Haven't posted in a while, but have to warn everyone: i just fell for a scam, beware.
I've ordered an expensive dress for my wife, but was gobsmacked to discover this after unpacking.
I'd never thought i'd fall for a scam like this, i don't even know how they got me. Can't send it back either, i've already opened the box and accidentally painted a few parts.
Let that be a lesson to all of you, learn from my mistake. -
Didn't think that through it turns out, charging 2x 9500mah at the same time is a bit of a struggle considering you can only pull 13A out of the socket.
Guess i'll be listening to the charger fans for a while today.

Anyone here played around with a Capra and could answer a few questions?
-
Anyone ordered from Amain recently? Wanted to order something, FAQ says "no taxes paid on international orders" (meaning that customs levies the charge on entry) - yet on checkout i'm paying 20% of some kind of tax?
-
Ever had a situation where you wanted to shout dozens of mean jokes but held back? Yeah..
-
Anyone still into RC drifting, properly? Trying to get back into it, but boy has stuff changed.

Diablo 4 Beta tomorrow, fingers crossed.

Cheers - haven't played Destiny in donkeys years. Rubbed me the wrong way when Cayde-6 died lol.
Also waiting for Starfield, can't wait to see how many bugs Bethesda is gonna cram into this one. Hogwarts didn't last long, KSP2 is barely playable.. need something to tie me over until Starfield, so yeah, again, fingers crossed. 😄

Agree. I have been gaming since Atari 2600 days. But just lost my gaming mojo the last year. I got the Xbox series X and feel it was a waste as nothing really new (same on playstation side). Games are half finished mess. Half the time there is some money grab opportunity in there. Everything is online multiplayer. Sometimes I want a good game just to play with my daughter like good ol split screen days.
On that note. Anyone with kids who they game with or partners - It Takes Two - Fantastic game!
-
Played through it with my wife, and yeah, fantastic. 😄
Indeed, met my wife originally in DayZ (mod, not standalone) lol. And again agreed, we bought a PS5 a year or so ago, and while i did get lots of entertainment from GT7, that's.. about it. Did buy the PSVR2 a few weeks ago, literally have less than an hour in there. The new Horizon is cool and all, but it's just.. dunno, doesn't really feel like gaming.
Currently playing me umpteenth playthrough of Roguetech (a Battletech mod), mainly because i used to be interested in the table top version. Oh and of course "My Garage" on steam. 😄

First time seeing a QS8 connector, jesus.. Do they use those for overland power lines or something?

Collection day, weee! After almost 15 months of waiting, finally get to pick up our new car. Happy days 😄

Cheers, hope you enjoy it.
I absolutely love this thing already, though it appears that i ordered the wrong cable for our new dashcam - or it's broken. Ah well. Gotta be careful for the first few hundred miles anyway while the ICE beds in, by the time i can go fast as frick boi i'll figure out how to connect it lol.
Best thing though, the seats. Probably best seats i've ever farted into.

Looks interesting.

Be me: build a TRX, realise you want a hinge mount for the new shell, look it up, decide that £30 for a plastic part is unacceptable, and then spend £600 on a 3d printer to make it yourself just to spite a scalper. That'll show them.
......
-
With multiple RC sold, my cupboard is starting to empty out. Not quite sure how i feel about that, might need to order an SCX6 Honcho to fill the void. Hm? No, i'm not addicted, you are addicted.
-
.. another TRX4 ordered, this time of the Sport variety, for a more.. "dedicated" build.
Could someone take me wallet away please.
-
All the talk about TRX-4s recently.. had to buy another one again.
Sigh.
-
Today i learned that Makita makes a battery powered coffee machine. I'm not saying that i ordered one, but.. i did.
-
Anyone still doing 3d printing here?
-
Yay Aliexpress. Ordered a Servo, paid for taxes and shipping - and then get this message:
Note that i've already paid both taxes and $5 shipping. Cancelled the order now, because now i'm convinced that he's pocketing the money i paid for the taxes too. Lets see if they "accept the cancellation" (which is ridiculous) - if not, i'll charge it back through Paypal.
Guess i'll spend the extra £40 and get waterproof a Savox SW2290SGB, at least i know that i'm getting it then. Grrrr.
-
sounds very iffy you do right to cancel order, should be fine getting money back, how about getting servo from here, about 2 weeks for shipping and free on orders over $35 https://www.injora.com/collections/rc-car-servo
-
Only do one servo in the region of strength that i need, and that one's pretty slow (and not brushless). Cheers for the suggestion though, i'll do what i should've done from the get-go and get a SW2290 Black Edition.
Lets see where that Ali stuff is going. Instantly remember why i hate ordering from there - it's a gamble whether or not you get a decent shop, or, well.. a stereotypical one.

For the Mad Max Fury Road connoisseurs.
-
Well.. Long time no impulse-buy - just pre-ordered the 3s Infraction. Lets see when i get it. 😄

Yeah, only heard good stuff about the tyres - i guess you get what you pay for. I just would prefer to get some worse wheels for less money - i'll not speed run it, it's more a "drift-basher" to me, no need for the most amazing wheels. Just need some that i can replace cheaply after ruining a set.
14mm hex is really stupid, seen some people convert the Mega to 17mm - probably gonna end up doing that too.

For once, we got a lucky break. Octopus finally came out of the woodworks and did what they were supposed to do almost a year ago. We applied for Octopus Go (EV charging tariff) last year in August, but couldn't get it because our smart meters were "old style" and not compatible, so we were waiting for them to be updated.
Two days ago we got an email telling us that that's not possible, and that we need to call them to book an appointment for a replacement. Called them yesterday, 30 minutes after the call we had our appointment, 2 hours after the call our meters got replaced.
The best part though: we got put on the tariff that we applied for last year. So until 27th of May 2023, we pay 24p/kwh, 19p standing charge and 5p/kwh from 00:30 to 04:30 (Octopus Go September 2021 v1). From 25p standing charge and 45p/kwh.
Gonna really hurt next year in May, but until then, .. phew.

Of course, the day i collect my Mini 3 Pro, it's raining to the point of flooding. Sigh.

No problem - no, i didn't. I don't think it's a bad idea, but i paid for it on three drones, and never used it. Altogether just with that money i could get a new drone entirely lol.
If the drone crashes through a manufacturing error, the normal warranty covers it - other than that, i've never had as much as a damaged prop on my drones.
Maybe i'm overly careful (no flying in bad weather/high gusts/wind etc), but so far has served me well. If you fly LoS (as we all should, legal and stuff), you won't get surprised by a tree jumping in front of the drone - and, i don't think i've ever used sport mode on my drones, usually "normal" is fast enough, and for the majority i creep around in Cine/Tripod mode.
-
Here's a big tip. I missed it on the first few testflights, ruined the footage for the most part. The FLY app doesn't have the old "hotkey" anymore for AEL (auto exposure lock). If you shoot in Auto (like i usually do, drone does a good enough job with white balance etc), you need to lock the exposure, otherwise you get incredibly visible steps in the video where it just changes brightness, rashly. I thought i did lock it (on older app versions, you tap something on the screen, and then tap in the square that pops up again and hold to lock exposure), but after reading up on it, well.. yeah nah.
What you need to do, i assume the process for the RC Pro lite (whatever they call the screen remote) is the same, is to set your FN button (the programmable button) to AE lock. You'll have at least one programmable button that you can set to "tap" and "double tap", i got AE Lock on double tap now and it does indeed lock exposure. Here you can see what happens if you don't lock it.
Makes colour grading impossible (i just twisted some knobs, didn't actually grade it properly because you can't when the exposure jumps around all the time). Ignore also the jerky movements, i flew in normal and only just now played with the gimbal/yaw settings to increase smoothness (both "smoothness" in settings and expo on the yaw stick).
Just a heads up. You need to do this or your footage is gonna look awful.

Turned our Ateca into a race car today.

Funny enough, i actually do have a cap on the parcel shelf - Freedom Factory merch. 😛
Can't wear caps though, look like a pernus with one.
I was thinking about a 12V electric turbocharger, they add 40hp i've been reading. I'm also in the process of shaving the tyres with burnouts, slicks are faster.

DJI Mini 3 Pro, it's a given that i'm getting one to compliment the rest of my "fleet" - i just can't make my mind up whether or not i want the "big" remote, or just the standard one. More convenient, but £860 for a Mini is.. harsh.

Me too, though just standard controller since the drawbacks of the smart controller outweigh the advantages for me. Did order the fly more pack and the ND Filter set though, and got enough SD cards from all the other drones/cameras.
Looks like a great little beast, looking forward to playing with it. Knew it beforehand, but reviews etc confirm that.
-
It's not particularly positives of the standard controller, it's the negatives of the smart controller. This might not apply to you, so you gotta make your own mind up, but here's why i didn't go with it.
For starters, it's not the same screen as the original RC Pro. It "only" has around 700 nits brightness and viewing angles reportedly aren't great (which you can also see in some of the videos). Both my phone (S21), and my tablet (iPad Pro), are brighter than that, with better viewing angles, so the screen itself isn't actually an argument for me. Further, you actually can't conveniently mount a tablet to the smart controller, whereas you can get a tablet-holder addon for the standard one.
Second, being locked in into DJI software sucks. I'd rather have the option later down the line to run Litchi or other 3rd party programs - but that's just a minor thing.
Third: it's a screen. It's another thing to take high care of - if i put a standard controller on the floor when setting up the drone, no issues - i'd be more careful with the smart control, which is just hassle. We also don't know whether or not its gorilla glass (might very well be, but i didn't find info).
Forth: no map overlay. If i use my phone, you get a small GPS map on the control screen - you don't get it with the smart controller. Apart or on top of that, this again is more important to me in particular since i live close(ish) to airports, i do have to unlock geolocks every now and then, which is more hassle with the smart controller than your phone. That could've been omitted if they'd have added a SIM slot to the remote (our car has one, our car charger even has one - i don't think it's unreasonable).
In general it's a cool controller, and it's not like i don't want it, it's just that i know if i'd buy it, i'll be guaranteed to be annoyed very soon. For £150 extra, i'd rather save that money or get the flymore combo "for free" - i just get more out of it. If i had the option, i'd buy both - but i'm not made of money, and times are tough.
To reiterate, i don't think the remote is bad - i just think, how to put it.. Like, the smart controller is an apple product, whereas the normal controller is Android. Does that make sense? The smart controller locks you into their system and takes away options/capabilities, but adds the convenience of a slightly streamlined startup process (unless you're geolocked and have to unlock stuff), whereas the normal controller is slightly less convenient to use because you need to attach a phone/cable, but allows more customisation (different screens, apps etc).

Finally managed to score a Playstation 5. It genuinely might be easier to purchase weapons grade plutonium than that stupid console.

Both my CPU and GPU in the PC are liquid metal'd, not sure how that's supposed to be leaking. It's just a thermal compound - if it hasn't squeezed out at assembly, it can't squeeze out after.
That being said: we found a solution. Big TV in the bedroom now, small TV on the "PC wall", and console suspended next to it. Only gonna jiggle if the wall comes down. 😄
Our big TV doesn't support HDR10, so 52" has to suffice. Will do.
While i am absolutely not a fan of the design, it is considerably better suited for us than our old PS4 that sounded like a Saturn rocket launching everytime you started a game - and because the loading times were measured in tree circles, you listened to that for quite a while. This one is silent, and saves us on heating lol. The fan design is considerably better too (had it open already for a "hack", o-rings under the fan shroud to reduce vibration).
All in all, with just Ghost of Tsushima and Ratchet and Clank now, we had a fun day with it. Elden Ring tomorrow, and 4th of March Gran Turismo 7, which, if Gran Turismo 2 is anything to go by, will entertain me until FFXVI comes out lol.
