MrCake Posted March 26, 2023 Share Posted March 26, 2023 Another gloomy rainy day so some more soldering. Finally settled on a method of holding wires/connectors which seems to work well. Tried helping hands (basic 2-hand crocodile clip version) but never really got on with them. My Dad, blees him is a silver age Comic Collector. He has been all my life. I remember him buying some absolutely states of comic books. In horrific condition and me saying “Dad, why have you spent, in some cases thousands of pounds on incomplete, poor condition comics!?” And he always said to me the same thing. “Keith, as long as you get it, you can always upgrade and sell the old one on”. AS ive always said. My first RC was a used Tamiya M-01 Mini Cooper. However, the first RC is remember meaning something to me was Tamiya 58241. A Ford Focus WRC. So today using my Dads advice. I bought this tatty incomplete one off eBay for £110. My plan was always to upgrade it, but I had one. Well at least I won one on ebay and it was going to be posted. Imagine my shock when half an hour later I got a notification on facebook marketplace of all places advertising a complete one, 40 miles away. So I gave my Mrs my best Puppy Dog Eye impression and promised to sell the one that Id not yet received. And off I went to get it 😁 Its mint and gorgeous to be fair Then imagine hearing these words off the very nice chap selling it me….. ”Dont suppose you want a Tamiya Cosworth as well?” Yes please! Now my question is, is aluminium chassis worth the money? Carbon is obviously the way to go but on a Bugsta that is like half the cost of the OG car! totlxtc Posted March 30, 2023 Share Posted March 30, 2023 Please dont take this as it may sound.., I would not waste £66 on a carbon chassis for a Bugsta which is almost half the cost of the car. Get a ally one. It will last longer than the plastic. If it bends then its still 1/3 the cost of the carbon. The 66t motor makes it into more of a trail truck and it tops out at a brisk walk pace. I think I'm going to buy another body and do the pick up mod to try and reduce some of the uptop weight. So far I've only used it inside on little home made courses and it's pretty good however, the cats aren't a big fan of it! I only used the traxxas bits briefly but the 1060 ESC, Holmes hobbies motor and 7kg injora servo is definitely a good step up and after I sold the subpar traxxas electronics. 6 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
