I am a returning muddler. I used to race 1:12 scale electric cars 40+ years ago. My race car was a Kyosho fwd Porsche. I was never the fastest but I was pretty consistent so was 7th in the club driver table. Remember this was when a good electric racer had a flat GRP plate chassis with beam axles front and rear - Ni-cad batteries and 540 can motors worlds away from the cars today. I have in store a Tamiya Cheetah my first off-road road basher, torsion bars have died but it is still a nice looking model even though it has seen some serious off-road use. I also have the remains of a Tamiya Beland B2b Combination unit made by Tamiya and had a good turn of speed even with its 360 motor and mechanical speed controller. I have now kicked back into the delights RC fun with hardshell Models from WPL and CXD amongst others. These models are so affordable as cheque book entertainments but definitely need somewhere better suited to their needs. I'm too old to be up to racing the latest fast electrics but I would like to meet others who might enjoy running their hardshell models with standard electrics in a suitable venue. Perhaps learning to drift or auto-test our models in a supportive atmosphere. I also have access to 2.5 ha of amenity woodland so can provide some trail style off-roading suited to the 1:16 hardshell models be they wheeled or tracked. This should be more forgiving than sliding down hard rock surfaces - although it can be very soft underfoot in a few places and flooded in others during the winter. If you live in the Newton Abbot area and would be interested in joining a casual group of like minded muddlers please get in touch and hopefully we can find a suitable venue for our needs.

Good afternoon everyone, Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. Hi, I’m Dan Im Relatively new to the RC hobby in general. However I’m brand new to club racing, I’ve Literally had my first club night a few weeks ago. Before that I have just been a driveway basher. My current set up is a Tamiya TA07 for indoor club racing. But I also have TT02D, TT02R and a Carisma sca-1e Lwb. so yeah that’s me 🙂. Looking forward to getting to know you all in the next few weeks. Have a nice day 👍

Hi, apologies if this isn’t the right place to post questions. I have a Ripmax Husky which runs great. Very fast and responsive. However after about 5 minutes it stops working properly, and will only move an inch forward before emitting three beeps. I assumed this meant the battery was flat - but if you pick up the car, pressing the throttle makes the wheels spin as though it still has full power. I’ve tried re-pairing the controller but this doesn’t make any difference. My battery is only 1300mAh, which is less powerful than others. Also the “straw” holding the antenna broke ages ago, but this doesn’t seem to affect performance. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hello. So I am kind of new to this hobby, had a nitro car when I was younger and had great fun but got too busy with life to continue it. Now I have had a bit of time I decided to try to rebuild my old car. It hasn't ran in 10 years so I completely stripped the engine and cleaned and re oiled it. I just tried starting it for the first time and it was going fine, sat at idle for about 5 mins then all of a sudden the revs started to increase, I tried to stop it by blocking the exhaust but the revs just kept climbing, the car couldn't be stopped I just had to wait for it to run out of fuel. In a car I think this is called a runaway. When this had finished the engine just sat smoking from all of the heat build up. My question is what could cause this and how to I avoid it again? Fortunately it had no wheels so didn't go crashing through my fence. Sorry if this sounds stupid.

Hi all I'm looking for some advise on my 1st hobby grade rc car. I'm looking for something cheap (around the £60 mark) and something that can do a bit of everything, bashing, on road, off road, small obstacles and probably a lot of crashing. I have a image in my head of me and my 2 year daughter making jumps and courses in the back garden which will hopefully come true. I seen lots of reviews on the 12428 which looks perfect for what I want but I've also seen that there's a 12429 at the same price, does anyone know how they compare? Does anybody have any other suggestions? Also worth pointing out that I'm looking forward to upgrading the truck overtime so I'm OK with the shocks needing to be upgraded out of the box and then additional things in the future Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey all! I've had the 1st edition E Revo Brushless 1/10 for some years now, but not used it much as life can just get in the way. Until now! Lockdown was a great excuse to get back in the game, and now I'm all in. I'm now looking at hop ups so I'm here for support and contacts to help me go aluminium. If anyone can recommend good sites to help me do this it would be greatly appreciated. Hope you're all safe and well! Thanks for reading. Mark

Hi All Just signed up on here and looking forward to gaining some sage advice about rc cars etc. I am very new to the hobby and really am finding it addictive, I seem to be spending lots of time on YouTube viewing the reviews and getting advice and tips on there. I seem to be more into rock crawlers than speed daemons but interested in all aspects of rc, I know that I have lots to learn and feel this is a great place to start. Looking forward to connecting with the community.

Hi Everyone, I am completely new to this and want to purchase an RC Truck at some point over the next couple of weeks, but I after spending a whole weekend watching tons of youtube video's, comparing chinese vs other models, I am getting more confused, so I will appreciate your help. A couple of pointers; - This is for me and my 9 year old son to play with - Terrain; grass, gravel, offroad only, would pebble beach destroy it (we live in Eastbourne and we go on the beach really often)? - We have an old overgrown minigolf field with lots of ramps nearby where we have seen many RC car performing awesome jumps (I want some of that if possible) - Budget is tight at £200. I could potentially go £100 up, but have to bear in mind that I have 0 gear at present, so I will need to get a charger etc. - Speed is fun in my opinion, but I realise that my budget isn't high enough. - Not planning to use it in the rain, so waterproof is not important. - Don't mind if second hand, as I should get better value for money - I think electric is the way to go, but I am open to advice. - Brushless possible at this budget point? Hopefully that gives you an idea about what I am trying to achieve. Any advice is welcome. Thanks all, Dan

Hi everyone So im reliving my youth and bought myself a Super Clodbuster but its been a while since i bought any RC parts so i dont have a clue what to get for the extra bits i need. I believe i need a "Radio control system, high torque steering servo, battery pack, charger and paint." Ive been looking at websites etc and i cant make out what is best and im lost by some of the terminology so im looking for some advice. - I think having numerous 3300 mah batteries is best for weight and charging time. Not sure about brand. Is there any difference? - Id like a fast charger but hear constant fast charging reduces the life of batteries so think i need a charger that can do both seen this one Fusion Vector Nx86. - And a good responsive servo and control system. Cant work out what i need!! - Good solid controller. Saw this which i thought sounds ok Core RC FHSS 3 channel. Thought 3 for apare for lights etc - Are there any special tools needed for kits? - How much paint is needed? Thank you. All help is extremely appreciate!

Just a quick hello from myself, finding a lot of time on my hands these days now that I'm working from home so I'm in the process of deciding what new toy I need to treat myself to. I used to race RC buggies a very long time ago at a brilliant club in Macclesfield - Macctrak, before it burned down with my Schumacher Top Cat & Kyosho Optima Mid. Seems that things have moved on in the last 20 years so I'm well out of touch! I'm looking at a few different nitro buggy's; HPI Trophy, Kyosho Inferno Neo or HoBao Hyper 7 but if I'm honest, I've not a clue what the differences are or which is the best. I'm also looking at the FTX Carnage for my 8yo son to start with. Any advice is appreciated, its difficult to buy without talking to the experts in the shop, gutted that Modelsport is currently closed without telephone support as I'd give them a call to discuss the various options open to me, I'll probably have to wait for the shops to open so I can pop down there & get some face to face advice.

Hey there. I have played with normal RC cars since i was a boy and want to now get into it a little more and buy my first proper electric on road RC car. I have been looking at different and makes, concluding that i would like to get a Tamiya 1/10th Electric car but need advice on which one. I want something that is powerful and easy to maintain but that i can start upgrading and tinkering with once i advance with this particular hobby. I have been looking at the M05 mini cooper and the TT01 - i love the mini and do have an old mini shell i painted which would be nice to use, but i wanted to see if anyone with a bit of knowledge has any advice on the matter? My budget at the moment is around £200. Any advice would be appreciated

Hi there, please forgive me as i am an amateur who is just getting in to the self built RC scene. I have had a look around and cant seem to find what i'm after. To start i thought i would make a simple Zagi. I did a bit of research and have the following equipment 1. Dx5e controller and AR600 receiver 2. two standard servos 3. 3000kv brushless motor 4. 30a ESC for aeroplanes ( according to site details ) 5. 2800mah LiPo battery My issue is this: i have plugged it all in following the instructions and although the servos respond correctly to signals sent from the controller, the motor instantly starts spinning as soon as the battery is connected. If i raise my throttle stick it will spin faster but will never stop spinning. What is it that i am doing wrong ? i would like to be able to vary the speed and have it stop completely in order to allow for slope soaring. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated
