Popular Post Oh How Original Posted January 12, 2021 Popular Post Share Posted January 12, 2021 So this has been a long time coming, I have wanted one of these since release, but the issues people reported with the Origin put me off that model, then along came the Pro and Ultra, not being a portal guy, I bought the Pro. What's prompted this is mostly because someone posted a thread on the forum about a month ago asking for peoples holy grail or money no object RCs and upon thinking about it, I've got/had all mine (apart from a 1/6th tank which will never happen since I don't drive) Figured pretty much the last thing on the list is a VS4-10 Pro. Order from Amain on the 21st December and it arrived yesterday. I really like the way the bearing caps hold everything in place, it does make inspecting gears a bit more tedious, since you have to pull the knuckles/lockouts off to pull the third member out, but no big deal. The axles are very premium as you would expect, this is actually my first time experiencing Vanquish Curries, I think I might have to get more for other trucks! I love the little grease re-fill bolt, although mine is actually quite pink, so I might have to try and source a different coloured one if anyone has a suggestion about that? Transmission all together, ridiculously smooth and well built as you'd expect. Added some scale bolts for an added touch. First time using my new link/shock tool, got to say, I wish I'd bought one years ago! Shocks all built, using some TLR 100wt oil, that sounds very heavy, but the bodies of the shocks are quite thin at 7mm and the pistons installed from the factory definitely favour a heavier oil, I think. Small touched like the shocks threads being machined perfectly so all the branding lines up perfectly really sets this above anything else on the market IMO. Basic chassis done. And where I am up to now. Haven't installed the transmission, purely because I don't have my motor yet. My plan was to put a HH Puller Pro V2 2700kv in there with a Castle Mamba X (have it on the way from Amain) but everything is super delayed, I also have £55 in store credit on Red Winches, so I might just order up a Crawlmaster Pro 13t 540 from there with a HobbyWing 1080. Servo is a Savox 1268, will be run with a Castle BEC and from my DX4C. Paint arrived today for the body, it's all pre-cut by laser, which is very neat. I dislike how they pre-cut the body post holes though, I planned to mount with magnets, but that's ruined that idea. That is my only complaint about the entire thing, but since it isn't going to be a scaler, it's really quite minor anyway. 10 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I loved building my Ultra, but am not a huge fan of the shocks, mine leak quite badly, I should rebuild them really. That said, it is a joy to drive. Was going to order VPs but really can't stomache the price and the waiting times, I am still waiting for an order I placed on the 4th December and two others on the 21st December... Originally mounted with SSD +6mm hubs with rotors, but didn't like the look so swapped to the narrowest hubs I have, no faux rotors, but I really don't need those, would rather have the wheels pulled in more than faux rotors. Had these laying around... Wrapped in some Voodoo KLRs, they are a tiny bit wider than I wanted, so I might do some comparison with Wrangler MTRs, but for grip purposes, it doesn't get much better. Also ordered my HH CrawlMaster Pro 13t from RedWinches and my HobbyWing 1080 from RCBitz. Before... After... And to whoever keeps voting my threads down... It will be very similar to the wheels, using the same paint but different backing colours will give different shades. Popular Post Oh How Original Posted January 15, 2021 Author Popular Post Share Posted January 15, 2021 Electrics arrived for this today, all wired up now, was going to go brushless but since the ESC is still stuck somewhere in customs (may never arrive, since the tracking hasn't updated for over two weeks) I decided to go brushed instead, I also had £55 store credit with Red Winches, so upgraded to the best brushed motor there is @.AJ. what cable wrap stuff do you use for servo wires? I bought two kinds, one is barely thick enough to cover a single motor cable, the other (next size up in the listing) would probably fit the battery connectors in, way too big! Oh How Original Posted January 16, 2021 Author Share Posted January 16, 2021 Not finished truck yet, had a few issues routing the wiring for the lights, they are installed but it's a bit of a PITA with the removable interior and bed, thinking I will have to get the interior finished, then mount the lighting afterwards. Popular Post Oh How Original Posted January 17, 2021 Author Popular Post Share Posted January 17, 2021 Got the VS4-10 ESC programmed up and running smooth, seems to have enough oomph on 2s, so ordered a 7200 2s 80C pack, should give me many hours of trailing time. Also rather annoying, picked the truck up this morning to find four small pools of oil on my mat, so need to replace the bottom seals in all four shocks... Then refill them, bit of a headache. Also got the lighting installed and right now working on the masking, interior is also done, just very basic black, since it won't have interior lighting and stuff, but I do want to add some flat clear to the outside. Oh How Original Posted January 17, 2021 Author Share Posted January 17, 2021 Yeah just a bit, honestly since looking around though it seems to be a common issue, I've asked on the VS4-10 group about what are a good replacement seal, since these shocks are a little bit thinner than most, believe these are 7mm and typically crawlers run 8 and 9, not sure which seals are going to be best.
