Or is this just the same size as you already have? Edit: that link is huge!

  6. Yes, a 1/10 in full kit form would be great, the suspension on this is great, so on a bigger truck would be really good.

  7. Nearly 40 years ago some friends of mine were getting married. We were all teenagers and none of us had any money. So when a mutual acquaintance told them they were in a Hawkwind tribute band and would play the wedding reception for free, the happy couple were delighted. On the big day, after the speeches the band started their set with Silver machine…. Then played Silver machine…. Followed by….you guessed it, Silver machine. It turned out that the “band” had only formed a couple of weeks previously and this was the first time they’d played in front of anyone, and Silver machine was the only track they knew! Someone had a boom box in their car, so it was decided that we’d link it up to the band’s PA and play whatever tapes we could find, but the band wouldn’t leave the stage and wouldn’t let us use their amp unless we agreed to let them play for a while longer. After an hour of Silver machine on repeat they were lucky to get out alive! Strangely, it’s a happy memory.

  11. Hi Have finally decided to sell my bike as it’s just not getting used enough to justify keeping it….. (and I need more RC’s! 🤣) This is just a toe in the water, it’s going in Autotrader next week but I thought I’d give you guys first dibs. Its set up for off-road at the mo with knobbly tyres and a small front sprocket (I still have the original sprocket and it’s an easy swap if you prefer higher gearing). It’s not in showroom condition cosmetically as it’s been kept outdoors and the paintwork has suffered but it’s been serviced regularly and is a solid reliable bike. It’s fitted with an Akropovic end can, but apart from that and the crash bars it is totally stock. The pannier rails on the back have been removed since this pic was taken, but I still have the panniers, also for sale. £3500 ono, WILL take RC’s as part exchange 🤣

  15. In the process of making this (Mardave Cobra Sport) work again, I have reversed the front wishbone and shock tower set up. It has lengthened the wheelbase buy 15+mm. Obviously I had to adjust the steering arms and the wishbones face the wrong way but structurally it seems sound. Hard to get a good photo but I tried. Aware I need to change the pins locating the wishbones as gravity is now an issue with the angle. Has anyone else done similar? Any other mods people can think of, open to suggestions. The shocks aren't great, don't know if the just need a good fettle. Any guidance on shock oil?

  17. Nope, it's clear, the position and spacing hasn't changed from the manufacturers set up.

  18. It is certainly something that can and is done. Just to to clarify you have flipped the arms and put the shock onto the rear of the shock tower? Is there anything coming into contact with the shock? Is there any strain on the shock, as in - is it at a funky angle putting stress on the shaft? Found this for you: https://www.thercracer.com/2010/06/mardave-cobra-front-suspension-mod.html Although they don't flip the arms. As long as the shock is not at a funny angle or it becomes short (if the arms were parallel with the ground and shock tower swept back meaning the shock with be over extending) then my guess it should be fine.

  20. Can be frustrating. I'm 55, been messing with engines since I was 12, and I still find ways to get confused Usually, it's down to an assumption I made, or a part I ruled out as being the cause without actually checking. If you haven't had the head off, do that next. Get a new base gasket before putting it back though. No silicon or other instant gasket. Will give you a good idea of the engines condition and likely amount of use. Is it a 2 bolt or 4 bolt motor? I had a few 2 bolt heads crack. One OBR ported head split clean through from the base to the exhaust bolt holes. Crack ran along a fin base and was very hard to see from outside. Blindingly obvious from inside....

  25. How i missed this I have no idea! What an awesome thread read. Really enjoyed it with my morning brew. Having those issues and problems to overcome are part and parcel of the hobby and you overcame them, solved the issue and bounced to the top. Nice one!

  26. Back to first principles..... motor needs 3 things to run. Fuel, spark and compression. 1) Fuel. You know you got fuel going in....but.... Check what carb you have. There are decent carbs ( Walbro) and some really quite nasty clone carbs that used to get shipped on some of the clone motors. They also had different baseline settings..not the usual ones you will find quoted everywhere. That would give you all sorts of issues. Also check the choke....and your starting procedure. Prime until the bulb is full and fuel is moving, choke on....pull a few times until it coughs...then choke off, and pull. Should fire right up. 2) Spark. It's possible you have a bad plug. Worth getting a replacement from a REPUTABLE supplier, as there are many cheap and rubbish copies on E-Bay. A bad plug may spark nicely when you test it out of the cylinder, but break down under load. Also check the plug lead is in good order, and the coil gap should be about hte thickness of a piece of thin card ( It was one good use of those taxi phone number cards I used to get through the letterbox before Uber was a thing) 3) Compression. Trickier to measure....but if you take the plug out and put through thumb over the motor, you should feel a decent amount of compression pushing your thumb off the plughole when you pull the pullstarter. If you don't you could have a blown base gasket, worn ring or worn out barrel. These are plated with no proper liner, so when the plating wears, you lose tolerance very rapidly and the compression goes. If you see any scoring or marking in the plating, this is not a good sign. The base gasket between the crankcases is also very thin around hte transfer ports. This can blow out, tear or otherwise fail...meaing your compression drops and your motor sucks fresh air in rather than fuel mix. These are fairly basic 2 stroke motors, but they can be fussy. Once you get to the bottom of hte issue, though, it should start easily every time. You just have to keep going until you find out what's wrong!
