so that's one tell tail sign.1 point

Forgive me, but arent you talking about the engine here? All the engine/clutch/clutch bell will be gone?1 point

So the build continued today, thanks to furlough. Today was my first attempt at painting a lexan interior that included the driver. The Axial kit includes the interior and a head for the driver with a choice of 3 hats. As we are going for the safari park look I went with the stetson as it was the closest to a game park ranger. I had painted the inside of the lexan interior white to match the rest of the truck and thought I would need a key on the outside to paint the figure. I had some Tamiya PS-55 flat clear and gave the lexan a coat. Note to self, don't do this again. The PS-55 didn't like the acrylic paints I had, and it would not adhere properly, it acted like water on oil and sort of ran away from where I put it. A quick bit of roughing with wet and dry addressed that issue and the driver was painted. No laughing at the colour of his face, I am ragingly colour blind so for all I know his face could be purple now lol. The paint job isn't perfect but its okay and I think the clothing looks a bit like cloth with the uneven colour (that's my excuse and I am sticking to it) The interior did end up with stickers in it. I normally avoid stickers like the plague (hmmm maybe not the best turn of phrase considering the current situation) but I relented and did use them for the interior. I am pretty happy with the result. Final bit of work was adding mirrors, door handles and snorkel to the cab. Rear cage assembly is for tomorrow.1 point

Hi @CarlC, Great to hear you are doing well and the forum is making you find some comfort through these very unusual times. I believe a positive and transparent community really helps people bond and be part of a greater good. Let me know if I can help at all, or just want a chat. I've been sending a PM to every new member recently (which takes a while. ) and I've really enjoyed some of the conversations from it! All the best and thank-you, your words are really appreciated, Nick.1 point
