I have tried putting the jump cable into channel 4 to see if that would put the receiver into binding mode, but that doesn't do anything, and it turns out the link they sent me doesn't doesn't work, ot requires a password to view, witch they didn't give That RX is the wrong protocol and will not work with a GT5! You don't need to put a hole through the body, hide the ariel with the servo and ESC receiver wires (don't wrap it too tight as it is a coax cable)

MrCake
I dont go mad with jumps but it all just seems more plush. when it comes to landing and that is without me adjusting them yet Yes, I could have probably tweaked the stock ones but fancied an upgrade even if the price is a bitter pill. Nowt wrong with treating yourself! Did you consider any other shocks for it? I don't go mad for jumps but do find mine bottoms out at the front end. Think better shocks are the answer over thicker oil or more spacers but I do have to consider budget. Either that or I need to vastly improve my return to earth skills! My research consisted of reading this thread https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/arrma-granite-senton-typhon-big-rock-crew-cab-and-vorteks-shock-upgrade.42570/ and I went for what was basically the easiest if not probably most expensive option. totlxtc
2 hours ago, Rustic Ade said: I can measure spring dimensions but how do you quantify the stiffness of what I have against what I need? Well you say you are bottoming out on the front. By adding stiffer springs you will increase the spring rate. This will mean you need more force to compress the springs meaning less chance of bottoming out. By adding a bump stop then this will limit the travel of the shock meaning it will cushion the hit rather than the body of the shock, also limiting the bottoming out. Popular Post SXFoxstar
Following everyone’s advice over the past couple of weeks I had this lovely package arrive today! Thanks again for all of your help! I’ve already started to switch the Tamiya connectors out. My soldering needs some practise, it’s been a while!

Sorry, didn't explain what I meant. If I look to replace the springs for stiffer ones, how do I know what mine are rated at so I can look for stiffer ones. Could I use a short length of small silicone tube on the shock shaft as a bump stop?

Silicon tube or nitro fuel tube will do the job. Plenty of vids out there explaining how to 👍

Popular Post Kpowell911
Time for a little test. Last week, I took a bone stock TL-01, with 27mhz radio, MSC, a Stock Silver Can 540 and a 7.2v NIMH to 13mph. Today, we have a TL-01 with: Bearings Speed Tuned Gears 2.4ghz Radio Hobbywing 1060 ESC Tamiya BZ Superstock 23t Motor 2S 7.4v Lipo With the exception of the lipo/2.4ghz, this was a sort of achievable set up for 12 year old me in 1999. The new TL-01 also has other mods, but not that will necessarily affect TOP SPEED. Ive also glued Rally Block tyres with inserts. We shall see

Popular Post Kpowell911
So, decided to take another 2 RCs out with the TL-01. The Traxxas Rally because I intended going to a car park type area, and the XRT just because Ive only used it twice and the Mrs will soon start asking why I spent £1700 on it…… However, what we really went out for was to test the TL-01. Truth be told it was uncontrollable, and drifty, but even so, I managed 22mph. I reckon theres more in it, potentially enough to double the stock MSC powered TL-01, which is pretty incredible for whats effectively £70ish of parts. I do have an idea of how to get a bit more out of it mind. Then I tool the Rally out, seemed rude not to throw on the GPS whilst I had it, so that got a run. Quite happy with that, theres obviously a lot more there but I didnt have much room. I also had a play with the TSM which was very successful. TSM is basically a posh gyro, but it did really help. Im tempted to put the Traxxas TSM Radio in the TL-01 and see if TSM can help me hit 26mph. The XRT was the XRT. Out of its comfort zone really on an industrial estate road, but goos fun none the less. No breakages so just a bit of clean up and lipo care now
