I had a fun day out at east anglia scale trail where I managed to empty three 5200mah packs in the trx4 and almost lose one of my boots to some mud, twice. Can’t say I’ve been to any other organised trail events before but I suspect I’ll be trying to get back to this one next year if I can. EDIT: forgot to mention that the bigger 4.7” tyres didn’t seem to cause any more issues with rubbing on the shell than the class 1 wheels so they ended up staying on the truck all day.8 points

Its being a very stressful 3 weeks, financially planning my mums early retirement due to ill health, organising a surprise 30th for my girlfriend and just general life stuff. Not touched an RC for weeks, maybe even month so I just wanted to go to the middle of nowhere with the crawlers. Also tried the Maxx out since shimming the diffs. Seems much better. Servo sounds rough mind #traxxasservoslol8 points

Brushless converted it!! I said it lol It is insanely fast! I wish you could still get these little guys. They handle so well and the plastics are pretty good quality so they just bend and bend back. I’ve also ditched the stock steering system for a metal gear servo and no servo saver.7 points

Made a shortie flatbed for the Element Enduro. About £4 worth of aluminium, a sheet of styrene and some dodgy fabrication skills. Really can’t decide what I want to do with this truck. Not 100% happy with it, but it definitely helps with approach/exit angle. Hoping it might look better after a couple of coats of matte black. Might add a roll bar too?5 points

The front mud guards did a awesome job of keeping the insides clean State of the fan 😂4 points

First bash! Wow what can I say! It drives just like a 1/8 truggy, dare I say it handled better than my 5ive B, very close tbh.. but it definitely jumps much better, I even manage a few back flips off the worn out jumps 👍 Im not convinced with the gearing I’ve been recommended, everything is hot, esc 60c, motor 75c, batteries 50c, it’s plenty fast enough, wheelies on demand even with the punch on the esc set to low, so I think I’ll gear down a touch and get a 28t pinion Run time was around 20-25mins, I was expecting a bit more, at cutoff the lipos were at 3.2v which is a bit low for liking, so I’ll up on the esc as well Ive given the truck a quick look over and no damage apart from the esc fan has lost a few fins 😂4 points

Looks like most of the forum got out with their RC’s today! I’m loving all the pics 👌3 points

£499 for a ftx. doesn’t that now make the Traxxas Trx4 look like a real bargain… also interested why no 1080 esc? The 1040 is ok but the 50% reverse power is as stupid as it was on the Mtronics esc’s back in the day.3 points

Even £400 is pushing it. Regardless of the spec, FTX will always have that "cheapy brand" reputation. £350 - £370 would be much more reasonable... And I still wouldn't pay that for an FTX! They should embrace their low-to-mid-tier market presence and stick with it. After all, it has been serving them very well.3 points

Absima have done this trick twice already with the Sherpa & Yucatan, they are made by Yi-Kong, also Banggood rigs, re-badged and doubled the price! They think we dont notice aswel but guess what!? We do notice.2 points

Agree 100% I have the FTX Runt of the litter = Kanyon and im very sympathetic towards FTX/RGT rigs from a 'get what you pay for stand point'. But this is just a none starter at £449-499. £299-£350 I might have pulled the trigger but for £549 I can have the TRX4 Defender = No Brainer!2 points

Okay lets put this and kill the ftx of...................£499 for FTX or £499 for traxxas 2021 bronco ......................................i am not a trax fan but its a no brainer2 points

£275 These were when Matteo's RC Movies's did the unboxing review via Aliexpress & Asiatee's in January 2022! Now CML want £499rrp for the FTX? Thats absolutely outrageous and offensive to the FTX customer base. £299-£350 Absolute tops or the money might just go to Traxxas for a TRX4 Defender etc. I Have a soft spot for FTX & RGT but this is really pushing the envelope.2 points

Took the xtr out for a quick blast with some friends this morning, one of them picked up a sketer yesterday and I was disappointed to say the least. Was running 4s and hardly got the front wheels on the air. Glad I didn't order one myself2 points

Looks really good there mate The rtr version canyon tyres are 4.6 so you might be ok with a little bit arch rub2 points

£500 for essentially a china special is taking the whizz, despite using decent electronics and copying the features of a TRX4. I do like it, generally, but it needs to be at least £100 cheaper - and not by a company that has barely any parts support in the UK like RGT.2 points

Mine took a fair old beating today and managed to stay in one piece. I was quite surprised given the size of some of the falls I managed to subject it to and the ferocity of the ESC brake when coming off the trigger at speed.1 point

They do the work I need them todo fast trail running on the flat mainly, my Kanyon is running an Absima A10 brushless, outlaw open diffs in both, RC4WD copy twin motor winch for nose weight, alloy chassis rails mod on both, Steel pinions in both, DF-4J runs a 1080 and a Surpass 5 slot 550 12 turn, both are a blast just on 2S, sitting lowish on soft springs and they look box stock other than that but go really well and cruise at walking pace very nicely.1 point

It would have been the landings, it’s pretty much spotless inside, I’ve seen a 3D printed top cover that can mount 2 x 40mm fans to im going to try 👍1 point

Looks good fun, Was it just the shock of the landings that did the blades or did some debris get in there?1 point

I have a decent battery bank, I've emailed heliguy to see when stock is due for more batteries or Fly More kit. Might have to just bite the bullet and get one from an eBay scalper. Tested out a few more modes like active tracking and stuff today, still gearing up for a proper flight.1 point

Call the BRCA or contact them. Their insurance definitely covers bashers. It's mandatory for club, regional and national events. On the BRCA website you can download the Members booklet that tells you all about the insurance cover they offer. https://www.brca.org/f2-stock-cars-documents/29-brca-handbooks/72-brca-handbooks-2022/1712-members-handbook-2022-web-v2 Pages 10-12.1 point

Did another flight today. Changed the controls to Mode 1 as I found this more natural (probably from playing computer games). I can't find any batteries in stock anywhere. 😞 Could really do with one before I go away in July. Still undecided on what carry case, looking for something soft and compact.1 point

well said, they make some good value cars and should stick to that1 point

careful with the polished turd..............some people really like this model 😃1 point

It’s very true……you can’t polish a turd!1 point

Interesting update on the old model, often considered getting a Kanyon but its not without its faults, body shell is very weak and mounting points needs beefing up, also its huge being more like 1/8th, and no choice of other body shells1 point

The Hobbywing Max 6 feauting dirt Ive since took the shell off and cleaned best I can. Ive put some Corrosion X on some of the rusty screws, and truth be told its in far better condition than described. It was 3 wheel drive however, but I just needed to rebuilt the Hot Racing front drive shaft. Steering seems off but I think its TSM kicking in admitedly Ive only gone round my garden. Some of my lipos fit and it already has XT90s. This is honestly a great entry to the UDR. Plug and play and with some time and effort if it doesnt work out Ill easily get my money back.1 point

Day off and up early to have some flooring done on the house. Only liveable space was the conservatory, which was very bright at 7am so decided to fit the Brass to the TRX4….. Not going to fit the servo yet, in case the Sledge needs an upgrade Not even took a wheel of this since I owned it, so if you were wondering like me what a Portal Axle is, here you go: First piece on: Fit and finish is spot on. Just the same but brass Front is a bit different but: Simple enough: Bit of a wipe over, job done:1 point
