We never had lights outside before but bought a set last year. It was so nice coming home to see our little house with the lights out the front. Real Christmas vibes.
Will be doing it again this year, ...it's not much but it does make it look & feel better.

  6. just got all my lipos out to use them on my new charger. my first 2 was over the storage limit, not by alot. if anything i thought the cell count should be going down if not used for awhile. very strange indeed.

      Bajadre

when did you storage charge them froggy? id agree with storm about differences had that before i charged a 3s up fully popped it round my mates 2 streets up when he checked at his charger was slightly out too think it was about 12.5 on his i told him at the time it wouldnt lose .1 in 10mins etc as he said it wasnt fully charged his end

    3. froggy8

      froggy8

i storaged charged all my lipos around june 2019. shortly after i sold my charger.

right now, all cells are 3.85 but on the total amount, its 11.70 which, to me, seems not too bad as it should be 11.55.

They did go down some while ago, for many years you could get one on ebay from a china seller for less than 30 quid.  Just like everything else post Covid, they've sky rocketed.  Don't see em coming down much anytime soon.

  9. hey guys,

could anyone tell me if these items are what i need to convert a granite v2 to v3?

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392942943921?epid=2098924181&hash=item5b7d397eb1:g:9A0AAOSwuwdfYSRx

by looking at them, it seems they are.

    many thanks guys 🙂

    1. bertberr

      bertberr

I'm no Arrma expert, but I thought the V3 had better (leak free) shocks and an adjustable motor mount amongst other things (though a lot of peeps prefer the V2 fixed mount it seems...).

    3. froggy8

      froggy8

thank you guys, seems you are right. need more than that to change it to v3.

  10. past few days i have been looking at arrma rcs, just kinda torn between a buggy and a MT. been looking at the typhon v3 and granite v3......what to do, what to do.

      Ant.p

      @BashingBrian Who's HH?

You could always consider second hand. That way, no more money to Arrma, just a little compensation to the previous owner.

I would personally go for the buggy. I've found 1/8 scale to be so much tougher. Also, I find myself using buggy's more than the MT's. Each to their own though. Depends on what you see yourself using/wanting more.

    4. froggy8

      froggy8

      @Ant.p HH is Horizon Hobby.

i like the buggy, i am thinking just get them both so i dont have to keep thinking about this 😄

  12. ok guys, i cant seem to stop looking at the hyper 10tt or 10e truggy, i have had one many years ago and i thoroughly enjoyed driving that truggy but its quite old now. wondering if the lc truggy would be up to the task or would it be too small?

    1. turok007

      turok007

I was going to get the truggy but a few people said it's not a good as the other hypers

the Lc is a very nice truck  but 1/14th scale

    2. Bajadre

      Bajadre

yeah i heard that too compared to the hypers 😞 @ froggy see if you can find parts first brother i stuggle once in a while for a part for the d8t lucky alot of the parts are shared with the vorza and trophy trug

  17. anyone recommend a cheapish lipo charger? i was thinking about getting my old one back which is the skyrc d400, i really liked that. i am sure there will be some better or cheaper ones than that one.

If you don't want dual charging like your D400 then I really like this https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/skyrc-e680-ac-dc-80w-charger-440716

Had mine for quite a while now and it has been a solid performer for NIMH. LIPO and recently have been using it for some AGM Lead Acid.

wont be able find that again so was thinking if anyone has an upgraded hyper 7 then i might buy it if i can find one.

for brushless, it would have to be savage or vorza but the arrma 3s buggy looks awesome too.

anyone invested in anything? lets say i have 100k, what would you lot invest in for growth? been reading alot about this but still quite confusing. in a nutshell, you lock your money for about 20 years then you can either get the money out yourself or the money can go into your bank weekly. i think that is right.

As @stimpy said the problem I think at the moment is a lot of markets are already at or close to being fully valued, what you really want is something that is on the up but not widely known / talked about.  Going back a bit I used to follow gold quite closely, and the general concensus was when the world was talking about how great it was to invest in it, you had 'we buy your old gold' ads on TV etc, then the time was actually very much to sell and not be about to buy in.  I guess the same applies to some other markets today, I know I haven't bought anything classic car/bike or vintage related for some years now.  However, a lot of these older 'rules' are less relevant now in times of near zero interest rates.  The fact remains that with the demise of more traditional savings/investment vehicles, asset classes have and imo will remain, a solid option for a lot of people.  Where else do you put your money?  Problem is the price of entry is now so high for many of these asset classes that it's becoming a playground for the more affluent players only.

    3. stimpy

      stimpy

@Nick There are tax scams that can alleviate some of this stamp duty. There are also completely different rules for commercial property. All that said, one still needs a decent chunk of cash to get started and a wise accountant to boot. Like most of these things and as @bertberrcomments, once you are on the ladder it all becomes an awful lot easier as more doors open.

Personally, I have generally always made purchases or sales when I have wanted to. I do have some classic cars, and whilst I have made some money occasionally, I generally break even or lose it! 🙈😂

does anyone know how long drum brakes last for? i have changed mine 2 years ago and it has started to squeal, i am guessing it either needs another drum pads or maybe it needs some more grease on the backing plate. can anyone advise please?

    3. shaunm

      shaunm

It may not be your imagination, you could have a weeping brake cylinder, when you've stripped down the drum have a peek behind the rubber end caps carefully lift or prise each end up with a blunt screwdriver just be careful not to split the rubber just in case its not that!

Thanks for posting that, just trudged my way through it...my god it does its best to suck the joy out of flying your drone! Guess it applies to helis too. Anyway, all mine are sub 250g with no cameras, so I (think) I'm good to go for a while longer. Certainly won't be buying any new quads or helis now. Just use what I've got until they are scrap.
