  7. Running the shoes backwards make the clutch bite harder and gives a more positive feel. Standard they bite on the trailing edge so flip the shoes and it will bite on the leading edge so you get less slip. Well thats the theory , never tried myself as i use Lauterbacher 4 shoe clutch's as they last for ever. 4 years out of one set of shoes lol

  9. Finally got around to doing a bit more to the truck. Had gotten fed up of the project due to problems with the diffs and suspension. Diffs weren't smooth running at all so needed to be rebuilt. Unless they're set up just right they will bind. Shocks are rubbish and take some playing about with to get them right. Springs vary a lot but stretching them a bit allows getting them all even. Changed the motor to a 400rpm one. Top speed is still slow but no longer snail like. Found a better servo as well. Has 2 1/2 times the torque. Same case as the original but with a bigger motor which sticks out of the bottom of the case. Made up a servo voltage reducer lead. Only cost a few quid for the parts but has a proper regulated switching power supply with adjustable output. Fitted the Quicrun 1625 ESC and a FlySky Rx.Everything is just held in place with an elastic band for testing. Quick vid of the crawling test. Actually crawls a lot better than expected. John BTW ignore the little logo in the middle, put there by the free software used to convert the video.

  11. Allmost ready to run. Just needs receiver and transmitter. Lot of upgrades included Alloy front upper and lower suspension arms and a four link set-up fitted. Also a GPM steering set-up, alloy shocks, hi-torque servo and of course fully ball-raced. Motor is an Etronix Tuned 50T brushed re-buildable motor. Good compromise between speed and torque. ESC is LiPo capable and has a crawler mode although the drag brake is not adjustable but it works very well in the CC-01. Radshape steel bull bar and ali skid plate fitted. Rollbar has been de-chromed and painted satin black and fitted with spot lamps. Tyres are ne fast track kong 1.9 .Tyres have not been glued to rims. Needs transmitter and receiver.flysky in pic not included

  12. Bought mine from Trade4me.de, excellent service. As to the truck....not used it yet (Shame on me) but initial impressions are it's much a much with the buggy build wise - ie good but with the same annoying slop issues.

  18. Theres a few silly reasons you look at first. 1.. Make sure your stop switch isnt stuck in 2.. Make sure your exhaust tip isnt blocked with mud 3.. if you have one fitted disconnect the kill switch If all thats ok then move on to diagnosing the problem further

  19. I only got mine Tuesday so still getting used to it but there's a very good thread in the electric section for all thing E Firestorm. I can't tell you how fast it is as I don't have a way of measuring the speed. But I quickly found out that its worth fitting the included wheelie bar as it likes pointing its nose at the sky or sliding down the road on its back lol.

  20. I was after one of them, tried eBay but didn't find the right size then messaged an eBay seller who had the wrong size and they had others they could get made to order, it was no more expensive than a normal one, just took a few days to arrive, might be worth a try Jim.

  22. Yes it has an auto cut off but the esc can be programmed and there is a guide in the manual if you need to change any of the settings on the esc. Yes it has an auto cut off but the esc can be programmed and there is a guide in the manual if you need to change any of the settings on the esc.

  27. Reversing doesn't really change the engagement point, it just changes how hard the clutch engages and when reversed it engages and hits the clutch bell harder and faster so you get less slip. This is not something that I've just done, it's a very very common thing and you're understanding of what a clutch does when it's reversed is all wrong.

  30. I just found it in my box...... ;-). Thanks bro, it's a lot nicer and firmer than stock (and the Losi 22). Just doing a quick edit from the videos my friends son took on my iPhone. Had to put some music over it as there was a lot of talk unrelated to RC Cars....... I think it's ready. 38 seconds = 10 minutes in Adobe Premiere (never used it before) https://youtu.be/gpkrZ1OhG2Y

  32. They're the metal ball ends to replace the plastic ones... No chance of snapping these now and they wear much much slower, so worth the investment IMO.

  33. Well you're wrong Steve..... this last clutch that was fitted lasted the longest of any of my clutches...... it just still didn't last as long as I was hoping. Reverse mounting reduces clutch slip and clutch slip is the cause of clutch wear. It's just basic physics. Anyway CY clutch as been ordered.

  34. WEar will depend a lot on driving style...and spring choice. Harder spring means the motor is spinning faster when the clutch contacts the bell. Also, if you are not hard on teh gas all the time, it means the clutch will be slipping a lot of the time as you go on and off the power. I ditched the 8000rpm spring on the shorty as the thing spent a lot of time away from full gas as jamming the throttle tended to lift the front, so I had to ease the power in more. That got the clutch hot quickly. Worth paying for a good quality clutch, as the friction material will be better, but if you like the feel of the stiffer spring, and have an off/on driving style, then expect a shorter life. I had an over-tuned RD400 that was like that. HD clutch just resulted in wheelies, and you had to slip the clutch to get the motor into the powerband. Ate clutches....and chains...and petrol....and 2 stroke oil...and plugs...and .....

  38. check both front wheels spin freely, if the front left wheel is stiff then the diff will send alot of power to the right front which will cause the car to turn left with power on. have you serviced the diffs yet?

  39. The thing with grease is most people think the best way is to wack a load on and leave it....in actual fact this is just as bad as not putting any on at all as it just attracts grit and dirt - when you apply grease its best to apply using a rag and wipe all the excess off so its a thin layer rather than a dollop, this will minimise the attraction of dirt yet still keep the parts moving freely.

  45. JET-POWERED MAVERICK BLACKOUT I hope that a jet-powered Maverick Blackout is worthy of mention on this thread! The engine is the new Wren DC100 iKero - so fully digital, inc brushless starter motor and fuel pump. And finally as requested a good few moons ago - videos of motion of some sort! The microphone ceases to pick up the actual noise at certain RPMs, sounding more like trying to tune a radio. On move-off, watch the tree-foliage in the further background. That was about 100,000rpm https://youtu.be/IguVcGxH15A And another...I just blipped the throttle to about 70% power for a few seconds, the rest was momentum: https://youtu.be/uCFKifDL-2U And lastly - gentle movement! https://youtu.be/nZ-0m8pty2k
