No impact on me, But think it is ridiculous that ModelSport or any other shop is still closed, Money is being unnecessarily taken out of the Furlough Scheme, Just cos something is there, Doesn't mean you have to use it.

This is all getting a bit silly, There are 66 Million people in the UK, 2 died of Covid-19 yesterday.

I'm glad of this as I'm not too far away. But, it's not like you can go into  Modelsport and browse.  There are showcases  and  a counter,  you tell em what you want  and they go get it out the back. ! Glass screen and compulsory  face mask...job sorted !  👍

But why have a glass screen if we have the wear face masks, Next it will be full Hazmat Suit, I am the last person on this planet to entertain a conspiracy theory, But something don't smell right about all this now, We were doing all this to save the NHS from being overwhelmed, Pretty sure we've done that, Our Covid death count has been revised down by 6000,  Sage now says the All knowing R-Number is not reliable because our case count is too low,  People are having to pay silly money and be out of pocket again to get back from France and the likes to avoid some stupid quarantine they bring in 2 minutes before it go's into effect.

And I still wouldn't put money on them lazy(Harsh but true)teachers going back in September, Off subject a bit, I know, But it's starting to wind me up now, Just open the shop, You've got more chance of dying from a car crash or getting run over going to work than dying from Covid-19 got at work.

Because not everyone can wear face mask, so they put it up as a precaution.

i think before they were closed because they are too busy doing online sales rather than afraid of getting ill. The staff dont actual man the counter, normally when i go in there is nobody there and like John said, its not even a shop, its more like a showroom with click and collect anyway. I normally just look what i want online and then write the part numbers as they have to go into the back and pick it out. The business is really gear for online rather than shop sales, which is really annoying sometimes if you dont specifically know what you want.

Thanks Nick. Good post although I’m not sure about the last bit. If you buy a car and something is wrong or you have a concern, query etc then they owe you that service. I was in that camp a couple of months ago and found it really frustrating not being able to phone and waiting over a week for an email replay.

In addition I have bought 90% of all my rc cars, parts etc from Modelsport. They’re not always the cheapest but I buy from them because I buy into that service.

I appreciate the insight for how everything has worked though 👍

Thanks @Nickarla, I should of been clearer so edited that out to save confusion. That part was not directed at genuine customers, if you have worked in retail you'll know there's a lot of people who take up time to use the free advice and services small businesses provide - which in normal circumstances is just business and is great to have that convenience but in the current circumstances it can't be filtered out in place of those who need it using 1-on-1 services like phones and over the counter, so it all has to be taken away for the time being. E-mails are better as topics can be prioritized in what the business feels needs to be attended sooner. You can imagine if it takes a week to get a reply, what that would of been if they were trying to juggle phones and store customers too.

We can all agree COVID sucks, if you believe the virus exists or not, the situation it has put businesses and customers in again sucks but thankfully temporary.

Thanks Nick. I haven’t worked in retail but I fully sympathise with those who find themselves offering free advice to people who then go and buy cheaper elsewhere.  It grates me so I can only imagine what it must be like for those whose actual business it is.

Covid times aside I have had nothing but a 1st class service from Modelsport which is why I continue to keep them as my main rc retailer.

Off topic but needs answering.  Show me a lazy teacher and i'll show you 20 that work their backsides off for the kids.  My own school...no staff furloughed, open throughout the pandemic, initially for just children of keyworkers etc, then any from June.  On top of providing care and education for the children present.... we had to do it for the kids not present.  Our position was echoed across the entire country, and even the most ignorant should be able to realise teachers / schools can't go from providing there services face to face to online without some hiccups - not forgetting that throughout those teachers we're faced with the same pandemic everyone else was.

Have some schools / teachers been less effective than they could have been?  Certainly - but your comment is grossly unjust.  Personally my ire is saved for the PM and other so called 'leaders'.

That is all.

@capri-boy I don’t work in a school but I know people who do. As you say anyone who thinks that teachers have it easy with all their ‘holidays’ time off during covid etc don’t really understand what the reality is.

I wouldn’t be a teacher and take my hat off to those who are.
