  1. Hi, I am very new to this after being gifted my E-Savage HPI (https://www.hpiracing.com/en/kit/505) many years ago when I was younger. Trying to restore it now, I am having an issue where the throttle is stuttering. I naively bought new motors for it, then realised that wasn't the issue. I have read that it could be controller issues, possibly a faulty wire/soldering issue on the board. Can anyone advise further on this at all? Thanks in advance,
  2. Hello everyone, I am a student taking a design class and one of my assignments is to design an electric RC car. It would be easy for me to make it for myself but I think it would be better to ask enthusiasts what things they look for in an RC car. I would be really grateful if you could give me some if your opinions on the following: - What is the most important factor when buying an RC car? - How important are the aesthetics to you? - Do you prefer a sporty look or something more like a monster truck, or maybe any other shape? - What layout do you prefer the remote control to have? - Are there any problems in current RC cars on the market that you think could be improved? - What is your prefered transmission and suspension in an RC car? - What do you think about stunt RC cars? - Do you mostly use RC cars for stunts or racing or for anything else? - Do you prefer a pre-built RC car or one that you can build and modify yourself? - What is your opinion on a model with interchangeable wheel types (normal wheels, omni-wheels, and tank treads could be swapped out on one model with a clipping mechanism)? - How much damage would you expect the RC car to take? - What is the avaerage life-span of an RC car? - What price are you willing to pay for an RC car? Thanks for your time, I don't expect anyone to answer all the questions, but I would be grateful for feedback. I don't have much knowledge on RC cars so I appologise if I got some things wrong. If you have any other ideas but I haven't asked a question relating to that topic I'd like to hear the feedback anyway; everything would be helpful. Thanks, Theo
  3. Hello. I am recently getting into 1/24th scale RC drifting. Having a bit of trouble though. As I am new to this, not really sure what good sources there are for just 1/24th scale stuff. Sometimes I’ll be looking at a motor, or ESC, or something and I’ll check around for reviews on multiple sites, and then by the 3rd site I find out it’s a 1/10th scale item even though I’m specifically searching for 1/24th scale electronics. Quick rundown of what I currently have: Chassis: Drift Art 2.6ex Chassis Drift Art 3s Chassis (on pre-order currently) Electronics: DriftArt DVF-AFRC V3 Servo DA-SV-D1 DriftArt HGV4 gyro with Shell Red DA-GYSL-4CR Controller: Futaba 10PX I am looking for some recommendations on any of my missing electronics. If they are compatible with the fancier features of the 10PX that would be great (the real time tuning and adjusting stuff). But even if it can’t be done with just the 10PX (I’ve learned most electronics with these features are 1/10th scale unfortunately ex. Acuvance Xarvis XX). I would like some real time way of making adjustments, I’ve seen some parts mentioning iOS apps and such with Hobby Wing and Furitek parts. I have a fairly good budget remaining for the rest of the electronics. I don’t mind spending extra for nice added features. such as real time adjusting and that stuff. I am in search of a quality ESC right now, looking for something sensored, brushless, and will play well with my 10PX for any added bells and whistles. Currently researching the “ATOMIC Mini 24A Sensored ESC”. I know the ESC I choose will determine my choices for possible batteries & motors so if their is a better option out there far as ESC’s go please drop the item or link below. Once I have ordered the ESC I will be looking for recommendations of motors & batteries, just don’t want to get ahead of myself and end up with parts that are incompatible. Thanks for any help/advice.
  4. Hello to all - I'm new to the forum. I have a HN X2 CRT truggy which I bought ages ago and didn't use very much - it's been in a cupboard but is in pretty good shape. I would like to convert it from nitro to electric. I've been researching which motor mounts / battery trays / servo mounts etc would fit the X2 but I'm not really sure what I need / if the required parts are available ? I also have the following components on hand : HET-RC Typhoon 700-68-1500 brushless motor YEP 150A ESC 4x 4S 3300 MaH Lipo's 3x 8S 4400 MaH Lipo's Suitable motor / lipo combinations for an 1/8th truggy would be of great help (especially if the motor, ESC and batteries I have would be useable / suitable). It would be great to be able to get a top speed of 40-50 mph and a runtime of 20-25 mins, but don't know if this is achievable ? Here is the truggy in its current state with all the nitro and control gear removed : https://i.postimg.cc/bJf92Gdv/PXL-20210909-200049942.jpg Any help or advice would be awesome ! Thanks, P195T
  5. Hi all, I'm sure this is the kind of question you get all the time but I could do with some advice. Myself and the family are looking to get in to the hobby so I'm looking for suggestions for a decent value starter car. Ideally I'd like something that we can take off road (local parks, gravel car parks etc). From my browsing I like the look of the FTX Carnage Brushless Truggy https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/ftx-carnage-1-10-4wd-brushless-truggy-rtr-waterproof-40397 Maverick Quantum+ XT Flux 3s https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/maverick-quantum-xt-flux-3s-1-10-stadium-truck-blue-1334791 Associated Rival Mt10 3s https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/associated-rival-mt10-3s-rtr-truck-brushless-446047 I'm open to suggestions but ideally I don't really want to be spending more than £300 all in, at this stage. Thanks in advance
  6. Hi All managed to get myself a losi 1/8 xe buggy yesterday, which was built but never used and plan to race locally. been out the hobby for the best part of 20 years, raced in my teenage years Touring cars. picked up a flysky gt5 which for price seems very good handset. just got to sort out the steering alignment, way off and not sure if it the servo or just needs setting up
  7. Hi, as the title suggests, I'm losing interest in electric rc. I have had numerous RC's of all kinds. Micro, large scale, electric, nitro etc. I recently got a typhon 6s and quickly fell in love. However, a few months ago I picked up a hpi trophy truggy 4.6, my first nitro for a couple of years. I remember one day taking the typhon and hpi for a bash, first running the hpi and having a great time. I then switched to the typhon and it almost felt boring. It was fast and jumped high, but it just felt like nothing. I've run the typon once since then and it was okay until the steering servo died and since then its been sat on the shelf and I have no real motivation to sort it. I'm considering selling it and getting a nitro buggy to run alongside the hpi truggy at a local track. Is this a good decision? It would mean that both of my main RC's are nitro and while I do have areas to run them, I know how much hassle they can be sometimes. I have a few smaller electric RC's to mess with, but nothing else like the typhon. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? I like the idea of having one of each, but I'm just not liking electric at the moment. What should I do? and if I were to buy a new nitro, what would be recommended? Thanks
  8. Hi! I have this maverick ion mt and havent used it too many times and it's gone faulty on me already. It now only goes forwards. It doesn't go backwards and it now doesn't turn in any direction. The batteries are all new and charged so I'm wondering what the issue could be. Any help? Attached a picture so you know the truck
  9. Hi! Im getting an electric version of the ftx zorro as my next car and I was wondering if there were any recommendations on if there were any other tyre/wheel branded sets that fit this model? Would like to get some variations if possible! Feel free to reccomend different sets for other cars too! Just make sure to mention what car they do and/or dont fit!
  10. Hi, I've been looking into electric rc for the first time in a few years, and have noticed how fast the electric models are getting out of the box. However, the price does reflect the performance, and I cant warrant spending the £500+ asking price for these models. I was wondering, is there a way of getting good speed from an on-road rc for cheap? I'm after something fun to drive as well as quick, not just a top speed missile. The hpi rs4 sport 3 looked to be a good deal, claimed speeds of 70+ with the speed gearing, however, many people are reporting issues, and i dont think I'd trust the flimsy looking chassis on anything but a race track. And £300 is already a good amount of money, even before spending half that again on upgrades. The maverick strada brushless tc looks interesting. With an esc upgrade along with gearing changes, would this car be capable of handling the 50mph+ mark while being fun to drive down the park? Just wondering what everyones general thoughts/recommendations are. Many thanks
  11. I have converted a "Chinese" nitro buggy (1/10 scale) into an electrical powered rally car, without a kit conversion. The first thing is to disassemble the nitro engine, brakes, exhaust pipe, throttle servo and nitro tank: The motor mounting adapter can be bought from ebay or aliexpress. It's very cheap. Adjustment slots: This motor (Graupner 600, 550 size) can operate at 2S or 3S Lipo: I put the ESC, receiver and battery. The battery is fastened with "velcro": I also changed the body por una del coche "Citroen ZX rally" and adapted the mounting posts with aluminum profiles. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qCfxifTULkw/XlT3ChscdlI/AAAAAAAAMuk/GZKCRaohz3UJVF7npbZF-VtwkxUUbUWXgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/36.JPG[/img ] This is the new car: The car in action (video): The complete process is here (in spanish lang.): http://reparar-cochesrc.blogspot.com/2017/04/reparar-diferencial-de-master-vh-x5.html
  12. Hello everyone, I am searching for a Carson 1/10 scale Jaguar S type bodyshell. I've attached a couple pictures for reference, and was wondering if anyone knew of where it could be acquired if not had one non painted and in very good condition. I'm after purchasing one. I'm building a "replica" for my father in law who's going thru and battling prostate radiotherapy and blood cancer. He has an 04 jaguar s type and its his world so I am trying to make one on a 1/10 scale to gift to him. Thank you everyone for your time. Respectfully, Skylar
  13. Hello everyone, My name is Skylar. I'm new to the scene with this stuff and have purchased/have had for a few months now the tamiya tt02 subaru monte carlo full set up from modelsport as a feeler to see if I'd get into this thing. I'm from illinois but live in the UK due to marrying a Brit. I love cars and have owned many in my 30 years of existence and I have recently bought shells for different makes/running gear that I will adapt to work on mine. Further I am searching for a shell like attached I know it's a Carson and believe the reference number is C13230. I have posted on here in the buying page as well about it. Long story short but told on the other post is wife's dad has 2 cancers he's battling and has an 04 jag s type I'm trying to create one for him. Thank you all for your time and support in the future. Skylar
  14. Hi, New member and new to RC. I crashed a REMO 1/16 RC Smax car into the footpath which caused the car to loose a lot of its power immediately. It became a little twitchy when driving. When the car is switched off it doesn't want to move freely like it did before the impact. Its a 4wd vehicle with a brushed motor. I am not sure if it is a mechanical or electrical error. Any thoughts? Thank you. Ross
