Popular Post steephill Posted May 7 Popular Post Share Posted May 7 Here's a few pictures of one of my lcg crawlers. It's not a big budget build but a fairly competent crawler. I wanted to build a crawler with capra axles. At the time when I built it there wasn't many options, vanquish or buy a capra for the axles. @Andy-Roo I noticed you have a wanted ad for capra axles. So I picked up a set from aliexpress. For the money they aren't bad at all. Gearbox is another aliexpress buy, lcg gearbox, I've got a couple more to try. The other has overdrive and delrin skid. 1080 esc and an old novak 55t motor. Desert lizard internal sprung 90mm shock (again) The chassis is a aliexpress carbon weight forward. The links on the rear are stainless, the front are quite short so I had to cut some down. Proline flat iron XL tyres, good tyres but not worth more than fastrax rocko or the latest offerings from Injora. It does have a j concepts creep body. I'm going to fit the ftx texan body shown in the picture. Just needs a bit more trimming so it sits level on the chassis rails. No side plates fitted at the moment, I had the battery strapped to the chassis rail, not ideal. But it's getting a gearbox swap, texan body and maybe the rhino outrunner. Andy-Roo Posted May 7 Share Posted May 7 @steephill That looks decent and would be good to see it up against a high end LCG from one of the big hitters - I’d bet there wouldn’t be much in it. I had an LCG itch 3yrs ago that I never scratched, and it came back recently after I decided to rebuild my 10.2 - that’s why I put the wanted add up. I joined the GS U.K. Facebook group and one of the guys on there sold me a set of stock Capra axles (waiting on their delivery) That’s the first step towards scratching that LCG itch. steephill Posted May 19 Author Share Posted May 19 I've ordered a Rhino yue one V2 chassis kit. Rhino capra axles, chassis, gearbox, links and driveshafts. So I'm gonna need wheels, tyres, shocks (probably 90mm desert lizards). I've got a 80a Rhino esc and 2250kv outrunner. And I have a 9imod 55kg servo that's pretty quick. And I'm not sure about the body. I ideally don't want to end with a 3rd of what's left of a perfectly good lexan body chopped up. steephill Posted May 21 Author Share Posted May 21 Made a start on another chassis I got from aliexpress a while ago. I had to pull a truck to bits as I needed the axles. I've used a aliexpress lcg gearbox with overdrive, comes with a delrin skid. Desert lizard shocks, again. Injora brushed 5 slot motor, I've just finished soldering a 1080. A few bit to do, work out where the battery, esc and receiver are going. Fit drag link and servo horn. I'm going to get it running and test tomorrow. I've got a proline 78 chevy k10 body I think I'm going to use for this one. So far very good value.
