Popular Post Noj
Fair to say that some, early production Helion offerings were a little questionable and they do still use Phillips head hardware on their 1/10th range, until now....The Select Range, kicking off with the Four10 SC. Essentially, a Slash style SC, but LCG out of the box for MUCH less money. Ally towers, shocks, bulkhead supports, propshaft, hubs, RS bearings, metal diff gears (internal and external), tie bars as standard, comes with a free hairnet too, for those dusty, mown grass bashes. Shell feels to be good quality, the lexan isn't thin... Stock radio is untried (was dropped by a clumsy fella before even being switched on), however, although perhaps a bit clunky looking, has 10 model memory and comes with a different sized rubber grip. Now, the four pole combo is, out of the box, rather rapid. Looks very Quicrun and the hobbywing program card will allow alteration to the first five parameters on the esc, connecting via the fan port in the same manner. Raced on 2s,with stock gearing, the truck itself is light, the can punts it around very very swiftly. The shocks were softened off for the circuit it was raced on, turned in very well on the stock servo and still soaked up the bumps well. Flew down the back straight, looked excellent under braking as the nose tucked down.... One minor issue was the rod ends popping off the steering: the first time was following a collision with a large, track side cone (to be expected perhaps), however, both sides popped off at random times during each race (robbing us of a place, if not two).... Turning the steering by hand, at full travel, there is a levering motion on the rod ends which may well be the issue...a slight knock and off they pop. The truck was running different offset wheels which may be a contributory factor.... Anyway, initial impressions are excellent, and currently available for £249.99 I feel it represents better vfm than say a Slash or Blitz out of the box. Parts are reasonable, possibilty of RPM making arms, as they have for other cars in the range. Have a look at the pics and see what you think. Stock wheels and tyres: 4
Tug
Looks ok does that, shame about the rods popping off.
Derka
Looks good. Far better than the Dominus 10sc v2 I once had. I think this one may take off and hopefully get some good aftermarket support.
Nitroholic
Shell looks a little .... crude...to my eyes. Other than that, though, it looks very well laid out. If hte materials are up to scratch, then it should be a good choice. Especially when you look at how much more Traxxas would charge for a Slash 4x4 ... Noj
The rod ends were a surprise, they take some force to re-attach. Considering hollow balls if the problem persists. Not the most stylish, granted....at the price point, I'll forgive it. Proper thought has gone into this model, needs more runtime to see how durable it actually is..... Oh yes, forgot to mention the combo runs a motor temp sensor....random! Edited February 2, 2016 by Noj Updated info

Noj
Good man Tom Re the rod ends, they pop off the central steering points, not the hubs. Bit of research and Schumacher do these (scroll to the bottom of the page) captured rod ends.... http://www.racing-cars.com/sp/category/New_Cars_and_Parts/subcategory/CAT_K2/templateid/12/searchbox7/Suspension.html I am getting Nige to check the endpoints though.....just in case
ostewart
Traxxas do some captured rod ends that'll fit. If you want to stick to cups, HPI Blitz ESE rod ends are a good choice, they use a harder composite plastic which doesn't pop off easily at all. Noj
Schumacher captive rod ends landed today, really lovely parts, smooth to operate, nicely engineered. Nige will be stocking these within the Helion parts listings, a set will be fitted to the Four10 prior to the race meet at the end of the month and I'll report back
tomr
According to Rc car action magazine these sc's do 47 mph out of the box on 3s . Can't wait should have mine this time next week
