Not wanting to start a mask debate. I’ve known several people who have caught covid, several of them being hit very hard. One of them in hospital. Fit and heathy guys.

masks don’t stop you inhaling virus imo, but they are helpful in stopping transmission if you have the virus.

Although there will be a time for society to analyse what has happened (and will happen) with regards to the   government and the limit of their powers (for instance, it may be that so many lockdowns were not needed or the modelling was flawed etc...) I always saw facemasks to be such a small sacrifice (if you can even call it that) that it is not even worth discussing to be honest.  Even if they only help to reduce transmission by 1% (say a very small number), or even if it doesn't help but it reassures people and reminds them to be careful regarding transmission I still think the government is right to mandate them, and i never understood why folks are against it.  It  is something so simple and easy to use.  But again that is just my opinion.  One has to measure the impact of the measures regarding transmission  vs the impact they have on society.  To me masks have very very little impact, i dont mind them at all. To be honest i doubt that we will ever now go back to normal. Masks, sanitizing gel etc.. are here to stay. 
Again the time will come for society to discuss all this, Lockdowns, school closures etc... But we are still in it, hopefully at the end.

Pretty much as the man says above, it's such a small effort to make, it's not harming anyone by wearing a mask, so at the point in which over millions have died, if the masks save even 1% it's worth it.

like said no bother wearing one in shops takes a couple of seconds to put on or on public transport the least we can do to help out atm like bert said any deaths saved worth it in my eyes.

i wouldnt worry about kevs advice i wouldnt trust him driving an rc let alone medical advice HAHA

Maybe the people that wear them aren't scared of the "scary air" and actually wear them because they are unselfish people who care about other peoples health or concerns?

You could even argue there's an indirect benefit to wearing them, e.g. psychologically by doing so, regardless of how effective we may think it is, we're all accepting there's a real problem out there and taking measures to try and control the situation. It brings the issue closer to everyone when we carry out an action specifically due to Covid-19. In turn that'll sit in people's head and make them more likely to do things to avoid the spread/give them better awareness. 

 

I can't say I'm surprised by his comment, shouty wanna be 15 again excitable man-child comments on topics beyond him. At the end of the day, he has a comfortable life, plenty of groupies, fame, success and the rest...As long as he and his are okay, I doubt he really cares about much else.

Precisely. Does anyone think we will go back to normal after this? i highly doubt it.  This thing will be seasonal, we have the flu and other airborne virus. People are aware now, and they know the risks and consequences. Masks are here to stay, maybe not government mandated but many folks will still wear it.

I love Kevin's content from an entertainment perspective, but I don't watch his channel for his scientific content. /Shrug

He forgets...as do many others....that a face covering was NEVER to stop YOU getting the virus, but rather to ensure you don;t pass on a virus. A subnstantial number of thoser contracting the virus develop no symptoms, but are very capable of pasing it on, potential to those closest to them, and potentially to people vulnerable to the virus.

 

It's much the same with the vaccine....with folks thinking it gives them immunity. It does no such thing. It provides the body with a means of combating the virus, massively reducing hte likelihood of a severe case and hospitalisation. It will reduce deaths and hospital admissions, but it won;t stop you getting it...or passing it on.

 

People do love to shout about 'their personal freedoms' ,...... whilst completely ignoring the fact that their behaviour affects other peoples personal freedoms. I have the right to walk down the street, get on a bus, and go about my business without hte risk of some 'I'm alright.....screw you lot' idiots who are so sure they are OK, they don;t need to take precautions. I wear a mask where I am required to, avoid crowds, socially distance, and take this whole thing very seriously. I like to think I have done everything I can to prevent others getting sick should I have the virus and not know, and that matters to me.

Late to this as usual!.. But completely agree on masks, everyone comments on how much better I look with my full Spiderman mask on ( and matching skin suit).... 🤣

 

But honestly, joking aside, it's such an easy simple thing to do yet so many( Selfish buggers) folks don't bother. In the thick of it I commented on a chap not wearing a mask in a petrol garage and he actually wanted to fight me!!And there's been many more similarly aggressive responses when I've challenged others.... NOT GOOD...

 

On the plus side, we are at least getting closer to being out of this current stage of the Covid chapters.... Onto the next strain now and global economic ruin 😁
