tomr Posted May 15, 2020 Share Posted May 15, 2020 Just watched your vid 👍 Regarding the play In your shock mounts ,I know mines a Bom kit but they're basically the same minus the rear cantilever set up .I can tighten the shocks up until they're solid and need the bolt backing off ,so I'm wondering if you have the correct ball joint in or maybe the bolt needs tightening a little more ? I tried to go for a really dark, metallic red and it didn't come out nearly as dark as I intended! In some lights, it's even got a sort of pinky-hue. Objectively, I reckon I did a pretty good job, as there are no runs, splatters etc and the masking was reasonably accurate. However, when I saw the lighter red colour, I HATED it!!! I was sooo disappointed! So much so, that only last night, I had multiple cans of paint and a new body shell in my online basket, ready to be bought at a cost of over £100! At the last minute, I decided not to pull the trigger and sleep on it, instead. Actually, I'm glad I did, because the colour has grown on me, now that I've basically accepted it isn't what I set out to do (a GS02 in GS01 box art colours). Plus, the metallic effect really is pretty stunning, not that the photos show it. So, I'll keep it. It's taken me 3 days to do the shell and after all the time, effort and money, I really couldn't justify £100, plus going through it all again. In some lights, I still don't much like it, but in others, it looks great. I still have work to do to the truck; waiting on some stuff to arrive, before I sort out the electrics. Only dark metallic reds, which is why I was so disappointed. Yeah, she's backed with silver, then black. I could have gone straight for black, but that would have dulled the metallic finish. Honestly, I would simply have been much better-off opting for PS37 translucent red, rather than PS15 metallic red, but you live and learn. This is my Losi XXX-S, done with PS37, then backed with PS48 chrome, and then black. Much closer to what I had envisioned. However, the silver lining is that the lighter colour of the truck allows the black bolt-on parts and graphics to stand-out much more, so I can't really complain! I've not bothered with a single decal ,going for the mean and moody look ...or at least that's what I'm telling myself. However, having tested it, I decided to stick with the original 13t. Just because it delivers the sort of balance of performance that suits the truck. I had to add a small extension to each motor wire (hence the heat-shrinked joins), because I had previously cut them to fit a 540 motor; before getting this larger 550. Speaking of, the Holmes Hobbies motor is so smooooooooth!! This thing can maintain forward momentum at an incredibly low speed with the lightest of touch to the throttle. I mean so slow that it takes several seconds for the wheels to make one full turn! Top speed is little more than fast-walking pace, which is fine. Gotta say thanks again to @Oh How Original for suggesting these motors. Also fitted an m3 threaded rod through the rear shock hoops, to act as a brace. Works perfectly; no more flex I like how the truck has full light buckets, but you still have front and rear light stickers, just to add more detail. The LEDs shine through the stickers.
