The way I read the specifications it says ...

Brushed / brushless: BL

Sensored / sensorless: SL

It indicates normal options then clarifies - its brushless and its sensorless.

So will this replace the famous SC8?

Considering the price drops and 'dumping' of the SC8 i'd say that's highly likley.  If you compare the specs it's very similar the the SC8 - upto 4s and 120a/760a burst.

I'd expect it to work just fine anywhere the SC8 did.

Makes me laugh. Billed as a 1/10th esc and still better spec than the one in the HPI 1/8 Trophy series

Shows how under par rtr electronics are

Nice looking upgrade of the SC8 that can utilize a HV servo

But isn't the Xerun slowly disappearing? They don't seem as readily available as they once were, or is it just me? I just feel that Hobbywing is replacing their old line up with these new Max series. That's fine, all except the odd cell count issue.

And I don't know what the rest are like but my Max 8 only had LVC "low, medium, high" no voltages. Didn't like that.

Yeah, I'm not keen on that system either, but it seems to work.

Oh these look nice.

7.4v Bec should work nice with today's power hungry servos

Wifi module ?  Is there an app out then for these Max seriers esc ?

Seems like a step in the right direction if you ask me even looks nicer than the old sc8 IMO

If I was in the market for a new 120a esc I'd deffiently be looking at one of these and I'd happily pay a little extra so I didn't have to run an external Bec to run high powered servos :good:

  • 2 weeks later...

The wire I circled in red monitors the motor temp on motors that except the plug so does that mean will be getting new motors to match this esc in a combo like the sc8  or are these motors already out ?

Got one of these in May from France for my Slash to replace a failed CC MMP, really happy with it so far, was going to get a SC8 but this was £5 more and newer so decided to give it a go, really good so far seems a lot better and tougher than the castle and WP. The extra capacitors are for use if the capacitors are constantly above 85C

You can download the Android wifi express app directly from Hobbywing, you just have to manually install it, and just a bit buggy.

It's the rpm speed ect ide like for logging. Then we can test motors against each other with ease. I want to see how much better castle motors are over hobbywing or Leppard or if at all.
