Popular Post Alex97 Posted May 11, 2023 Popular Post Share Posted May 11, 2023 (edited) I've been a bit of a fan boy of this little chassis for a while now, mainly because it was one of the first classes I ever raced plus the simplicity of the design is fantastic. I brought a roller several years ago however the condition was a lot worse than the eBay pictures showed and at that point in time Tamiya stopped manufacturing the chassis meaning that I was unable to revive it fully. Since then I've had several other M chassis cars however non of them have really been on par with the M03 IMO. I managed to source one of or the last brand new chassis from Hong Kong the other week, I'd already been collecting a few pieces in the background ready for this build however unless I source and new or mint chassis there wasn't much point. I'm trying to build this with as many official tamiya parts as it will no doubt end up living on a shelf. Because I want one to be mint I've been able to source a pretty tidy FF02, the only difference is a chassis extender and TL-01 wishbones and links to make it 1/10 TC side. I'll rebuild this up at a later date. Enough rambling I've fitted M05 V2 pro carbon wishbones, these required a small mount of trimming due to the droop adjustment. In hindsight I should of fitted these later on as they were flapping around while trying to assemble the chassis. Within the gear box I've fitted the hollow shafts, reinforced gears and Tamiya M05 diff gears... I spent just under £135 however it's easily 1/3 of the price even with postage added. Alex97 Posted May 22, 2023 Author Share Posted May 22, 2023 I picked another two chassis up on eBay last week for a good price, I was expecting them to arrive next week however they arrived today! Upon inspection they are both in really good condition and only have a few small marks on the underside. Within a hour or arriving I'd stippled then both down, washed all of the pieces and degreased all of the metal parts. The previous owner used a lovely dark brown machine grease. The intention was to rebuild them, give them a bit of an update and then sell them on however I think I'll be keeping one of the chassis. 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Popular Post Alex97 Posted May 27, 2023 Author Popular Post Share Posted May 27, 2023 After thinking that 5 chasiss would be enough I've somehow ended up with 8! #1 and #7 are for me and the rest are to be sold on after being refreshed. #1 is for the shelf and #7 is for using, after buying 8 chasiss I've built up a nice array of upgrades for each one, a lot of these upgrades are no longer available so I've been very fortunate to source them this way. #2, #3, #4, #5 are 90% there, all have been fully stripped and cleaned. As standard bearings have been fitted and I've tried to add a few extra parts to each chassis so they aren't box stock. Electronics are pretty standard, 1060 ESCs, Slivercan motors and metal geared servos. Body wise they aren't all going to be mini, #2, #4 & #5 will be minis while #3 will be a RS200. I know that they aren't the most complex chasiss or even the quickest M chassis out there however I'm really enjoying rebuilding these old cars. 4 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
