Hi all, Not sure if this fits here or is of interest or even if this is the best forum, but I'll give it a go. The main reason I wanted to document this is because there is so little out there about custom 1/14 trucks. I'll hopefully explain what I am doing and where I got the bits and pieces from. I have decided to convert the Tamiya Log truck to a 10x4 Tag Tridem. Using the kit as a basis, I'll be adding lots of features and lights and sound to make a unique model. As you can see, I have made a start on the chassis. I began by obtaining a set of 1m long Carson Frames. Using the stock Tamiya frame as a template, I used an automatic centre punch to punch a witness mark through one of the 3mm screw holes, in the correct place on the new frame rail. I drilled this to 2.5mm on the new frame, and then using a 3mm taper tap, created the thread. Having done this, I could now screw the Tamiya frame to the Carson frame, and drill or punch the remaining holes. I repeated the process onto the other Carson frame, using the other (drilled) Carson frame. This ensured that both custom frames were identical. I built up the front twin steering axles using kit parts, an additional Tamiya suspension set, and Lesu Q-9051 for the front axle, and Lesu Q-9052 for the 2nd steering axle. The difference between these two is that 9051 has a tilted king pin centre line, whereas 9052 is vertical. This means the wheels tilt when turned, in a realistic manner. Additionally the Lesu units allow for much more lock than standard Tamiya Euro steering setups. I have also used captive rod ends to reduce side play on the steering rods. I'll be using Lesu G-6020 for the twin steer mechanism. I built up the rear wheels as per Tamiya, however I'll be replacing the differentials with lockable versions, as well as the suspension arms with aluminium arms. I'm using Lesu W-2052 Volvo rear wheels with their S-1213 off road 22mm tyres. For the tag wheel, I'll use a super single. Anyway hope you like it, there should be lots more to come. Cheers Tom

I got this for my 40th birthday last week. Haven’t built an RC for many years so I’m basically starting again. Looking forward to building this and using it then we’ll see what’s next.

I got a tamiya lunchbox kit a while ago and i love it however i would like to make it faster and nipier, to my understanding a brushless motor would acheive this. If so my lucnhbox seems to have been shipped with a brushless ESC and i was wondering what sort of motor i need, i know it needs to be a 540 to fit but with the power aspect, would i also need a new battery as i just have the tornado 2000 battery pack wich i dont beleive is a lipo and yet again i beleive a lipo should give me more power if so is there any suggestions for reasonable batteries or motors any help would be greatly appreciated

Hey all, Does anyone know if these adapters are ok to use? (Etronix Tamiya to Deans adapter) https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/39232?gclid=CjwKCAiAjPyfBhBMEiwAB2CCItVPTsG8GopR9bdfRjCFQ1027QAdzocz7xR1K67Cu9-OXmGieaLjgRoC5DUQAvD_BwE I don't really fancy the idea of cutting off the Tamiya adapter on my ESC and soldering on a Deans plug. This seems like a simple alternative. I just wanted to check if anyone has run into any problems with using these? Thanks

After a bit of a break from rc the lockdown prompted me get my cc01 and lunchbox out and get them running again. This didn't occupy me for long enough and I had the itch to build something. I've got a couple of m chassis cars and it didn't take long for me to settle in the MF01x beetle. Ordered the kit with a set of bearings and a servo and as soon as it arrived I got to work. I'm going with what I thought was the box art colour scheme so ordered some black and red paint. However the manual says black and orange. Nevermind, mine will be black and red. I'll add more photos when the body is done. There's not much talk of the MF01x on here so if anyone has any questions ask away. Cheers

Hi, decided to thin out my collection of body shells. some new some used, still all very usable. happy to take more detailed pic if required. some a little dusty from storage, I’ll wipe them down before packing, which leads me to remind you the postage costs, some of these a proper bulky and will require a fair sized box. alternatively, I’m willing to meet up within reasonable distance at cost of fuel. First up, Rc4wd mojave cab suitable for a caged rear, built up with all the wipers/mirrors and a set of lights, bought all new and then the project didn’t happen. Worth noting that the front as also been modded for a more aggressive look. looking for £50 posted recorded and inc. fees. TRADED/SOLD Traxxas Trx4 Tactical unit, urban camouflage, brand new, was built up with all the parts but now all removed, it’s the bare shell only. looking for £40 posted recorded and inc. fees. Next we have this Proline Baja Bug shell, brand fire new in pack with all decals, masks etc. suitable for 1/8th trucks and truggies. looking for £40 posted recorded and inc. fees. (guessing) Kamtec Reliant Robin shell, new in pack with little roof no. thing. looking for £10.54 posted recorded and inc. fees. now we come to the Tamiya shells, Tamiya dynahead 6x6 body, been painted nicely with some of the supplied decals and some various others the add to the look, strengthened inside with alloy foil tape. looking for £25 posted recorded and inc fees. Tamiya Wild one lexan shell and driver base, newly painted to box art, strengthened again with alloy foil tape, new and never fitted (I replaced with the fav parts to create a hard body set) looking for £15 posted recorded and inc fees. Next we have 3 shells to suit the Tamiya m-chassis vehicles. Rover mini shell, been painted the start of paint removal, please note NO cracks or splits, with a little time and effort this could look like a well sorted mini. looking for £25 posted recorded and inc fees. (Cheap considering how rare these are becoming) Tamiya Citroen 2cv shell, newly painted with copper looking rust coming through, still has window masks fitted, again bare shell as I never had the extras. looking for £25 posted recorded and inc fees. Hpi true 10? BMW 2002, had some use, there is a visible crack on the rear quarter and a small crack near the front splitter, has been reinforced inside though and is solid, perfect for a basher. looking for £10.54 posted recorded and inc fees or free if purchased with the other two. Last off for now is my old drift shell, has working lights, alloy front intercooler, carbon fibre bonnet. this I believe is the s12 “rocket bunny”, has had body holes made but currently covered as per pics. my plan was to display this but I’m not paying silly money for a 1/10 roller. paint is really nice with a rainbow flake black roof, it’s a proper stunner. I also have the matching Hpi wheels with road tyres if needed for a extra £20 again, as new. looking for £50 posted recorded and inc fees. (If this doesn’t fetch the asking price, I’m happy to put this back in the loft). TRADED/SOLD as always, thanks for taking the time to look. the prices are not set in stone but please let’s not have any silly offers…. also willing to trade, looking for a hobbywing max10 120a esc, Savox 1256tg (or similar) servos or give me a shout you never know until you ask lol. cheers Gaz.
