  5. Hey folks, New to the forum but not to RC. I've been doing it as a proper hobby since 2010 ish. My main areas of interest are 1/16 tanks, boats and RC submarines. However I was bought a tamiya lunch box for Xmas (wanted one as a kid and never had so massive nostalgia there) and after some tinkering and upgrade I'm really enjoying it, so much so I'm looking to expand the collection! Definitely the off road basher/monster trucks that really grab me and something my kids seem to really enjoy too (I see a couple more lunchboxes/pumpkins in the future).

  6. Indoor again last night. Locked diff felt good on the front and definitely tamed the rear down. It's still not great though. I've put some harder springs on the front that have also helped but it's still there. It really looks like there's just too much weight transfer around the front. Annoyingly the front anti-roll bar I bought still hasn't turned up. Private seller on eBay who reckons they have another they're sending this week. I'll believe it when it turns out. Did manage a P3 in the final though! More through attrition than performance but got to be in it to win it! Buggies this weekend, midweek indoor and then off to a new club next weekend to do indoor again on a bit of a bigger track!

  7. Here's a random shot I took at Brands Hatch just over a year ago. I'm not much of a photographer, so I haven't taken a better one since!

  8. Had this arrive today from Amains https://bowhouserc.com/sgc-pan-hard-reinforcement-kit-for-scx6/#description I thought I would give it a go, certainly cheaper than alloy shock towers and alloy axles 😂

  9. All i have changed on mine is the steering links for metal ones, the esc for a hobbywing 1060, the tx and rx for a dumbo rc and fitted a better servo. Check out the modelsport website for spares and upgrades. A member of my local crawler club has fitted metal axles from china to his and has had no problems with them 😀

  10. Hi, I would suggest the carisma coyote sca1e 2.1, mine regularly outperforms more expensive rigs. used it hard for 8 months and broken nothing

  13. "The Lady" looks amazing! Should be proud of that! Extra bonus points for being one of my fav TV shows as a kid. Just need Rc versions of - KITT, Street Hawk, A-Team GMC Van + Face's Vette, The General Lee and Lee Majors GMC Sierra Grande and we will be done!

  14. A poor test print of a rocket car. Based on the Aussie Invader 1000kmh world record car. Maybe ill put a solid rocket motor in it and send it, or do a clean v2 print with an micro edf. Prints at .6mm on a .6mm nozzel pla, 7 hours, 85m of spool. really messy results but super fast time considering the size of the print. 280g

  15. As always it really depends upon what exactly you want - ultimate scale appearance or optimum performance? Some of the hard-body trucks (e.g. FMS/ROC Hobby) look amazing with their scale details but will never perform as well as the buggy style products. There certainly is a growing choice nowadays though with 1:18 scale products available from a huge number of brands including Absima, Axial, Capo, Eazy RC, FMS Model, FS Racing, FTX, Hobby Plus, Panda Hobby, RC4WD, ROC Hobby, Traxxas, etc.

  19. They should still have an effective 25C rating when wired up in series (or parallel). I’d be very curious to see what ~37 W of power (7.4 x 0.2 x 25) would do if you could get it all into the tiny truck these will be going into. Would probably be able to fly.

  22. Painted the body for the little LC Racing Truggy, I’m pretty sure the body came with window masks, but I can’t find them anywhere, so had to use the horrible window stickers 🤔

  30. It’s a great price for what you get 👍 Good size battery tray as well

  31. Not really seen much about these but the price actually seems ok for the size and being 4s! Is the battery tray a good size?

  40. I'm glad you obviously love your nitro R/c but this isn't a "nitro is better than electric or vice a versa competition". I've known a lot of people who buy nitro and attempt to do what you do, ...eg. play with it, put it away and forget about it till next time, ...depending on the time scales that the vehicle is left, maker, engine, fuels used as well as climate conditions it doesn't always hold true that you can do that. Imho electric power for R/c vehicles is the cleaner, easier and best power source for the "majority" of hobbyists especially those just starting out or more occasional users. Oh and FYI nitro isn't "much faster" as you put it in your earlier post. Both electric and nitro models can both be made to go extremely fast. ?

  41. I really don't understand why you wouldn't store them correctly. It's simply a case of plugging it in and pressing a button. Not storage charging is just lazy, it takes virtually zero effort.

  42. Noise is the biggest issue for me with nitro. You run one in a local park and it's only a matter of time before someone complains.
    1 point
  43. Personally I think the problem is for the general hobbyist nitro can be a complete PITA. You can't just pick it up, run it, put it away and 12 months later do the same. The engines need more attention, general upkeep, knowledge for use than electric motors and obviously you need to adjust the tuning at times for proper/smooth running/starting. I think there will always be a market for nitro engined models but for most people electric is much more convenient and easy to use. I'd happily recommend an electric R/c model to anyone but I wouldn't do the same for nitro.
