  1. It's been a while but I finally found some spare time to start building my Cross-RC PG4A Adventurer. This model was released in 2016 and was one of the earliest products from Cross-RC who were only established in 2013. The PG4A is the top-of-the-range model in the PG series, which also included (amongst others), the PG4L dually truck. It never sold in big numbers and was not widely available so consequently, it is quite a rare beast. It is a 1:10 scale crawler kit in the style of a full-size pick-up truck and with a kit this big, it involves quite a large investment in time and money to get it built. It uses a metal C-channel chassis, 2-speed all-metal gearbox, a smattering of other metal parts, 2.2" tyres and a detailed hard plastic body. Of course with a kit like this, you also need some heavy duty electronic parts. Everything about this kit is big and heavy, but being one of the earlier kits, it has a few quirks that meant the build didn't go entirely to plan. In the video below, you can watch how the truck gradually comes together. BlackSeaRC
  2. I'm looking to buy my first crawler and have been tying myself in knots trying to work out what to buy. I don't want to spend the earth and have boiled my options down to an Element Enduro Sendero at £256 or an FTX Outback Treka at £159. Firstly, am I going to notice a £100 difference between these models and secondly is there enough of a difference for the FTX to put me off the idea of crawling? Thanks for any advice! Monkey
  3. I thought it was about time to give the AT4V another run. I had been waiting for some decent snow but nothing in sight yet this winter, so I headed into the Caucasus mountains for a bit of crawling on the rocky trails instead. The AT4V has quite a few upgrades including various CNC aluminium alloy and brass parts, plus independent front and rear axle diff-locking. I have found the Cross-RC products to be good quality and they also perform well. BlackSeaRC
  4. Hi all, another step in the clearout, this time it’s all my spare Tamiya parts, some new some used, all still very usable please study the pic as this is what you will get (not the storage box though). all offers considered but please don’t be silly….. looking for £30 the lot posted recorded. SOLD! Axial high clearance links in green alloy, all threads are good although they are a little scratched up, still work as they should. Threaded in m3 titanium rear upper links, fitted to a rr10 and yeti, could do with a little tweak in the vice. Threaded in m4 £20 for the axial links all in. £10 for the titanium links all in. more to come…..
  5. Axial SCX24 Mil Stone MAX Brass Wheel Weight Kit with Barrel Nuts, Hex Wt. + Overweights Made by kinetic-kms on eBay and imported from the states - fitted only once - as new condition. £28 posted in UK. Payment via PayPal Goods & Services please. Here's a chance for SCX24 RC truck owners to save a bit on the upfront costs + import fees! Effective brass wheel weights for the Axiel SCX24. I have the Chevy SCX24 truck with stock wheels and these were a perfect fit. Selling as I don't really like the extra width they add. Product info: "Mil Stone MAX weighted wheel spacer kit for the Axial SCX24 Crawler. The Mil Stone wideners offset each side three millimeters for a total of six millimeters of extra width. Each Spacer, Overweight and barrel nut add approximately Fourteen (13.98) grams to each wheel (scale in picture not included) adding a respectable 56 grams at the lowest point possible resulting in a much improved CoG. The barrel nut is made from 303 Stainless Steel. This kit now comes with the Overweight V2.0. They are compatible with the stock wheels and the new Kinetic Beadlock Wheels. The Spacer and Overweight is precision machined brass. This kit was put together so that you don't have to buy the Mil Stone 4 kit AND the Overweights. Just purchase the Mil Stone Max and you have the best."
  6. Hi all, looking at buying another 1/24 scale crawler and the only one that keeps popping up is the scx24, everyone talks about how good it is, is they any others as good as it and as upgradable as it or not ? thanks
  7. Following on from my unboxing video last month is the second video in the series looking at the new ROC Hobby Katana 1:18 scale mini-crawler. In this video I power-up the truck and conduct a series of tests to show how the Katana performs. See this impressive scale realistic RC truck in action below:
  8. After a long wait (over a month to clear customs checks alone), I finally received my ROC Hobby Katana. In the first video in a series, I am unboxing and looking in close-up detail at this new 1:18 scale mini-crawler. See BlackSeaRC for this and other RC videos, including the excellent but rare 1:18 scale Partner Racing QX-4 rock crawler buggy.
  9. Only me! Built myself (most of) an Enduro kit while bored and off work. Body is going to be another Power Wagon, yes I know I already have one, but I just like them, the style gives so much flexibility to get creative and not be hampered too much by wheelbase. Not to mention they are lightweight with no bed and look pretty awesome in 'raw' form in my humble opinion, so... Another Power Wagon it is. Since my old one is now named The Other Woman, my SCX10 spare parts box truck is Basic B!tch, this one is Means Business. The aim of this build is a bit of a no expense spared, but I don't plan to throw every single upgrade on it, I want to keep it light, with no added wheel weights and such, so elecs are HobbyWing AXE 2300kv combo, Savox 1230, mated to my Spektrum DX4C.. Although I do keep looking at the DX5 Rugged. Unfortunately don't have my large bench anymore, but this work space is okay, after building a new PC, I decided to have it sat on the floor, so it freed up space here. A very rough mock up. I did plan to repurpose the bed I had on The Other Woman, but it did suffer a little damage on the other truck (which is now a bit of a basher/crawler/thing lol) so I will either try to repair it or use it as a template, the chassis rails on the Enduro are different to the Axials anyway, so using it as a template might be better. And yes I am aware the rear wheels are currently weighted, none of them will be when my tyres get here from Amain, I'm going with some Pitbull Growlers... Haven't decided on foams yet, I will run the stock ones for a test period, if I feel they aren't performing optimally when the tyres are broken in, I will get some Crawler Innovations ordered. And unfortunately, I have received yet ANOTHER defective Pro-line bodyshell. I really wish us in the UK had better options for bodyshells, because I am getting a little fed up of this Pro-line junk, not to sound hateful, but this must be about the 6th or 7th crawler shell I've had with manufacturing defects and if I include my basher ones and ones that have snapped on the first run, I'm up to at least 15, that's a lot of money at £30-60 per shell.
  10. Hi, I'm wondering can anyone help me here. I recently purchased a ftx outback tundra 2. I'm looking to upgrade the battery. What would use suggest? I'm totally new to rc cars. This is my first purchase. Below is a picture of the current battery. Ive read that it can handle lipo batterys. If so which one would suit it and do i need another charger too? Thanks for any help
  11. Hi all! First post here, hopefully I don't say anything to upset or offend! I recently purchased a 6x6 custom crawler off a chap, as a do up type project. It came initially with a cheapish Banggood brushless system which made it go like the clappers but it was pretty awful at low speed crawling, which, to be fair, may also be down to the fact that it has a slipper clutch. I bought an HPI 55t motor and HPI SC-3SWP3 crawler spec ESC, excitedly fitted it all to the truck, plugged in my 2S lipo, took it to my local crawling spot and........... instantly failed to get over a tree root that my TT02 would have no issues crawling over. I picked it up over the root, and as soon as it was on the flat, it seemed okay, until I noticed a horrendous smell, which I realised was the motor, which had also reached untouchable temperatures. Frustrated, I chose to return to the car and put the 6x6 away, and continue with my friends, and we picked our brains wondering why the truck had failed so much. I should mention that the truck weighs around 3.5kg, which is no means light, but it isn't too much heavier than my old Trailwalker crawler, and that was excellent (my friend now owns it). After we got back to the car park, my friend plugged his 3S lipo into the truck, and the truck seemed to perform a little bit better, but the motor was still very hot. The gearing on the truck is an 18t pinion gear and a 56t spur gear, powered by (as mentioned) a 55t motor, and a 2S, 5500 mAh lipo. I took the electronics out of the truck, and have been running them without any load for roughly 30 mins, and the motor has stayed cool and the shafts (apologies if this isn't the correct term) that would drive the wheels continue to turn, even when I try and stop the with my hands. What could the issues possibly be? Is the truck simply too big to be powered with a 2s lipo? Should I bother buying completely new electronics or rather buy a 4x4 kit and keep the truck as a shelf queen? TIA!
  12. Hi guys and gals, selling this on behalf of my 12yr lad, Rc4wd trailfinder 2 kit purchased from Modelsport for his 10th birthday, specced it up using ONLY GENUINE Rc4wd UPGRADES/ADD ONS. Finished in Tamiya metallic blue. upgrades are as follows, Dick Cepek fun country tyres mounted on kit rims. Punisher shafts pictured have been replaced with some copy ones, used but still serviceable. Xvd’s fitted in front axle. low profile steel sliders. Warn rear bumper with drop hitch and ball. roll bar. Warn front bumper (£90 I think I paid for this from Martin @Rcbitz). Warn fairlead on front bumper. alloy front & rear bumper mounts/cross members. electrics wise it has, Rc4wd 35t motor. Hobbywing 1060 esc. Turnigy metal geared servo for steering. futaba s3003 servo for gearchange. 3 racing winch (no control board) with stronger winch line and hook. bodyset painted in Tamiya metallic blue, all detail painted with a few tasteful decals added. (Paint job is not 100% although near!) box on rear has battery and switch for the custom made light kit that’s fitted. since the time he had it, it’s had less than 1 battery pack’s worth of running. so onto pictures, so, he would like £500 £400 for it as it’s sits now. postage and PayPal fees on top of that so would be £440 all in. price can be negotiated of course but I won’t let it go for peanuts! sorry for the long ad, appreiacte taking time to look. thank you from us both.
  13. Hi All Just signed up on here and looking forward to gaining some sage advice about rc cars etc. I am very new to the hobby and really am finding it addictive, I seem to be spending lots of time on YouTube viewing the reviews and getting advice and tips on there. I seem to be more into rock crawlers than speed daemons but interested in all aspects of rc, I know that I have lots to learn and feel this is a great place to start. Looking forward to connecting with the community.
  14. I’m hoping this is the right forum thread to post this. I’ve had a nice response to my “hello” thread and a couple of people have suggested I do a build thread...so here goes. Be gentle, this is my first attempt at a build thread and my first foray into an RC build. Personally, I think building is more interesting than an RTR. So here’s the kit box and some sprues from bag 1. I’m going to run stock for now - although I’ve already been drawn to all the shiny upgrade parts - and if anything breaks or wears out, I’ll upgrade to whatever I’m drawn to online. SSD look like they do very nice stuff for this chassis. One of the reasons I chose this particular one was the myriad of upgrades available from lots of different companies. Also, does anyone have any experience of purchasing parts direct from the Far East? I’ve found a lot of offerings from a lot of manufacturers on Aliexpress. I also picked up the nice Fastrax tool set from Modelsport. I’m starting from scratch, so it’s nice to invest in some decent gear that’ll hopefully last a while. Does anyone recommend using shock pliers btw? The shocks on this kit are plastic, but if I go down the aluminium shock upgrade path in the future, will they be a good tool to have?
  15. Hi, so now we are going to have a little free time, I’ve been thinking about this for a while now, I’ve decided to scale down Rc and all associated stuff with it. i just don’t see the point of having 100 of each screw or bolt anymore, beautiful axles just sat in the parts drawer, pinions I have no use for, receivers I don’t need etc. etc. so over the coming weeks there will be loads more stuff to come as I try to sort through it all. ill thank you all now in advance for the rambling and adding more stuffs on the thread. first up is this heap of hardware, m2, m2.5, m3, m4, m5 and maybe the odd m6. lots of it’s new, some used but very much usable. the cost of posting will be high due to weight. looking for £21 posted recorded inc. fees. SOLD! next up is these beautiful Rc4wd yota 2 billet axles, fitted with cvd’s, transfer box is as new along with the chassis (all perfect for a d90 build). looking for £100 posted recorded with fees inc. 2 mod 1 pinions, 24t and 25t, one looks used but still perfect on the teeth and other looks new. £5 posted recorded.
