I put the Traxxas radio gear in to this for the self righting mode. Least the HPI diffs could handle it.

Hmm the Cen Reeper or Savage XL Flux - Tough one. - HPI lots of Parts/Hopups and proven model, Cen - Its new and different but parts support is a worry.

The same electrics are in the 5sc flux, with the right gearing they would do just fine in the Xmaxx

We will have to agree to disagree but having owned both a fifth scale Savage and an X i can assure you there is no way a 2200kv set up should be anywhere near an X Maxx

No problem I'm only stating facts, with the right gearing the motor would be fine the 5sc is bigger and just as heavy so what's the difference?

We are all concerned that the Kv is too high on the existing motor at 1600 until the 1275 is in general circulation.

No way will a 2200 be of much use there - much too high. Got to concur with Guns' post.

The ESC might last as long as the VXL-6S ...... another story!!

The 5sc weighs nowhere near the same as an X and then there is The wheel size and weight? 1600kv is considered too high for the

X Maxx hence the new one. I ran a 1700kv in my 5th scale Savage for that reason

Cause Theyre 8th scale? And would last about 5 minutes? The KV is far too high for such a huge truck like the x Maxx

My point was the slightly more reliable electrics from the hpi in the x-maxx making a half decent truck out of the two.

lets not have any arguements of my posts, you'll make me feel all popular like.

so so I apologise for my ignorance, not dipped a toe into the larger electric offerings, I have a dirty old oil burner for that job.

haha, well to put it into context, I suppose it would be like putting a .21 nitro engine in a 5ive ;)

It's just a Savvy flux with longer tvp's and longer center rear driveshaft. That's it.

4 years too late.

If the arms were wider, had proper hexes, a castle 1717, 150a+ esc & 7 inch+ wheels it might have been worthwhile.

Soo who's buying one then:D

No one with sense surely! Its far too old and late for this now unfortunately. I am a HUGE Savage fan, but entering the market for one now is, in my opinion a ridiculous idea. The best news about this is hopefully people who already have Savages will get a new lease of support in terms of spare parts.

It maybe old but it works and it works well the savage has been and will always be a good seller, theres plenty of folk that will walk into a shop see this and buy it over say the X Maxx imo

Whats ridiculous about buying a tried and tested truck ?

Dont just right it off because its old

Im not really a savage fan to be honest myself but its great to see this hit the market again and i hope it sells like hot cakes as that in turn will create profit and may lead to investment into an X rival ;)

Way to go ripmax i say keep them coming

Its not tried and tested. It still has the ridiculously weak rear hubs, which were CLEARY a cost saving exercise 16 years ago so they could run the same hubs on all 4 corners. It STILL has the poor slipper clutch that is no where near ready for Brushless power. It STILL has those pathetic excuse for 17mm hubs with a WASHER to hold the wheel on (a part HPI actually makr already, just put it on for gods sake!) it doesnt have the XL axles which again HPI already make.I  bet the TVPs are still 3mm too which is far too weak and I also bet it still has the weak non HD idler gear.....

So no, youre not buying a Tried and Tested model, youre buying a flawwed model from a company that has had over a decade to rectify. This will NEED £100+ spending on it asap. If this came out with a revised slipper clutch/rear hubs/thicker tvps and a few option parts included (HD gear, proper 17mm hubs and the XL axles) id have probably ordered it...

So you mean it's like a Traxxas truck?

I anticipated this exact reply.... Yet aren't Traxxas doing something about the Xmaxx for example,  adding the fuse wire (lol) initially within a few months of release? Now we have an 8S upgrade pack within the year. The Savage has been around one and half decades and HPI havent addressed ANY of it....
