Popular Post Hell horn.
Made some sort of crazy monster. Going to get a cheap roll cage chassis off ebay for it this week. And see what I can build
Popular Post Alex97
Now 90% done, I still need to sort the gulf stickers out for the mini and fit the lights on the escort. They really do make some nice shells for the m chassis cars, shame that they aren't all that popular 😥

Popular Post Redback
Few more things to do before running but lots done. Here you can see the custom rear body mount, it bolts into the diff housing in 4 parts using stock hardware and doubles as a shock tower. This was needed as the body is mere 95mm high and sits to high on the stock body mounts / shock system. Also completly fibertape reinforced the shell, added and soldiered up the electrics (went back to stock spur as didnt have pinion large enough for the outlaw one 28 - 90t gearing atm), upgraded from 13 awg on the motor to 10, shame castle use such small wire on this esc should be 10 atleast imo. Belt protector mock up blocked out, might try melting some plastic as its lighter, otherwise this will be hard mounted with brackets. Just need to make and esc mount and battery mount, right now this takes 2 - 4 s with shorty packs or these drone lipos so need a solution that will work for both setups. Then a quick maiden run cant wait to get a pb logged on this vintage machine 😄 Edited July 26, 2021 by Redback

Info & form here: https://home.castlecreations.com/warranty-and-service I bought a used XLX from eBay which turned out to be FUBAR. Another speed runner mentioned about the two tier warranty Castle offer so I filled in the "Non-Warranty RMA" form, selected what I wanted as a replacement (XLX2) and sent the ESC off to the USA via tracked delivery. When they get it they will then email you for payment of your new replacement ESC plus postage back to the UK which will be less than the cost of buying new again. You can even select a different ESC to the one you broke if you like. Well, a result, I decided to call them, was honest and told them what I had done, they have come back with a price to send me a new one under the second tire warranty, less than quoted on the website and I don’t need to send them my paperweight (their words) back. happy with that, I thinks it’s great customer service.

Shergar
So new motor, new gears, two new prop bearings, some grease and a motor plate & cover off a fury (as I’ve almost lost a small nieces fingers in the old set up!) But hey the case and propshafts survived 😁 I even managed to solder it cleanly! Trouble is I’m pulling the rest of the Scout apart now… 1

Popular Post Bert_w164
It's my 1:1 model...the serpentine belt was never fitted correctly as the "mechanic" got it outright wrong on his first attempt (squealing) and since his second attempt I've had gremlins...belt use to occasionally slip without making a noise, so there'd be dips in voltage which would then sort themselves out...I had assumed this to be just gremlins as these cars are known to he divas sometimes... The belt finally gave up two weeks ago, prematurely, and knocked out the breather pipe to a thermostat which has three letters I really had hoped I would not see... This meant no third party option and having to pay double the going rate of a thermostat plus a drive belt which has an over inflated price as well. Since working on RC cars and building them, I am not intimidated by working on my 1:1 anymore. I've been servicing it myself and carrying out repairs when needed. Like everyone I occasionally make mistakes, but Jesus, I'd rather pay for my own mistakes and learn, than pay for someone else's as I have in this instance. Started Bertie up, no complains, no intermittent gremlins, happy days. All bearings, rollers and tensioner, Pas pump, air con pump, alternator were replaced with brand new parts two years ago. You can see one roller which clearly wasn't replaced, but it spins without any grinding noises and stops spinning when not turned (so isn't shot as infinite spin is bad)...

Popular Post Shergar
Motor back in, hopefully the perfect trail walking pace this time 👍 XT60’s on the ESC on the to-do list!
Popular Post Shergar
So first impression is plenty of torque, and a far better drag brake than the HH crawl master. Just quicker than walking pace on 2.2’s. Obviously it’s filthy again 😂 8
