  1. I have the manual...but it doesn't say how to adjust it, so I'm guessing it's not adjustable. Its currently on and very harsh..was hoping to reduce it abit...
  2. Does anyone know if the drag brake is adjustable on a stock FTX Mauler?
  3. Which of the 2 motors that I linked to would be best?
  4. I managed to find out the stock motors are 20T. Would any of these be a good upgrade? https://www.modelsport.co.uk/axial-e-motor-35t-brushed/rc-car-products/397100 https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=366354 Also would this be a good replacement for the receiver? https://www.modelsport.co.uk/etronix-esr-1-sport-2-4ghz-waterproof-receiver/rc-car-products/385126 I did read somewhere that the steering servos are slow on these...would this be a good upgrade? https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=433048 Thanks
  5. Ah ok, that makes sense. So what does the mauler have as standard? I know it has a RC540 brushed but it doesn't say how many turns. I've seen some with 45t/55t...would they be no good? Sorry for so many questions...
  6. Will do thanks, What's the difference in the 28t to the 35t. I know it's the amount of turns the motor does...but is it better to be higher or lower?
  7. Nice one, Can you suggest which ones are decent please? Possibly with links? Thank you
  8. Hello, I've just bought a new FTX Mauler as my 1st crawler. I've read online and watched various videos YouTube, and from what I can see is this is a great crawler straight out the box. Just looking to find out what upgrades are a must for the near future. Ideally to improve the car and increase the reliability. I'm fairly new to RC cars so I don't fully understand all the technical terms and what the purpose is of all the parts. So if I can have as much info as possible and links to upgrade parts would be fantastic. Thank you
  9. Thanks for the replies! ?? Firstly I'm based in Didcot, Oxfordshire. I checked the carb settings to the factory spec for breaking in, which they were correct. Although I have read that they can vary a fair amount so it's a possibility. It was a brand new plug but I possibly could have killed it already as I have been leaving the glow start on for a while...I didn't realise it would kill it. Is there an easy way to tell if I've killed it?What plug would be best to buy? I've no idea!! I've made sure the glow start battery is charged. When I originally tried to prime it via blocking the exhaust and pulling the pull start I really struggled with it. It didn't seem it be pulling fuel through very well. But then I noticed it was leaking fuel at a fitting in the fuel line. I tightened this up by hand and I'm sure it's not leaking from there anymore. I then discovered that I can blow through the pipe from the exhaust to prime and that worked a treat. And I didn't notice anymore leaks as I was doing so. I'm pretty sure I keep flooding it as I keep trying to start it. The pull start does go hard to pull after a while of trying/when its started and stalled. I do then take the plug out and use the pull start to push and fuel out the top. I do get abit out the top but not much. But I haven't noticed any fuel coming out the exhaust. When I have managed to get it started, its cut out before I've had a change to blip the throttle, or remove the glow start. What settings would you recommend me trying to use to get it started without flooding it? Thanks
  10. Hi guys, New member and 1st post here, I'm hoping you can help me.... Recently bought my 1st nitro rc car Following all the instructions...the hsn, lsn and idle gap set at factory spec for breaking in. I've been trying for a couple of hours each day for 3 days now to get it to start. I've had it started about 4 times. As soon as it starts up, it cuts out after 5 seconds, then I can't get it restarted. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I read another post from the forum about it from a few years ago followed those tips and adjuster the hsn and lsn but still no luck. I'm warming the engine to around 45/50°c with a hairdryer. And fuel is definitely getting to the carburetor. I primed it via blowing down the pipe from the exhaust. I went to my nearest model shop but it's about 30mins away and they didn't have a nitro guy there at the time.... Starting to get quite frustrated as I know once these are run in they are easy to start apparently. I called and asked at modelsport (where I bought the car from) if an electric start would be better (thinking this would be easier) but these engines are not compatible with them as it has the hyper cops pullstart. Thanks
