  1. Hi. Noob question… my son has an FTX comet Buggy. It’s great but the supplied USB battery charger kills the batteries (4 now). I’ve been told a decent charger like the IMAX B6 will do a better job, but it doesn’t have the right connectors, and I can’t find an adapter lead (the battery uses a 3 pin JST for the charging connection, and mini Tamiya for battery>car). Our local RC shop don’t have any JST adapters can anyone recommend a charger and adapter lead? or just recommend batteries with a more common connector other than JST? Battery is https://wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/307156/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpbulvM7DgQMVj9_tCh2-BQ10EAQYBCABEgLs6vD_BwE Car is https://www.emodels.co.uk/new-products1/ftx-comet-1-12-brushed-2wd-rtr-desert-cage-buggy-5516.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9uints7DgQMVe4hQBh2_BQCcEAQYAyABEgLUbvD_BwE appreciate any advice
  2. I have bought this thinking that it would fit in the battery box of my 1/8 nitro and it didn't fit. I'm selling for £12 posted
  3. I am pretty sure this is me and not the battery but I am charging a 5100mah NiMh battery with the SkyRc T200. I keep getting timeouts on this battery. My 3000 and 1800mah batteries charge fine in respective amperage. I am using NiMh auto charge and using a cautious 4.8a charge setting. Nearly every, but not all charges I have to charge a second time to get a proper charge due to it timing out. Is it just I need to up the amperage (I thought you could go as low as you wanted it just takes longer) or is it suggesting something “off” with the battery? Thanks
  4. Put wife nihm battery on charge my charger said it was fully charged but showed 9.5v I haven't used a nihm in at least 2 years does this sound norm to nihm users, 3000mah 7.2v 6 cell pack was charging at 2.5amps to make sure it wasn't over charging
  5. I'm looking at TRX-4 Sport if it is any good. Regarding a 3rd party battery & charger for it, is there such one? I was reading about Traxxas's own iD connector and it doesn't say anything about 3rd party batteries with old TRX plug that would work TRX-4 sport? I already have a charger but it seems a bit wasteful to get a new Traxxas charger and a Traxxas battery, just for use with its own cars & trucks.
  6. Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here so I apologise if I’m breaking any rules here. I’ve had an ECX Torment for some time and as you may all know it’s some beginner stuff. But recently I’ve been noticing losses in power, I can flip the car upside down and hold the throttle so the car goes full speed but once I put it on its wheels and press the throttle, pretty much nothing happens. It seems like the car isn’t supporting its own weight? Idk what to do here. Thanks in advance!! TLDR: wheels spin fast when car is upside down/throttle pushed all the way. loss of power once the car is turned back up. Attached is a video of the car in full throttle when upside down. wheelspin.mp4 wheelspin.mov
  7. Hi, apologies if this isn’t the right place to post questions. I have a Ripmax Husky which runs great. Very fast and responsive. However after about 5 minutes it stops working properly, and will only move an inch forward before emitting three beeps. I assumed this meant the battery was flat - but if you pick up the car, pressing the throttle makes the wheels spin as though it still has full power. I’ve tried re-pairing the controller but this doesn’t make any difference. My battery is only 1300mAh, which is less powerful than others. Also the “straw” holding the antenna broke ages ago, but this doesn’t seem to affect performance. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  8. Hi, First time poster and complete newbie here. Just ordered my little lad (10 yo) an FTX Outlaw brushed for Xmas as he’s been wanting a decent RC car for a while. Completely new to this but based on what he wants (looks, speed etc) and what he wants it to do I settled on the brushed Outlaw as it looked like a decent spec for the money we wanted to spend. I’m already thinking about battery life and upgrades and thinking about buying an additional battery in anticipation. I’ve had a quick look and it seems like Lipo is the way to go but being a complete novice not sure if it’ll just be plug and play or if there’s something else I need to think about. Any hints, tips or suggestions (product wise or otherwise) would be great. Thanks in advance 👍🏼
  9. Obviously the answer is YES! But really I guess I'm asking should I, and can I do it safely? The reason I'm considering it is that I was looking for a couple of extra batteries for my son's WLtoys 12429 and there didn't seem to be much available that provided greater capacity than the included 1500mAh 2S Li-Ion. Looking around I found quite a number of high capacity 18650 cells (3000-3500mAh) but noticed the spec discharge rates varied widely between parts, from 5A-20A, which got me wondering how to determine what the C rating of the stock battery was and what the current draw of the stock (540 I think?) motor, or at least what was the ESC handling. Younger me would just experiment a little, but these days I've kinda had my fill of the magic white smoke so thought I'd reach out and see what you guys think. These LG DB 18650 HG2 Brown give a greater capacity and with a decent punch Battery Size: ∅18.5 x 65.2mm Weight: 47g Nominal Capacity: 3000mAh Maximum Continuous Discharge Current: 20A Maximum Burst Discharge current: 30A Recommended Charge Constant Current: 1.5A Maximum Charging Constant Current: 4A But then I wondered if anyone has tried other form factors....the world of vaping seems to be ahead of RC here! This Efest 26650 might be twice the weight but does that really matter for bashing? Battery Size: ∅26.1 x 66.3mm (so a little bigger) Weight: 90 gr (maybe too heavy for drones?) Nominal Capacity: 4200mAh Maximum Continuous Discharge Current: 35A Maximum Burst Discharge Current: 50A Recommended Charge Constant Current: 1.25A Maximum Charging Constant Current: up to 4A But maybe this Sony VTC6A is a good compromise? Battery Size: Ø21.2 x 69.7mm Weight: 73gr Nominal Capacity: 4100mAh Maximum Continuous Discharge Current: 25A Maximum Burst Discharge Current: 40A Recommended Charge Constant Current: 1.5A Maximum Charging Constant Current: 9A So I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience of making up battery packs using anything other than the ubiquitous 18650? Any thoughts gratefully received!! NB: Whilst writing this post I stumbled onto battery university which is worth a look around if you want to learn more about what powers the more sparky of the hobby...although I have to confess it was a little overwhelming for me!
  10. 11. Hi, I'm new ish to the world of nitro rc vehicles, and with my latest purchase of a Nanda NRB-5 buggy, I also purchased a Fastrax Roto-Start so that I could save my fingers from too much damage by getting them caught in the pull-start as I have previously done! My issues is, that the Roto-Start didn't come with a battery. So, my question is, what sort of mAh rating battery do I need to put in the Roto-Start as I've seen a variety of answers from 1500 mAh to 5000 mAh on other forums so would like to ask this question here where I can put out my query instead of picking bits from all over the internet and hoping for the best, while also being able to interact with those who answer my query incase I need any further clarification. Many thanks in advance. Matt
