Worked on some more home made parts for my Losi SBR 2.0.

 

First up a thin aluminium front splashguard/bulkhead which I have painted in black satin to match the truck a little better. 

 

I then made some rear mudguards with mudflaps for the rear (made the fronts last week).

Rebuilding it just because I don't like passing on RC cars with Easter eggs as I've got too many of them over the course of time...almost ready for its new owner 😞

 

So far fully stripped any iffy screws condemned and binned. All diffs inspected and freshly oiled, general clean up and grease applied where needed, same with thread lock...

I'm still rebuilding...

 

So I've always braced my motors with hot glue, it just seemed like a good idea to me to transfer the impact into the chassis rather than the motor becoming loose and potentially damaging the spur/pinion/more worrying losing brakes and hitting someone or something...

 

I then got a losi conversion kit and found out its standard for them...if it's good enough for Losi/TLR it's good enough for me. Hence the hot glue under the motor...

 

 

 

@Andy20xe as you can tell I'm enjoying rebuilding this and having fun...just needs dog bones, servo tray and servo and job done. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. 

 

The hot glue doesn't adhere to metal well as this surface isn't porous and I didn't do a chemical degrease, so I've applied it into a mould essentially then used a thin layer of CA glue to hold it in place, that way if you need to service it, a tap or two should take it right off ...

Painted the bed. Lowered it. And cut body down a bit more. Think this is almost sorted now. Winch coming Tuesday for it. Some decals in the post for it. And my mates fingers crossed almost sorted the prints for me

Today I attached my controversial mini gps to my FTX Tracer and gave it a few runs.

 

Once it has acquired the signal it seems pretty responsive.

Okayyy, I'm sure everyone's sick of me posting these updates 😂 but final one, promise (at least for the Hyper 7 that's just been sold!) 

 

Finally done.

 

Fear not @Andy20xe, I am including wheels and some spares (pretty much a whole innards of a diff and other random Hyper 7 bits) and some sacrificial wheels to get you running, please be careful as there's every chance these cheap wheels will disintegrate - these came with my H7 TQ I shredded a set on 6S in seconds and never bothered to run this set. 

 

 

@Ant.p Mrs keeps asking me where I'm getting this new influence in terms of music from, you're in trouble, she'll probs lace your slice of cake next time 😁

175mph? Get this man a Rossa record title 😎

 

I have to say that's a pretty FTX model, I've got a mate who races Agama, Kyosho, Losi etc...to then hear he got his kid one of these and was praising the FTX tracer a lot and said it's a truggy that handles very well...surprised me to say the least.

tbf that was tied to the back of a neighbours car when they heard the local garage had petrol 🤣 

 

The Tracer is amazing fun. I've taken it off ramps, hit kerbs, flipped it, cartwheeled it down the bank of Brooklands track and even accidentally drove it into a river, nothing broken,  had tons of fun and have no qualms handing off to my younguns or any one taking an interest  ...all for £60 from my LHS. (Although they still haven't managed a commission for sending others in to buy one lol)

 

Just in case anyone actually thinks I believe my Tracer did 175mph I feel I should clarify that it is 17.5mph 🤣

Fitted some new Vitavon hardened steel outdrives to the front and rear diffs, also used some of the upgrade Losi LOSB3569 10t diff hardware (supposed to be stronger better than the standard), rebuilt the front with 100w diff fluid and the rear with 60w, also have the parts for the Center, but will have to do that another time.

Popped out to IKEA to buy a few more  shelves to reorganise my trucks, these are really  handy as we are short on space and  super cheap too.  

 

For reference the cars are 1/18, 1/16, 1/18, 1/14 top to bottom

Added a cheap as possible roll bars to the bed. And might add some lights.  So how had it will stay basic for 5 minutes. Congratulations bingo.

Put a heart in the Yeti, castle combo i wanted to use would have required cutting parts, so used the 550l 3300kv axe system from the trx4 to get it on the road, shifts well enough on 2s.

Servo was a right 🧠 as needs to be pulled right back inwards and only 50% throw for full steering, but very clean and handles lovely.

Then threw on some lights n bits for a crawl this evening.

Tamiya Rising Fighter arrived today so it's just an unboxing. The busted Maverick Quantum is being  stripped for parts and radio gear transfered to the Tamiya which I'm hoping will be a bit more manageable for my daughter and less prone to breakage which has really dented her confidence.
