  1. Hi The Dumborc 350 is quite new, so UK supplies unlikely. Through eBay, mine came in a week. I bought it as I already have a Dumborc radio with 5 or 6 receivers and wanted the adjustability and model memory that the new radio has. Other than that, I’m more than happy with my GT5, as others are happy with the GT3. I think you are right that the NT4 is a higher quality model, though I’ve not held one. The GT5 and Dumborc 350 feel solid in the hand too. As for receivers, you need units that match the TX protocol of your radio. Dumborc use their version of FHSS, Flysky use AFHDS, AFHDS 2, AFHDS 3 and ANT, depending on which radio in the range you choose. GT5 is AFHDS2, Noble is AFHDS3, as an example. There is a chart on the Flysky website that shows which TX works with which RX. That is true for most radio’s, which can be considered as systems, though the Radiolink MT12 uses the EdgeTX operating system and a TX module which is capable of working across different TX protocols, so will work with receivers from different manufacturers. Unless you “need” this functionality, it’s probably overkill for most. They’re all great when compared to the AM 27MHz and FM 40MHz system used 20 years ago! The receivers for some of these systems can be quite expensive, so it’s worth checking that out too, if you think you will be expanding your fleet, haha! Please feel free to keep asking questions, there are lots of knowledgeable people on here whom love to help make having RC models a great experience. Cheers

  2. Premium bonds? If so for £150 a month personally I wouldn't bother as based on my returns over 10+ years it's less than 1% a year which is rubbish. Which is why I think their not worth it and would advoid at all cost.

  3. I dont think its designed to work on the Injora tarantula cage mate, i think its more for the chassis railed defender/bronco/chevy etc. i bet it will work a charm on the lcg carbon chassis they sell. either way, its a bit of a downer, how easy would it be to put it in the description of the ad if it wont be a straight fit, they did with the spacers in the front links that allowed the servo to touch the front of the cage. my lad has the carbon lcg chassis, i could try it on that if its no use to you at any point?? my Trx4m’s are now almost completed, just awaiting for my steering servo for the Chevy, replace the steering servo in the tarantula to one with a black case so it doesnt stand out as much then i would like a brown Ford F150 shell to be the start of a “small” project. ran out of paint for the obstacles ive made too although i am contemplating making another see-saw but more compact design this time, thats a job for when it warms up a bit lol.

  4. @Shergar, some very good advice there, i dont have any debt other than mortgage and thats not large. My bank account pays 3% cashback on utility bills and 2% interest on balance i get the max on that. Shares....we all know they can go down as well as up, so i would always steer clear. You are spot on with the work overtime, and it just so happens that Hanson Plywood who i work for have lowered the daily point at which we go to overtime, so in effect we are getting more overtime each month and it does make a huge difference to the monthly pay check, this will pay for my next model on its own, happy days. I have started building a pot of premium bonds, i am investing a pot of money that is set aside for my next 1;1 car purchase, at present this money is not earning so i will drop this in the bonds in blocks of numbers and see how it does over the 2 year period till i am ready to trade my car, i may just get lucky and scoop a couple of nice pay outs, im under no false illusion of getting the big one as we are in same odds as lottery

  6. Last day! I've never painted a driver figure, before. However, I think I did a pretty good job! A bit heavy-handed with the paint, but I'm happy, at least! Went for a properly retro design and paint scheme. And now, with the bodyshell fitted, the build is done! What a weird model. I'm very much looking forward to trying it out.

  8. For intricate decals its prob better to use water/washing up liquid mix so you can slide decals into position Then when in place use tissue or kitchen roll to dab them dry

  9. Thanks. Yeah, the colour is great. Couldn't be having it understated! No worries!

  10. Just got myself a used Hi-Rock and was wondering how to firm up the soft suspension on it. The shoks are full of oil but the spring does not feel very firm at all. I could put thicker oil in them im guessing. And there is no adjustment on them at all. So how do I go about finding a set of firmer springs? Or better shocks that would go straight on the car. Also does anyone know of a crawler track around the Greater Manchester area. I'm in Burh and ther is nothing near me at all many thanks . Any advice please. Regards John

  12. brilliant advise alex, many thanks 🙂 got alot to learn about this investing thingys 😄 i will look into an isa allowance as that sounds better than a savings account.

  13. If you don't already, utilise your ISA allowance as any return is tax free. There's plenty of free financial advisors out there so I'd 100% take advantage of them. If your workplace has a share scheme then I'd look into that. The two I've had both offered something different in terms of security and discounts ect. Currently I lose £103 a month from my monthly take home but gain £150 worth of company shares as I'm not paying any tax on it (salary sacrifice). After 5 years I can make a withdrawal and not lose anything, if I pulled out early if just get what I put in back. After the 5 years I'll have added £6180 from my own pocket but have £9000 worth of shares however the final value will ultimately depend on how well they've done over the 5 years. Thankfully I can't see the need for the industry I work in drying up anytime soon!

  18. Very informative posting and I appreciate your time, effort and expertise. 👍 I watched a fair number of video reviews, DumboRC and FlySky appear to have all the features, performance and reliability at an unbelievable price point. I was expecting and prepared to pay a high price however, the GT5 ticks all the boxes for me when compared to the likes of Futaba, Sanwa, RadioLink etc. I'm already looking at expanding the fleet! 😁 @SWF Going to order the GT5 with a few of the Flysky FS-BS4 2.4Ghz 4 Channel Receiver/Gyro Stabilization however, does the GT5 have both steering/throttle EXP? I have seen a few folk talk about how important it is to set EXP. These receivers feature gyro stabilization... is this similar to that found in drifting gyros, counter steering, etc? Again, appreciate your time and advice. 👍

  19. Just an FYI, I've £1500 with of premium bonds for over 10 years and earn less than 10% over that time. Martin Lewis did a piece comparing premium bonds to a low rate account and over a long period of time the savings account produced better return. No risk no reward ect however I'd strongly suggest looking into an index fund like the S&P500 or all world as for these to drop massively would mean we'd all be in a world a 💩

  22. Some thoughts…. Firstly nothing to be made in RC investments, pandemics over and hobby will wane again. Just measure the frequency of posts on forums compared to three years ago. But actual amateur blue collar worker investment advice? Well you could try this… Premium bonds were great when the banks were holding interest rates low, but you’d actually get a better return now from a savings account. Plus side easily accessible and that ‘app’ excitement once a month! Royal mint direct sovereigns in bog standard cheapest form (NOT the shiny limited editions!) have performed very well, but there is a 5%+ hit off gold spot price when you sell. https://www.bullionbypost.co.uk/gold-price/10-year-gold-price-chart-ounce-gbp/ Shares that produce dividends are the sweet spot - the dividend appearing is very nice little bonus too. But you can get burnt - you’d have thought having a chunk of Pharmaceutical giant GSK would have been great through a pandemic - but the opposite was true 🤐 https://www.dividenddata.co.uk/dividendyield.py?market=ftse100 I have a good investment portfolio, self managed, diversified in all the above. I only buy things understand or can liquidate easily (see above) I have shares in companies/retailers - for example buy Sainsbury’s and you can spot if things are going bad, buy into some south American mining firm and you’ve no clue its going to the wall 🤣 @Lone-wolf get the share app that comes with every phone and create a fantasy portfolio for say 5 different share's, not a number of shares but £1000 batches., then watch them for 3 months noting your fantasy buy in price and your cash out price. It will give you a clear idea if you have a lucky instinct 😉 My actual advice though…… extra hours at work. If I want to buy something - which lets be honestly don’t need because its a remote controlled toy 😉 - I do some overtime for a guilt free purchase. My other advice is don’t bother saving if you have debts elsewhere like credit cards etc, clear those first.

  31. Bodyshell masked off. This was very fiddly, as getting your hand in was not easy! I don't see any man hands ever being able to get in there, without struggling. I have no idea what really big men are supposed to do! Anyway, after much struggle, it was masked off. Most were fine. The headlamps were squint, but that didn't really matter, as I'd be using the standard headlight stickers. I figured a really lairy paint job was in order. As the box art grey/silver was waaaay too understated, for something this bonkers. Fluorescent orange... now that's more like it! All stickered up and mounted. It was looking good. Now, I just needed to paint the driver and tidy the cables. Most of the stickers were great. The side panels, especially, I did a really good job of. However, the headlights and the beams that go up the side of the windscreen... those were a different story. The curve of the polycarbonate caused real issues. The stickers are on, but they're lumpy/ripply, with air bubbles. Bit of a shame, but it looks good at anything but right up close. Unfortunately, my Voltz 1300mah 2s lipo didn't fit, but Overlander do their own 1300mah 2s that just fits. I bought one of those.

  32. Starting to feel 2WD Rcs are not for me. They just dont ‘bash’. Im talking about my BBX & Astute 2022. I just cant seem to dial them in to be ‘useable’ compared to 4wd. I appreciate I maybe over powered, but I had this issue with my Rustler/Stampede VXL. Maybe sell my Astute 2022 & BBX for a Hot Shot or a Top Force EVO? BBX looks so cool though! Hmm
