  1. Yeah the 6s range seemingly need at the very least a £100++ chassis upgrade out of the box amongst other things. The v2 and 2.5 4s range though are fairly sorted. A bash bar (under chassis brace) is pretty much the only suggested upgrade and even that’s only needed for those talbot esque bashers. The new mojave 4s also seems a very decent option as well going by the reviews. I don’t know/care much about the company politics and all that tbh. I think we all agree that most prices are higher than we’d like nowadays with traxxas being amongst the highest but with that said I do still have my xmaxx and merv . I will admit the outcast has made me a bit of an Arrma fanboi recently though, it is a very nice model 🙂
  2. I’ll be that guy then and throw the new Arrma 4s v2.5’s into the mix (outcast and kraton). Personally I prefer the v2 because I want my mt to have a center transmission rather than a centre diff but hey ho. They are very good trucks though. Kraton being lwb and outcast being swb. I wanted a new 1/10 mt a while back and was torn between basically 4 different ones. Maxx, outcast, skeeter or mt 10, they all have their advantages (expensive tank, Arrma tough and mental handling, bulletproof drivetrain, cheap and tough). Settled on the outcast myself and love it. You couldn’t really go wrong with any of those imho, it’s all budget and personal preference really 😄
  3. Yeah those sound like the vids I watched with the “Castle cremations” comment - if the motor was suitable or not I didn’t/don’t care enough to look into tbh 🙂 My lack of trust actually stems from way back when - there are numerous horror stories (that I mostly read on here and other forums because well socials weren’t as much of a thing) of I think the original mamba monsters letting their smoke out. This is from a time when they were like 3x the cost of a comparable hobbywing (the og ezruns etc.). They also claim(ed) lower specs - mamba monsters are their 1/8 6s recommended esc, 120a const - 150a hobbywing/hobbyking/china chop shop/Poundland etc. 150a constant. So my view as a lowly basher…overpriced and underspec’d - not worth the risk - just my view. Let’s not have the snowflakes get all offended by my opinion again please.
  4. Oh I’m not using KT’s fires as my reasoning but castle cremations did make me chuckle inside, I’m just haunted by past horror stories. Many people do indeed run them without issue I’ll not argue with that 😄 Well your motor would probably be fine and your esc umm err yeah it might be fine 🙂 If I were to be looking for a new 1/8 esc nowadays it’d probably be either a hobbywing wp8bl150 or max8 or one of the ones from a rtr Arrma/corally (spektrum/torox) as they seem to have decent reviews. All depends on budget/availability really 👍🏻
  5. 1/8 (and pick your own scale 1/10 revos) generally run 4s-6s nowadays much as before tbh. Of course there are exceptions but that’s it generally. 1700kv castle motor would easily take a 5s or 6s but I’m not gonna comment on the mamba max, I’m one of those castle esc haters. Castle cremations to coin a phrase that made me chuckle while watching a talbot video one time 😏 Maybe you were happy with the speed in the past though? You could always just grab a couple (or 1 or whatever) fresh 4s packs and have at it - saying that I imagine some of my lipos are 10+ years old by now…maybe. 5s/6s would of course put more strain on the driveline but the old brushless revos took 6s so it may well not even be an issue.
  6. Back to the top, still looking 🥺
  7. My understanding would be that any/some of light that gets through the paint is then reflected back out. Iirc I’ve also seen silver suggested as a final layer for the same reason as white. I’ve not painted enough shells myself to have seen any difference though - it’s certainly not a requirement 😄
  8. @Gaz! appreciate the offer mate but they are 250g+ I believe so not really what I’m looking for 😢 @Bajadre nah I don’t even think it’s that, they just don’t even seem interested. Not even in the sims either. Maybe flying a flies itself drone will help them catch the bug, who knows lol
  9. Surprisingly none of them are actually that interested in my fpv drones at all, not even the whoops. I do think they’d be interested in “exploring” the world though with a dji type something so that’ll be cool. I’ve messaged 53hra so hopefully we can work something out. Facebook is frightening 😂
  10. Yes and no lol. I was considering selling the scorpion soonish to get something like an mt10 or granite for the kids rather than the old ecx that I have for them. Hmm 🤔
  11. Yeah middle of march, I just went all stalker and did a member search 🙂
  12. Aww I got all excited then for a minute. I found it but it’s a brand spanker and so more money than I want to spend 😞
  13. Yeah that definitely seems like a more realistic price for a decent setup for sure. I’ve been looking on Facebook but nothing has come up in a reasonable distance just yet, I’m very wary of just getting one posted from there as there seems to be so many scammers unfortunately. At least many of the members here are trustworthy 😁
  14. Small bump, I may have underestimated the value of these so that £200 seems to be the very bottom end. Willing to spend more for the right deal 👍🏻
  15. So yeah as the title really. I fancy seeing what the deal is with all this sub 250g dji malarkey. Seeing a bunch on ebay and Facebook for around £200 so looking around that really. Figured I’d ask on here before wandering through those minefields. Let me know what you’ve got 👍🏻 Oh I’d possibly consider the mini 2 se as well but would prefer just a 2.
  16. http://www.himotoracing.com/product/buggy/electric/buggy_e010/details.php?information=3 Parts list 👍🏻
  17. Looks like one of these to me - shootout 1/8 scale 👍🏻 Layout certainly looks more 1/8 than 1/10 with the centre diff like that to me. If it’s anything like other himoto things it probably shares parts with a bazillion other models/brands
  18. tamiya sux for sure, traxxas also suck but for different reasons. In my limited (because I now change them asap) experience they get loose. As above you can't go wrong with xt 30/60/90 connectors, ec3 and ec5 are also decent (they are very similar and the females actually connect to male xt and spectrum connectors). Although outdated nowadays I still have deans on my 2s stuff because they are stuck in the past so all my old 2s packs ended up being deans and so did the trucks. Deans is definitely fine for 2s/nimh setups and imho easier to solder than the other "bullet" type connectors if soldering skill is an issue 😄
  19. HAHA I also see moustache but more along the lines of Chinese dragon
  20. afhds, afhds 2a and afhds ANT - are 3 different protocols...gt5 supports afhds and/or afhds 2a - not ANT Yours seems to be specifically the 2a variant Oh and the actual antenna is literally just the last 32~ mm of the wire, the unshielded part - depending on the range you want to drive you may not even need to have that poking out of the rx box - worst case, 35mm antenna tube mounted under the shell vertically for best results...pointing up or down 🙂
  21. Not really done much in the way of 3D design before other than some simple bits and bobs as there’s usually a free file available somewhere but the outcast gave me the perfect opportunity…took a while but roof and bonnet skids designed from scratch. I’m happy with them - a few refinements to do before I print the next set after these get eaten away but all in all the shell should last a while longer now - yay 👍🏻
  22. @Grogg I can’t seem to find any gt5’s that are compatible with the ant protocol, they all seem to just be flysky afhds or afhds 2a - seems it’s the g7p transmitter that supports the ant so you most likely can’t use that rx you linked unfortunately.
  23. What the actual flipflop - that is totally not a fun fact. Eh…but what…huh…how…umm nooooo…but cmon….for realsies? Say what now? You…what…hmmm. I’m so confused. I don’t know if I should just feel bad for you or ask for your address to have one delivered to you 😁😁
  24. Could consider buying used. I find the old complete strip clean and rebuild can be as much fun as building a kit 🙂
  25. No, no it’s not. As you just proved in amongst the backtracking “I said a charge lead” waffle. Good one 👍🏻
