Put some nicer 4mm bullet connectors on the new motor for the TRX4 and swapped it into the chassis. Based on a quick drive around the dining room floor it seems a good bit more powerful that the stock motor (it’s quite happy spinning all four wheels if you give the throttle a good squeeze) and seems nice and smooth at low speeds too.6 points

Got some xt60s soldered on to the hobbywing 0880 I bought off @Alex97. Best bit of soldering I've ever managed. Get that fitted in the summit tomorrow evening I think.4 points

Sorry if I’m spamming this thread ( with a long post as well!) but I thought I’d tell y’all about Cowboy Bob. I’m a bit unsure where I stand on the whole driver figure idea. I used to think it was a bit naff, but now I have Bob I’ve been swayed….and tbh my windows are so scuffed now, you can barely see him. So initially I was going for the full on detailed scale interior. Apparently it’s there on t’interweb if you have a 3D printer. I even got as far as commissioning one, but the guy kept making excuses and eventually I gave up on the idea. Then I saw a guy on Instagram using a coyote shell on another car, with a cowboy driver figure, and I messaged him for info. Turns out it’s from a Tamiya Holiday Buggy, so I got one from Modelsport. (It was “supplier stock” so took weeks to arrive) When it arrived I was surprised to find the base he sits on was much too small. There’s probably at least a 10mm gap all the way round. Messaged Instagram guy and he’d just hot glued it in place with a metal(?!) plate under it. So I got some styrene sheet, made a very rudimentary dashboard, added a back to the seat, and widened it a bit at the edges. Painted everything except Bob black and there he is. He’s only held in place with a bit of duct tape. Later I added a backlit “speedo” and “car radio” but I think I’ve probably bored on enough for one day.4 points

I got my fancy new soldering iron from China. Should mean I can do all my soldering without taking stuff into work to use the irons we have there. A quick test seems to show it working just as well as the much more expensive jbc stations in the office. Though I might try to pick up an extra chunky tip for doing things like bullet plugs and motor wires.4 points

@Fat Freddy looks good mate and liking the cowboy bob. I didn't used to like figures in cars but think it suits scalers,2 points
-
I'd email them and ask for a refund in the items. Then put a email notification for the items and see if they ever do. I forgot about stuff on backorder before and we'll over a year later remembered about them and got a refund2 points

Howdy. Like the background of Bob. Out ot interest how did you do the clear windows? Karl2 points

It's normal on a brushless setup to double push for reverse, first push is brake then second push is reverse.2 points

I had the Jambo it was a tough little truck only real issue was the front hubs but Corally made an upgraded hd version to sort that out. Only other issue was the pillow balls but you could just replace those with the Arrma ones and you where good to go I never had any issue other than that and I beat the living snot out of mine2 points

@Jack Reacher yeah I've ordered some more different types and going to experiment as sellers are very hit and miss with magnet specs.2 points
-
Cheers mate, it's my own design. I'm going to try some different magnets with a slightly higher vertical pull rating as think during a roll over the current ones would detach but there is a fine line between having the body stay on and it tearing at the post points when you try and pull it off normally. I'm sure I can sort you out a set mate.2 points

My honest opinion, i think cowboy bob is ace, i think bob`s long lost cousin jack is gonna take a seat in my F-150 soon (has to be Jack as truck has his private number plate), i did buy an action figure but he turned out to be a bit of a Tom (Cruise, as in tiny tom) I honestly used to think to much scale was tacky, now i think it just adds to the realistic look of the truck, if its a scaler @Fat Freddy keep it coming mate i enjoy your content, we will have to get together on a scale day out sometime1 point

I don’t do backorder for that very reason, I see it as more of a “we might get some at some point, we might not” so I either look elsewhere or find something different. Maybe you fancy sharing which items you are missing? Somebody here may have them going spare 👍🏻1 point

The iron is a clone of the JBC T210 handle and can use the same C210 tips, the stand is pretty close to what JBC ship too but the base station is Aixun's own design. The company seems to be a new ish Chinese one that has put out a few half decent bits of kit now including a couple of soldering irons and a nice little bench top PSU. Anyway, with all this you do seem to get close to the performance of a "real" JBC iron (the tip heats up from cold to 350C in two or three seconds)1 point

Some of the yt vids were ridiculous how they deliberately broke them then moaned how fragile they were 🥴 I may end up getting 1 of these ugly body aside1 point

It’s an Aixun T3B with the T210 iron. https://a.aliexpress.com/_mL7Rlxe When I picked this one I was looking for something that will be good for doing fine surface mount soldering as much as anything else so it isn’t the most powerful one they do. If you were looking for one to mostly use with wiring and chunky connectors then there is a T3A, with a T245 iron, that is probably better suited. https://a.aliexpress.com/_mrLD3gY1 point

You know what’s really the issue here I WANT ONE but I’m a tight bugger lately 😂😂😂😂1 point

Yeah, rrp on the Jambo was 529, is the Jambo one of the so called 'V2' versions? Just not labeled up as such? Was it one of their better efforts? Know a few peeps on here who had some of the earlier 6S Corally trucks were a bit disappointed with durability.1 point

only thing left was try to sort the wires out on the lc truggy then im happy (i think lol) seen few people using heatshrink so thought i give it a go, i think it turned out better than i thought 🙂 i have also moved the esc to top deck.1 point

Liking this, see what people mean about the body though. Looks chunky and tough underneath and a good spec, not sure why Corally don't have a bigger following than they do.1 point
