  1. Hi all, I just noticed the new FTX Carnage 2.0 Brushless is out now. Does anyone know if they've made any improvements to it? I noticed the ESC is an update version but the motor looks the same. The transmitter is new but have there been any other improvements? Is the Spur gear now sealed or is that still prone to debris? https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/ftx-carnage-20-brushless-rtr-monster-truck-1355104 Thanks,
  2. Hi. Noob question… my son has an FTX comet Buggy. It’s great but the supplied USB battery charger kills the batteries (4 now). I’ve been told a decent charger like the IMAX B6 will do a better job, but it doesn’t have the right connectors, and I can’t find an adapter lead (the battery uses a 3 pin JST for the charging connection, and mini Tamiya for battery>car). Our local RC shop don’t have any JST adapters can anyone recommend a charger and adapter lead? or just recommend batteries with a more common connector other than JST? Battery is https://wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/307156/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpbulvM7DgQMVj9_tCh2-BQ10EAQYBCABEgLs6vD_BwE Car is https://www.emodels.co.uk/new-products1/ftx-comet-1-12-brushed-2wd-rtr-desert-cage-buggy-5516.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9uints7DgQMVe4hQBh2_BQCcEAQYAyABEgLUbvD_BwE appreciate any advice

Thanks for any help

  5. Hello, I've just bought a new FTX Mauler as my 1st crawler. I've read online and watched various videos YouTube, and from what I can see is this is a great crawler straight out the box. Just looking to find out what upgrades are a must for the near future. Ideally to improve the car and increase the reliability. I'm fairly new to RC cars so I don't fully understand all the technical terms and what the purpose is of all the parts. So if I can have as much info as possible and links to upgrade parts would be fantastic. Thank you
  6. A space for any questions, tips, tricks, mods and upgrades about the FTX Outlaw. I want to hear any mods or upgrades about this car and would love to share mine. Anyone can participate in this conversation. No questions are dumb and ask heaps. I do not know a lot so this is why I am creating this. Feel free to share your rig and what you have done to it. Also, the no no's of the Outlaw and what not to get. Hope this is helpful.

  8. Hi, I bought this on the premise that the diffs were all borked, they were totally fine and the grub screws were loose on the pinion gear and center shaft. I do have a couple of new diffs which I had purchased before inspecting myself so will include them for longevity purposes. This has had a steel pinion gear added to it. Price £110 delivered with diffs, or £90 without diffs. Knock off £10 for collection from West London. Just to confirm, this runs flawlessly and I can provide videos of such. No lipo or lipo charger included. Stock remote included with 8 new duracell batteries! Swaps: - I'd take a Losi 8ight 2.0 nitro to electric conversion kit (or straight up send me one of these https://www.makeitbuildit.co.uk/losi-8ight-electric-conversion-kit-hardware-package-losia0912-35390 + £10 for postage and we have a deal) you buying me the Losi conversion kit means you can choose how to do payment yourself, e.g. paypay, Klarna, magic beans, etc)
  9. 🐺OPERATION WOLF 🐺 Hi all, so I got sick of the stock look of the outback mini in red so thought I’d try make it look like the old landrover wolf (old Army Defenders) so far I’ve took the bumper off and move the head lights into the shell to make it look like real lights, chopped the back off and fitted just the back of the cage on, moved the spare wheel to the bonnet, make the shell sit slightly higher, and also fitted clear windows. It is still a working progress as I’m wanting to paint the full shell army green, wanting to fit some fabric over the cage, maybe add beadlocks and some nice bigger / wider tyres if possible. All suggestions will be appreciated. hope you like 😊
  10. Hi everyone! As mentioned in my introduction, I'm new to all things RC and have purchased a FTX Outlaw (Brushed), for my son's 8th birthday. We had a great hour or so out in the back garden and on the tarmac driveway, getting used to the car and marvelling at it's speed, my son was absolutely delighted with the car and quickly got the hang of the basics. He surprised me on how well he caught on to feathering the throttle to keep the car stable on tight turns, we had a blast. It did take a hard knock to the front bumper a few times, once by my over enthusiastic driving and several times by one of his school friends who had happened to pop by, she seemed hell bent on driving it into the kerb at full throttle despite me telling her to be gentle with the trigger. The third time she did it, the bumper fell off, ending our fun for the day. That's our first lesson learnt, don't let people who have no intention of being careful anywhere near it in the future. So the upshot is a broken bumper and a broken chassis plate (sheared at the screw holes), luckily I had spent some time explaining to my son that it's the nature of this hobby that things will break from time to time and its all part of the fun to repair them, so he took it all in his stride. I've done a temporary fix which will work fine for the time being and after some considerable effort of searching I finally found a retailer with the bumper parts in stock, so they should be with us in a couple of days. Everyone seems to be expecting FTX spares stock in May - has there been some supply chain problems? I think I would probably have been a lot more careful if I had known beforehand how rare parts seem to be at the moment. I will upgrade the chassis plate to aluminium asap as the positioning of the screw holes are really close to the edge and although my son's psychotic friend didn't help matters, it looks like that area is generally very weak. Is there any reason to consider the carbon version other than 'bling'? It would be great to hear from fellow Outlaw owners on any tips and upgrade recommendations. Enjoy the weekend everyone! Rhys (49) and Owain (8)
  11. Hi, Firstly I'm very new to the crawling world (approx 2 months in) so apologies for my lack of knowledge. I have an FTX outback ranger 2.0 (pic attached for info) which was intended as an entry level crawler, which I have modded only on the shell. Short story is that it's now my son's as I already have my sights set on another vehicle. However, I'm pretty sure the 2-in1 ESC receiver is toast due to taking it through water which was too deep and not taking steps straight after to remove ESC and dry etc. I've tried all the drying techniques so resigned to buying a new ESC. I've quickly found out that the standard ESC/receiver is out of stock everywhere for at least a month but I'm keen to get it working ASAP for my son. I'm also not ruling out upgrading the ESC somewhat to allow some modest upgrades for my son (such as drag brake which the standard rig does not have) as well as allow for some future upgrades (like a bigger motor). I have been eyeballing some hobbywing ESCs like the 1060 (based on someone mentioned them) plus a dumbo RC X6 transmitter/receiver. I've been running round in circles trying to figure out if these components will fit, what else I need to buy to make the setup work as well as a basic guide on how it all fits together as because my existing ESC was a 2-in1 it is not clear to me how the ESC, receiver and servo all plug together as the the 2in1 was kind of doing it all for me. Have looked everywhere but I can't seem to find a definitive answer. If it helps I think the standard motor is a 370/390 and the servo is a 3.5Kg. Any help anyone can give me is greatly appreciated and apologies in advance if I have broken any kind of house rules in how and what I have posted. Regards, Lee.
  12. Hi! Im getting an electric version of the ftx zorro as my next car and I was wondering if there were any recommendations on if there were any other tyre/wheel branded sets that fit this model? Would like to get some variations if possible! Feel free to reccomend different sets for other cars too! Just make sure to mention what car they do and/or dont fit!
  13. Hi, First time poster and complete newbie here. Just ordered my little lad (10 yo) an FTX Outlaw brushed for Xmas as he’s been wanting a decent RC car for a while. Completely new to this but based on what he wants (looks, speed etc) and what he wants it to do I settled on the brushed Outlaw as it looked like a decent spec for the money we wanted to spend. I’m already thinking about battery life and upgrades and thinking about buying an additional battery in anticipation. I’ve had a quick look and it seems like Lipo is the way to go but being a complete novice not sure if it’ll just be plug and play or if there’s something else I need to think about. Any hints, tips or suggestions (product wise or otherwise) would be great. Thanks in advance 👍🏼
  14. I'm at my wits end again! Spent 2 hours today trying to calibrate my esc and throttle control ad my car was going out of whack. It's no use following instructions as they're wrong. Are there any FTX owners out ther who can talk me through the process, one that actually works? I've done it before but now I'm putting it down to sheer luck. I can o ly ever manage to get one direction sorted and then when the car is on the ground it shudders and wont drive. My take on calibration is: Esc on with set button pressed Then pull full throttle til 1 beep let go Push to full reverse until 2nd beep let go Leave in neutral for 3rd beep Switch off esc I've done this and a ton of variations and it still wont calibrate. All components working fine and the esc is relatively new. Can anyone help?
  15. Hey guys! Time to part ways with my FTX Outlaw to move to another project, this car is super fun for bashing, but I'm moving into drift cars again. This is the brushless version and has some considerable updates made in last months - listed below. - Aluminium Chassis ( a bit scratched from use) - Aluminium rear trailing arms - Front guard protection - Custom boddyshell - Both diff replaced - Rear Axle replaced because one was a bit wobbly - New Hobbywing ESC 120A - Turnigy motor 3520KV Brushless - I'll put in some replacement parts that I had here sitting in case something broke all the pieces are FTX branded * Spur Gear *17T unused pinion gear - Shocks have been serviced with new RC core 400W silicon weight - Original Transmitter and receiver Also in the pack will follow the old Turnigy 80A ESC with the programming card that I replaced because it was cogging a bit. This is RTR but it will go without batteries, to be aware it still cogs a bit with the new ESC but if you are looking to bash around in parks or jumps this will perform crazy on 2S lipos, I was told that with 3S would solve this but I don't have any to prove it, this is a classic issue for non sensored motors The rims have been painted and are flaking a bit but they are ok, same for the tires are used but still can take a good beating. See all the pics below and feel free to PM if you have any questions, I'm looking to sell it as a lot. Price - £200 + postage
  16. Hi, My Etronix 2950kv brushless motor doesn't work properly when running forwards. It turns but when you let go of accelerate it immediately stops with a forceful motion, rather than spin freely and come to a stop. Reverse works fine. But when I test forwards it's not responding correctly the speed goes from zero to full speed and when you stop the force of the stop then sends the car rolling backwards. Any idea what's going on? I recently changed the ESC as that fried. Also had to change the spur gear as it got damaged due to trapped grit. I've recalibrated the ESC but somethings up as the motor doesnt respond properly to forward input. I'm new to RC and dont have any further ideas as to what's up. I hope the motors not broken in some way any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Marty
  17. I’m new to this but need some help. Bought FTX Carnage for my son. All working well then suddenly stopped driving. Read on forums that’s it’s probably the ESC. So changed that (replaced like for like). Still the same problem. Steering works. No beeps (‘do re me’ as they call it in the manual) from ESC on start up. No power to wheels. Its a brushed version. NiMH batteries. FTX6557W ESC. Motor works fine with power supplied separately. RX flashes when accelerator trigger pulled on TX. So, binded ok I think. No smoke or smell or burning or anything like that. Checked connections and all seems ok to my eyes. Please help. It’s as dusty as hell out there and my son wants to kick a ton of it up!!
  18. Hey guys! I'm having a bit of an issue with my Outlaw - it is cogging when its on the ground I have checked the spur and pinion to see if they where meshing correctly and it seems to be I used the paper trick and it looks ok - While in the bench without any contact with the ground accelerates forward and back without any issue, when on the ground it makes a sound that it's slipping/cogging. I've tried to read several topics around this but theres never any answer - I have a turnigy 2s Lipo 5000MH brand new this is running a turnigy Motor/ESC 3250KV, 80A, I tried a lot of options to no solution I have ordered a new spur gear and a pinion just in case. Spur Gear 62T and Pinion 17T these are the original ones that come with the brushless motor. I've tested the motor on it's own and all the connections and theres no loss in continuity and it works fine - I'm a bit lost here on what to potentially do next to have the car fine. Thanks in advance guys!
  19. Hello, I am try to upgrade my little lads Comet truggy to brushless but am struggling to source a metal pinion. The ftx pinion are out of stock on all websites and in was wondering if anyone could recommend an alternative to the ftx pinion. Many thanks Simon
  20. Hi, does anyone have any information about a spur gear upgrade for the ftx outlaw? I have had the car for about 4 weeks and I’m on my 3rd already!! 😩😩 cheers!
  21. Does anyone know if the drag brake is adjustable on a stock FTX Mauler?
  22. Hello, My little lad has an FTX Comet truggy which is a great car for him. Whilst the chassis seems unbreakable the shell is very thin and he has quickly destroyed it. Can anyone recommend an alternative which is a bit stronger. Happy to convert it to a different comet version is required. Many thanks Simon
  23. Was really exited to get this in the post today....it ain't right, not sure of the exact issue but take a look for yourself. Send it straight back or is it an easy fix. Thanks. Andy.
